  1. Are you sure you have the XM tuner and antenna hardware installed? I think XM was an option that had to be installed separately.
  2. I think mine sounds pretty good under hard acceleration (definitely not a 4-cylinder sound), and I clocked a 0-60 time of 6.68 seconds using a friend's performance meter.
  3. After disconnecting the battery (or if it gets too low), the power windows/moonroof need to be initialized to "relearn" their position by doing a manual open/close cycle on each one at each door switch. The switch light will blink until this is done.
  4. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of driving a hybrid?
  5. I found an even easier way to revert back to normal intermittent wiper operation - just unplug the rain sensor connector above the rear view mirror. You have to remove the plastic cover (no tools required), but it's easier than getting to the wiper ECU on my 07 RX400h. I suppose I could install a switch to easily enable/disable the rain sensing function.
  6. I was able to remove the fixture from behind the bumper without removing the bumper. It was a tight fit and I had to remove the plastic panel behind the wheel well, so maybe the bumper would have been an easier route. I ordered some bulb sockets so I can add LED bulbs to the center part of the bumper light housings, wired to the marker lights. They were designed to have bulbs in them, but in the US model bulbs are not included, and the housing does not have the hole cut for the bulb socket. I'll post some pics when I get the project done.
  7. Did you drive it for a while (20-30 min) to fully charge the battery? If the battery is low, the hatch may not have enough power to work.
  8. That says it's for the 2010 - I think it's a typo and should read RX450h, not RX400h.
  9. Look out for dealers overcharging for services you don't really need. Stick to the required maintenance specified in the manual. At 60,000 it's just an oil/filter change, rotate tires, replace cabin and engine air filters, replace brake fluid, visually inspect brake pads, and a few other routine inspections.
  10. The hybrid system in the 400h is still higher tech than anything in the RX350.
  11. You can check the dealer service records of any Lexus vehicle (by VIN) at the My Lexus website: https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/my-lexus/home.do I found it useful when shopping for my used Lexus.
  12. I got them on eBay, pre-painted with my color code for an extra $50. The paint job wasn't great (too light spray of base color coat) and I got a refund for the paint. I bought these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-Lexus-RX400H-LED-Signals-Mirror-Cover-RX-350-400-H-/190218571355?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories These are cheaper and look the same, but don't have a paint option: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.m748&item=290461758732&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D6369654368485018890 Also available in a stick-on chrome version: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.m748&item=170525101063&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D6369589247432316694 Another option: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-RX330-RX350-2003-2007-LED-SIDE-MIRROR-COVER-/250248444470?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories
  13. The auto up/down windows need to be initialized. Try running each of the windows with the blinking switches all the way up and down from the control on each door (hold the switch the whole time both directions). This needs to be done any time you disconnect the window control wire harness or if the battery dies or is disconnected.
  14. My Verizon LG EnV Touch works great with the car's bluetooth.
  15. Go for the used 2007 or 2008 400h. Buying new doesn't make sense when you can save $20k on a used one with low miles and still some warranty left. Always check the title history for rebuilt/salvage or other accidents before buying a used car with Carfax or Autocheck. Check out http://carbuyingtips.com/ for more things to watch out for. I found that Craigslist is the best way to find deals on local used cars. Don't mess with the other websites - all the dealers and private sellers list on Craigslist. I see you're from Mukilteo. I found my RX400h at University Audi in Lynnwood, through Craigslist. Lexus of Seattle is also nearby in Lynnwood, and they usually have several Lexus Certified used RX hybrids available. Good luck!
  16. Interesting. I figured it was supposed to be this way, since to the right there is already more light due to the cutoff effect of the beam pattern of each headlight. I could actually use more swivel to the left!
