  1. I didn't quite read the letter, and missed that. So IMHO that isn't really worth it then. But in other hand, I never knew there was a 8yr/unlimited mileage sludge warranty. Did this come out just recently or was it always been out for a long time?
  2. That's how the auto a/c system works. During the winter or cold weather, the system takes awhile before the blower and/or heater turns on. That's what I experienced in my previous RX300, now in my GX470 and in my 4Runner also. It's a characteristic of the auto a/c system. If you want quick heat, just turn the blower on, and crank your thermostat up to upper 70s and DON'T turn on the "auto" button.
  3. There's no screw to open it? Consult with your dealer first. Usually they'll tell you how to open it.
  4. Even though I do not own my RX300 anymore, I just received a letter in the mail (them asking) if I want to participate in a class action lawsuit against Lexus and Toyota on models that have the possible oil sludge. It includes, not only RX300s, but ES300s (01s and there abouts) solaras, camrys, and avalons. Though I might let you guys have a heads up for those who own an RX300. I never expected that there would be a lawsuit against the oil sludge that Lexus/Toyota has already disclosed to its customers!
  5. Merged these two topics.....
  6. Nope. I don't think so. ;)
  7. No not really. Did your driving habits changed in any way lately?
  8. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...0&hl=brakes ;)
  9. My sincerest condolences also Josh. I know it must be very hard. The other day, I watched an old film, Navy Seals, and it struck me at times when the group lost a member. You guys are the best and God Bless his soul and for the safety of the rest of you.
  10. very true. The question is not how much discount you'll get, but WHEN will you get the vehicle you want (with the right options, Interior and Exterior colors). ;)
  11. All I know denslexusgx470 is, I drove a 2005 Ford Explorer to San Diego from Claremont. There was no "clunk", no odd noises, no bucking or surging up hills, there was no shifting from 5th to 4th over and over again, like some have complained, even going up small grades(I have that problem too) and the Ford had 15,000 miles on it. My GX470 has 4200 miles on it and it has been to the shop 5 times already! The Explorer has not had 1 day in the shop, other than oil changes. I own a 2001 LS 430. It has not had 1 day in the shop for any repairs, no 1 and it has 50,000 miles on it. The Lexus did not put it's best foot forward when it produced the GX 470. Maybe we should call it the TSB 470.......... Yes it does seem disappointing that a nice, and expensive vehicle like the GX has this problem. But let's put it this way. Go visit a BMW or Benz forum, and they will have a whole shopping list of problems that most owners experience. If we ever read their problems, we'd probably feel bad that we complain too much about this clunk, that isn't a safety issue in the first place! ;) :)
  12. yikes, are you guys telling me that there is a possibility that these control arms that some of us had replaced with the latest (now cancelled)TSB will cause some problems down the road? I hope not. I only have about 2,500miles/2months left on my warranty! :chairshot:
  13. I had this problem two years ago when I was looking for a new cellphone at that time. I'm guessing no one ever knows unless I buy a phone from Asia and try to use it here, and turns out it doesn't work. Not all cellphones that have a SIM card slot work. I have an old Nokia phone that i used in the Philippines, like 2 years ago, and tried using it here but the phone couldn't recognize the SIM card or the network. <_<
  14. well that's what i meant. let's not even count the forums, but there are a lot of female GX drivers I see on the road, than female 4Runner drivers. Probably cuz it's a Lexus, of course. lol. My mom's one of those. She just drives the GX majority of the time. Heck, she hasn't even driven the 4Runner yet! :D
  15. It might surprise you to know that the vast majority of LX drivers are female also. Its the case with most SUVs. In fact theres an article in this months Lexus Magazine about a mom, the last line is "I especially love being a Mom in an LX". Manly vehicle though lol Personally I think the only SUV I would buy nowadays for me to drive primarily is an Infiniti FX. SW is right. I was just tellin my dad that the other day. It seems like there are a lot of female drivers for any Lexus SUV, but rarely do i find a female 4Runner driver (well at least in t4r.org there isn't) and relatively the guys are the 4Runner drivers. ;)
  16. My phone's been acting up lately, but to make a long story short, needs replacement. I have Cingular, and want to get a GSM unlocked phone. Now my dad is planning on going to the Philippines (ASIA) in the end of Nov. I want him to look for a phone for me there. Now I've been searching the net, but I'm running into this problem. Does anyone know what the bandwidth used here? My phone is currently a quad (850/900 1800/1900) but I'm curious as to which tri-band phones in asia will work. I've seen 900/1800/1900 and a 850/1800/1900 and (obviously) a quad 850/900/1800/1900. Most of the phones I've seen are 900/1800/1900. My question is if that will work locally here in America. Thanks.
  17. Once the free subscription with the car is over, how much is it annually? Mine's almost up, in about 3 months... :cries:
  18. Plus quality difference between Toyota and Lexus is DEFINITELY defined. My 4Runner doesnt seem as tight and "rattle free" as my GX and it only has about 3,500 miles, vs my 47,000miles GX. Unlike the Escalade, and GM, even though they have a Cadillac badge, quality is only as good as a Chevy or GMC.
  19. But I only clean (and VACUUM) the cars, the rest of you can clean the house... lol :whistles: :D
  20. Not many people bought the LX450 so don't expect too much activity going on. Now if you bought an RX, that's another story....
  21. You know, I have a central vac, but I have laminate and hardwood flooring all over my house! House came with it when we bought it. They said it's also good for cleaning cars too, but haven't tried that yet.
  22. For those new to LOC, here are a few tips on how to use and navigate thru these forums. If you own an LX450 or LX470, this is the right place. Now if you have certain questions about your vehicle, check the appropriate forum first as some people tend not to post answers to old questions that may have been discussed before. i.e. LX470 mpg, go to LX470 forum, then in the search box, type LX470 MPG and click search. If you post a new question, please do so in the designated forum. It makes it a lot easier for people to qucikly search their topics or questions. Where this notice is posted, this is the general LX topic forum. This is for those questions "What oil type? Offroading plans? " etc. If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me anytime. Thank you. Denslexusgx470 LX Forum Moderator
  23. moved to LX470 forum....
  24. Not as much as February bday babies.... j/k. Happy Birthday indiasfinest!
  25. Besides, the clunk won't break down our GX that we can't use it anymore! I heard of a CTS that'sa bout 2kmiles old, and has some tranny lining or something break, and was in the shop for a week! yup, 2k miles old. :)
