  1. lol. if i didn't enlarge the picture, i would have thought it was just a stand up grill. lol.
  2. Welcome and Congrats on the incoming new GX. To answer your question, wait for the clunk to appear. Since you're buying an 06, IT SHOULD come with the updated driveshaft and control arms, but you never know. The dealer will not let you order the parts in advance because no one knows if the vehicle will have it. ;)
  3. I had the dealer turn off the DRL's on my 06 GX. I will not own any vehicle if the DRL's cannot be turned off. Lexus is lucky that they offer the option to have the dealer disable those things. Many times when I see a GX on the road, one of the DRL's is burnt out. That means that they don't have a front turn signal on that side of the vehicle. Very unsafe in my book. Not true. I've had both my turn signals burn out (one at a time, not both at one time) and what happens is that the only way (aside from obviously seeing the light in the garage) to know that you have a burnt bulb is that the signal flashers flash really quickly. It does look ugly IMO when there's only one DRL on but hey, that's life. Bobs GX, how did you disable it? Did the dealer put a little computer thingy to disable it? I was about to post here on how to actually (possibly, but not sure) REMOVE the DRL flasher assembly. I've compared the under dash of both my 4Runner and GX and they seem pretty similar in setup (aside from extra plastic coverings and a couple more wires). IF anyone's interested, PM me or reply here if you want to remove it. But then again, it can simply be de-activated by the dealer but who knows! Maybe one day you might wanna swap flasher assemblies with a 4th gen 4Runner who wants DRLs!!! ;)
  4. I have never experienced a dealership that doesnt have AT LEAST 1 salesperson coming up to me. Mercedes, BMW, they all were hungry to sell me something! Only dealer that I think the sales people dont mind me might be my Honda dealer(which I've been to for the last maybe at least 8 years) because they know once they see me or my dad or both of us looking at their cars they know we're not going to buy unless we tell them we're interested. :) ;)
  5. Well I was a little surprised they are badly beaten up at 3k miles only. ;) Well same thing goes for the loaners that they too get beaten up pretty badly i guess. I mean, what i meant by more rattles is that the vehicles come with more rattles from factory, compared to what my RX300 had. I really think Lexus would have TSBs because otherwise people will be discouraged with their RX and probably go to BMW or Benz. :)
  6. Could be. Idk. I'll go check out the magazine again. I didnt buy it, but i just saw it in our school library which I normally read (practically the only thing i'll read in a library, aside from required books, lol. :whistles: ) so usually I'm up to date on the scoop. ;)
  7. You probably did see it on this site since we haven't had a full set mods in a while. I always close any of the carfax threads I see as well. ;) you must have done a pretty good job. I haven't really seen any carfax threads here! :D
  8. I read in the September issue of Road and Track, that there is some concept car, based off the LS460, that's going to be the "super car" of Lexus? Something like 400 or 500 HP and costs around $120,000??? I tried to find it on the Road and Track website but couldn't. If you guys could get a copy of the September Road and Track, check it out! ;) I think it's called like LS650.
  9. SW, IMHO, from the loaners I've had vs my RX300, seems like a lot of the new RXs have more rattles. I've encountered dash rattles (both in RX300 and RX330/350s), and a rear door rattle(RX330/350), plus the tonneau cover on the RX330s and 350s. Although i'd agree that the quality is tighter on Lexus than Toyota vehicles. I can compare them side by side now and even though my GX has 46k miles on it, seems like the sidings, and doors, and everything seems tighter than the 4Runner's . But the 4Runner so far doesn't have any rattles or squeaks. I've been in a Sienna shuttle at my dealership, and at 3k miles, a lot of things are rattling already! Where the car was built could probably be a big factor on hardware quality too.... <_< :) P.S. SW, in your "The RX is less likely to develop squeaks and rattles over time than the RX." statement, you gotta change the last RX to Highlander. lol. If only I had permission to change it in this forum, I would have done it but I dont. :(
  10. Come on guys. Chill a bit. G Man, we all have our own questions or concerns and situations. Now a question that may sound stupid to a single person, could be very important to another. This is what LOC is here for. Besides, this topic was never posted here before so as india mentioned, cut a little slack this time. ;)
  11. Btw remember that your DRLs are always on( after you release your handbrake ) unless you turn on your headlights. ;)
  12. wow. thanks. That's a good website for me to research about.
