It sounds like you have a error code. Could be a lot of things. Best thing would be to check out what error is being generated. Search on the forum for ODB I error code. That will give you the way to check the error and then tell us what error # is it. We can advise from there.

No, the VSC light might be another issue. You should be able to pull in to the Lexus dealer and ask them to check it out. Afterall, once they've submitted a claim for the CSP they'll be making a few thousand dollars off the recall.

Check Vsc/check Engine Light
UCF3 replied to msckmorris's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Isn't your car still under warranty? If it is, why bother to hunt for the problem when the dealer could take care of it on his time and at no cost to you. Besides, a bazillion obscure issues can cause the VSC warning light to come on. Have the dealer "pull the codes" and zero in on the issue. and if your dealership is too far to drive to, any Autozone will pull the codes for free. Get the trouble code and post up here. We will then tell you where to start looking based on the code causing the idiot lights to come on. Too many codes and so few lights to indicate them. get them read. steviej StevieJ, Thanks for the reply. You are right, the nearest dealership to me is a little far from me. I live in a small town - Alice, Texas and the nearest Lexus Dealer is in San Antonio, Texas - 130 miles. I know it is still under warranty but like they told me - if it isn't anything that is covered then they are still going to charge me for looking at it and finding out what's wrong. So I'd rather look into it myself for now. These forums are very informative and I just thought I'd check here before having to take a day off from work to take it to the Lexus dealer. I will go to Autozone tomorrow and have them do a check and then I will post the result here. Thanks again. Rene. Rene: Wow, you do live pretty far away from the nearest metro. Corpus Christie is showing a Toyota dealership. Have you tried them yet? You could also look for a Foreign car specialist shop who can work with you. Many of them should have the scan tools at their disposal. -
I've looked online and it looks like it's a common occurrence on all makes and models. I would recommend getting buying regular tires, Yokohama , Michelin, BFGoodrich and use Nitrogen in the tires. If your rim is bent time to consider buying 16" wheels and tires for the GS.

Well this stinks. After 4 years of production the IS-F is being discontinued for good. Why doesn't Lexus and Toyota understand good things take time to perfect.... :chairshot: http://www.worldcarfans.com/113031255052/lexus-is-f-to-be-discontinued---report

Mark Levinson Or Not To Mark Levinson Stereo?
UCF3 replied to fernicus's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Ouch!!! I thought so too at first when I first heard it, but after a few adjustments and 3 months later it grew on me. Give it some time. -
Hmmm!!! Interesting!!! Didn't know that.

I'm afraid it's still not a camera. I have something that looks like a lense under my third brake light on my GS as well as the ISF. Just something Lexus does to coverup the screws.

Haven't had this happen to me. Try talking to the Service Manager --> General Manager --> then the owner. Since it's only a month out of warranty kind of force their hand by saying you guys must have done something, blown fuse, pulled the wrong cable, it was working fine before I had the car serviced here. Also if you have another Lexus dealer in the area you could see if they'll service it since you're just a month out of warranty. Also complain the other dealer messed my day and are denying thier fault.

Thanks.

Mark Levinson or Panasonic? Also, check the connections in the back of the radio; yes you'll have to pull it out?

Thanks for the tip Pied. Glad to know I have an option for performance.

About To Buy A 2006 Gs300 With 100K Miles
UCF3 replied to bplaney's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I'd say cost to build the engine but not an automotive engineer. I know a number of my mechanic friends say it's related to noise and vibration the chains produce, the longer chains produce more. I am glad to hear the 06 has a chain. less worry for later :) -
I'm planning to use ZMAx the clean and deodorize the cats on my GS soon. Glad to hear you like it enough to recommend the product. I know the GS300s and IS250-350 are having some piston issues. Have you talked to the Lexus dealer about testing for misfires before you run ZMax or Milltek solvents.

The backup camera isn't under the third brake light. Look near your rear license plate light. There should be something black with a lens.

Does it sound or feel like a whooping noise as soon as you start your car?
-
Is this coming from your dashboard or somewhere in the cockpit of your truck? It kind off sounds like a trim rattle. try removing any loose items from the inside of the RX including inside your glove compartment and center console/armrest. Also, remove your car key from your keychain. Turn-off your radio and the climate control. Now drive the RX around over those famous Jersey roads(rough) and see if you still hear it. If you can isolate the location of the sound. That should give us an idea where to start looking for the problem.

Guys; I'm still now sure what conditions are being produced when you're idling? The Idle Control Valve would have been my first guess, but you guys are saying it's higher or lower based on some electrics being active. Can you guys record the sounds and the conditions and add it to this forum?
-
Does it sound like it's sputtering when you're stopped at a traffic light?
-
I agree. The pads were probably replaced under the tsb and the rotors must have been resurfaced. Original rotors and pads lasting upto 96k. That would be unbelievable.

Brought my 2006 Lexus GS300 in about 1k miles ago complaining about burning oil. They put me on a 1k mile oil consumption test. Brought it in this morning. They added oil and asked me to come back in another 1k miles. Here we go again. Hope they recognise that this is a latent defect with thier piston rings and fix it at no cost. I hope they treat us Canadians similarly like they did in the States. I will keep you posted. I have a similar problem with my GS. Did your dealer run the misfire test? That should also put you on the list. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting for parts. Lexus says there is a huge backlog of requests for new pistons and rings.

Found this image out there as well. It's definitely different. You maybe right about the F car not returning with the V8. I know a lot of the Lexus and Toyota folks believe it's a success in the here and in the EU. Perhaps they'll offer it V6 turbo like the M3s.
