Mine can do that after sitting for a week. You will need to charge or jump the 12V battery. It seems to drain quickly in this car when sitting.

Check out reviews and road tests on all the tires at Tirerack.com. I bought my Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires from them and have been very happy with them.

Maybe disconnect the 12V battery for a while?

It boggles my mind how little these "expertly trained" dealer service techs and managers know about the cars they work on.

No need to warp up at all before driving. Whenever you sit with the engine running you're getting 0 mpg! Better to warm up as you drive I say. An engine block heater may reduce or eliminate the warm-up time, but is usually only used in freezing climates. I'm not sure how one would trick the engine temp sensor, but it probably would have unintended bad consequences in other areas.

You don't have a problem, that's how the hybrid system works. It's not a fully electric vehicle, unfortunately.

Your energy gauge on the far left shows 0. If it's using any power, it's not much.

You must mean the daytime running lights (DRLs). Those are shared with the high beams, but lower brightness. The DRLs only come on when the car is in ready mode and out of park. The HID headlights will turn off.

The radio should be ok for a few hours, but leaving lights on is not good for the battery. In my experience, even with a new Costco battery, mine drained completely in 2 days when I left a map light on. I had to fully charge it with a plug-in charger and it's been fine since. I didn't think the small map lights would drain the battery so quickly.

Try resetting the fuel economy meter when you are up to freeway speeds, then see how much it changes on that long drive. This way it won't be influenced by any city driving before you are up to freeway speeds.

This recall of the IPM wasn't an immediate safety concern (in fact, Lexus sent a letter with driving tips while we waited for the recall to happen this year, see attached). All us owners of the affected RX400h's have had to wait until the past month to get the inspection/replacement done free of charge. Yes, the dealer should have known about the recall, but they didn't have the parts and inspection procedures ready yet when you bought it. If you had owned it before the recall, you would have been notified by mail like the rest of us. You happened to be one of the few unlucky ones who had the bad solder joint in the inverter lead to a failure while driving. A new RX450h would have been a great deal if they approved it ($50k car for a $25k car) but that's not realistic to expect. For me, I was happy with the way they handled it - I brought mine in last week for the recall, and it turned out not to need the part replaced, so I was out in an hour with a free car wash and tank of gas. You can revive the battery with a good charger, but your best option is to replace it now.

You can hold it under your chin when pressing the button to extend the range. Try it - it works!

If it existed for the RX400h, it would be over $10,000. A123 Hymotion makes an extra battery to convert Prius to plug-in hybrid, and it's $10,000 for the upgrade/installation. http://www.hymotion.com/hymotion/products/N5_range_extender

Another quote from a link in the article: "Another way to look at this is through the experiences of people who had vehicles four to six years old and who did not have extended warranty coverage. You're better off putting the money aside, in case you need it, and the odds are you won't.

The EPA fuel efficiency number were revised in 2008 to be more realistic, so check the MPG estimates for the 2008 RX400h vs the 2007. Don't compare 2008+ numbers to 2007-. RX400h: 2007 EPA est: 32 city/27 hwy, 2008: 27 city/24 highway. Same engine. I usually exceed the highway estimate, but never have gotten the estimated city mileage.

I've had my Paradas over a year, and they have been great in rain, snow/ice and dry pavement. Never got stuck or had any slipping in bad weather, and they are super quiet with great handling. Not quite as fuel efficient as the Green-X OEM LRR Michelins, but only a 2-3 MPG difference highway.

Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes? Maybe it would reset the nav.