  13. Exactly! Didnt I already mention about torque somewhere? Im guessing it was in one of the model forums...:)
  14. I was sort of thinking that might be it but Im not sure. I dont remember where to turn the VSC off but as I checked the tach when you first start it, it also has a "VSC off" light. So there might be a slight problem.
  15. see it's easy to push the stick forward. Try this. pull the stick as far back as you can (pretending you're flashing ur high beams at someone) and let go. Then turn the stick (and carefully turning it so you dont push it forward) and see if the high beams are still on when going thru park, headlight, and auto. ;)
  16. Are you sure you're not pushing the stick forward by any chance while switching thru the different modes??
  17. To also add to this, we all know that Lexus vehicles are safe. BUT we can't go driving w/o seatbelts as it will totally forfeit all the advanced safety features of the vehicle. ;)
  18. Just be careful next time. I highly doubt it will survive a second time around. This same thing happened to the sales lady who sold my GX to me back in 03. Her RX300 key was fine after it too went thru the washer and dryer. ;)
  19. How about curb weight too? ;) Curb weight? :whistles: That's another story! ...... ;) :D
  20. Nice. I wish other cars would have this also so they won't be the ones scratching up "my" LS460 when they parallel park. :whistles: ;)
  21. whoah, slow down a bit. First of all, CONGRATS on the purchase of the new GX! To answer a couple of your questions: I personally havent heard the BOSE system in the Escalade and I PRESUME that it should sound great (I know Bose is really good in sound research for their stereos). The only Bose I didn't appreciate was in a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. You should really appreciate the Mark Levinson Lexus has placed in the GX. Secondly, the remote is on the key itself. You should get two of those, one key (w/o remote) and a valet key card (a key on a "credit card" ). You can't program the keys to do anything else. Here's one feature though (if your sales guy hasn't told you yet). If you press the unlock button, and hold it down for a few seconds, the windows will roll down. ;) But you can't roll them up using the remote. You have to insert the key in the driver's door key hole, turn it to the lock position (turn left) and hold it there till all the windows go up. So enjoy your new vehicle! Glad to hear you got the chrome exhaust tip for free. Those things cost like $50. ;)
  22. I dont think I have that. When was the last time you did a leather cleaner and treated it?
  23. Absolutely NO. Seatbelts, aside from it being the law it can save your life in case of an accident or sudden stop. Lexus will never let the consumers disable the seatbelt warning lights. I wish you could have gotten an RX350. It not only has a seatbelt light flashing but also has a warning buzzer that will annoy you if u start driving w/o your seatbelt on
  24. Very true. the prices have gone up. I have checked lexus.com and the most basic GX costs $49k (3rd seat only). Back then, it was only $47k. Now the most loaded GX is around $58 or $59 when back in 03 it was around $53k. But hey, let's not let the newer vehicles spoil our Lexus experience. Just enjoy it, and pretend there isnt any better one than yours. It's like looking at new Plasma TVs. Yes the 55" plasmas look REALLLY nice, but the price is also nice. Settle for, maybe a 42" or 50", install it at home, and you wouldn't notice the difference because you wouldn't be seeing the 55" or 60" tvs next to yours. ;) Same with cars. If you have a GS300 and now there's a GS350, can you really tell the difference? Unless you go out and buy a GS350 to add to your GS300, you don't really know what you're missing! :)
  25. oh ok. Yes, i need a water repellent one. The current one i use, i use only one side, and i've been cleaning the cars more often then i used to to avoid scratches from the dirt that accumulates.