  17. Finally finished the LED turn signal mirror project. It was more difficult with this car than the Prius that I had done before. I even had to de-pin the mirror wiring connectors to be able to remove the mirror's "guts" (motor/sensor assy) and transfer them to the new mirror cover. I didn't get the white puddle lights underneath to come on with the dome lights, so I just wired them with the turn signals. Found out after pulling the 2 positive mirror LED wires that the dome light circuit on the RX is activated backwards, by enabling the ground instead of applying +12V. I would have to take the doors and mirrors apart again and pull a third wire (not sure if there's room) to get this to work with the interior dome lights. Anyways, at least I got the turn signals wired up correctly without breaking anything (except for the two unnecessary plastic alignment posts on each door panel that are impossible to reinstall without breaking!).
  18. Another amazing mod, looks great! Do you notice any loss of brightness or shadow effect from the L logo that you etched? Hopefully you don't get pulled over for your lights appearing too blue, as I have with white LED mods to my previous vehicles. No tickets, but it gives them a reason to pull you over. On my RX400h, when turning right, the adaptive lighting doesn't seem to swivel as much as it does turning left. Does yours do this too?
  19. I recently removed the side mirror glass to install LED mirror covers. Don't break the glass! There are 3 connectors: one for the dimming feature (blue arrow), two for the heater wires (yellow arrow). There are 4 plastic clips (red arrows) and white paste holding the mirror to the motor mounts inside. Adjust the mirror all the way up with the controls, then pry from the bottom (with your fingers) to release the glass from the 2 white plastic clips on the bottom. It will hang by the 2 top hinge-style clips, then you can swing it out from the bottom and unhook the top clips. Then remove the connectors and do the reverse for the new glass. Be sure the two metal leaf springs go into their slots when reinstalling. It took some manipulation of the mirror angle to get this right. Hopefully your new glass has the same connectors as the original glass.
  20. I've never installed one myself or removed the radio in the Lexus (I've installed stereos in other cars), so I can't say for sure. It looks like it just plugs into the stereo rear connectors. The Mark Levinson audio system has a Mark Levinson logo on the face of the stereo (see pic).
  21. If it's not too hard to get at, I would rather fix it myself than drive 160 miles to have them tell me to come back when they get the part then another 160 miles plus all the time it takes going to and fro it makes more sense, if it takes less time, just to fix it myself. Thanks! Indi I actually feel the same way, only letting the dealer touch my car when absolutely necessary. Most people would rather bring it in. My ODBII plug also feels loose, and when stepping on the parking brake pedal, I sometimes dislodge my ScanGauge plug. I'll have to check if there's any way to secure it better.
  22. If you're still under warranty, the dealer should fix it for free.
  23. The cheap and easy way would be to use a cassette tape adapter that plugs into the headphone jack on your portable audio player. FM modulators are also easy but don't have the best sound quality. Hardwired solutions are more expensive and require disassembly of the dash to install, but would give you the best sound quality and features. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iSimple+-+Apple%26%23174%3B+iPod%26%23174%3B+Direct+Connect+Kit+for+Select+Vehicles+%28Basic+Install+Included%29/8760904.p?PID=3179980&id=1202650467149&ref=39&loc=01&lp=3&URL=http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8760904&st=isimple&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1202650467149&cp=1&AID=10597222&skuId=8760904&st=isimple It may make a difference if you have the Mark Levinson audio option, so check before you buy.
  24. Instrument panel junction box connector 1D pin 7 (Left +) and 1C pin 9 (Right +). Looking at the "System Circuit > BODY ELECTRICAL > Turn Signal and Hazard Warning Light" schematic on the service manual CD.
  25. I'm currently working on wiring up turn signal/puddle light mirror covers on my 07 400h and it IS a LOT of work. I worked a whole day and didn't finish one side so far (and I've done it before on my Prius). Got the passenger side mirror cover installed and wire run through the mirror to the door panel. There's not much room to pull new wires through the mirror's wire sleeve (it's not pre-wired for anything not factory installed). In fact, I had to use a ground wire from the power mirror motors since I couldn't squeeze more than two wires through. Next challenge: pull the wires through the door grommets into the dash area. I imagine it will take 3-4 full days to finish the project.
