My Lexus isn't quite a beater in this family, so this 2003 GX470 is running almost at 55,000 miles on the clock. The Odyssey which is a 1997 has 162,000 on the clock... The LEAST amount of miles I've ever encountered is the 528i May 30, 2009 August 15, 2009

Rear Audio System - (not Dvd) - Wireless ?
denslexusgx470 replied to chriskris's topic in 03 - 09 Lexus GX470
Hmm.. That's very interesting to know. What I know since I got my GX470 brand new in January 2003 was that the wireless headphones are only for those who have the RSES. Do you have Mark Levinson audio system? -
Yes the projectors on the GX should be just fine with an HID kit. It's got a decent cut-off and beam pattern even though the stock bulbs are halogen. Give it a try! It's not hard to aim it slightly down if it's blinding on-coming traffic

denslexusgx470 replied to chriskris's topic in 03 - 09 Lexus GX470
Honestly if you ask me, I would agree with what your dealer is telling you. Unless Lexus has changed the RSAS (rear seat audio system) since 2003, I know that wireless headphones do NOT work with the RSAS, only with the RSES (rear seat entertainment system). My owner's manual does not have that paragraph regarding the use of wireless headphones for my RSAS -
Daytime Running Lights - Kill Or Change Bulbs?
denslexusgx470 replied to AKoos's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I'm not really sure with your GS450H but generally with the Japanese cars you can change the bulbs without any error messages. I don't think you should run into any problems changing the bulbs on your GS450H. Just make sure it's the right size and you should be fine ;) Only the German cars are picky like that. I know that with a BMW or Mercedes just to change the plate light bulbs to LED will instantly flash an error message on your info screen :( I see a lot of threads on the BMW forums where people have to add special modules or whatnots to avoid encountering the error messages -
How about 350 miles after 11 weeks? hehe (it's at 350 now as it's sleeping in the garage hehe) May 30, 2009 August 15, 2009 :P :P :P :P

that's why I didn't analyze everything discussed in this thread because I wasn't up to date when this thread first started lol. Besides, I just started organic chemistry in school now, and doing the prelabs and stuffs for this class is like 100x harder and more work than the inorganic chemistry class I took last year! ughhh... :( I have a headache right now as we speak while I'm trying to figure out how to do this prelab hehe -
So I Just Experienced My First Accident
denslexusgx470 replied to denslexusgx470's topic in General Chat
Hey guys! Summer school was killing me so I have not gotten around this thread for a month sheez. Well anyways I didn't have to go to the doctor because the sore feeling in my knee went away, well it hurts right now because I accidentally knocked it into the tow hitch on the 4Runner tonight ughhh I'm 20 yrs old and the rental companies would give me a rental car but our personal insurance doesnt have rental as part of our premium because my dad never chose that option as we are all hoping that if any of us in the family ever encounter an accident (which I hope God-forbid it) that it's an accident that was NOT our fault. So far my mom and I have both experienced a rear-end accident and obviously both weren't our fault. Her's was more serious because there was more damage to the RX300 than my CRV . Besides we technically don't need a rental because there's 3 of us in our house, but there's 5 cars to choose from. lol. :o I went on a week vacation with the family to Vegas so I left the car at the shop during the vacation so that it won't seem like an eternity to wait for my car to get fixed. Finally got it back, I'll post pictures when I remember to take them hehe. The girl was excluded from the insurance on that Nissan she was driving but since the insurance agent for our insurance works at my dad's real estate office, she sought to it that we won't pay a single penny at all for any of the damages. Yes that's right, not a single penny towards our deductible. :) Which in our case, turned out to be true. We didn't pay for anything in this accident. Also, knowing my dad, he wouldn't let me use the BMW haha. My mom mainly uses the GX but I'm ok with the CRV because it's the only car I can modify and I can't stand the CA heat so only my car has a semi-dark front tint which I greatly appreciate while driving :) Can you guys believe that the BMW only has 350 miles on the clock today? :o :o We've had that thing for 11 weeks now hehe. -

Hehe.. Of course I do! :P I just barely read this thread, and just going through the math explanations gave me a headache.. which is the similar headache I get when I take a precal test or any chemistry test with mind-twisting math formulas ughh :( -

Hey I don't think so! LOL. My RX300 back in 2002 when it was rear-ended, was in the shop for 2 MONTHS and I remember bringing the guys Krispy Kreme donuts EVERYDAY for those two months! Only because I bought some Krispy Kreme fundraiser card where they gave you a free dozen donuts after buying a dozen and I didn't feel like giving myself diabetes from availing the offer on the fundraiser card so I decided to use it all up on the body shop so they would do a good job on the RX, which they absolutely did. :) Too bad we sold it though hehe A different shop did a good job on my CRV this time since I was rear ended back in July. Finally got it back but it was only in the shop for 1 week. The pain was the process of getting the money/check from the girl at fault.. -

Hey SW do you want to do the chemistry formulas for me for my organic chemistry class? lol. -
Just got back from a vacation (used the 4Runner on the vacation), so I greatly missed the new car smell of the BMW hehe. I've had this baby for 11 weeks and STILL NO PLATES.

Set Of 4 Oem 16inch Rims And Tires For Sale
denslexusgx470 replied to PearlLX's topic in Lexus Buy & Sell Area
Bump. You should get decent foot traffic here in the classified. Post pictures so it would be easier for other members to see the rims you are selling ;) -
Are you asking what the difference is between the two? Which is better? Comparing BMW and Lexus is almost like comparing apples and oranges. Give more specifics and I might be able to help you out there. ;)

Well first of all we do have to admit that back in the day, mid-90s, that a lot of the Lexus line-up was too similar to the Toyota line-up. Just lately that Toyota has made a bigger distinction between the two even though we all know that the fit and finish, and insulation of Lexus is still far from it's Toyota counterpart. You guys should see how the BMW guys talk about us Lexus owners hehe. I'm the only one who's actually "neutral" between Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes, in their forum. They're worse than drug addicts. They could already be driving a 2008 or 2009 550i but they are still willing to trade someone who has an M5, or they are "saving" money for that M5 someday... The 528i is a fun machine to drive, but something still "excites" me more when I drive my GX470 ;) The new car smell on the 528i is very addicting, but then again when I visit my local Lexus dealership I feel like I can sleep inside a brand new Lexus with their scent also lol

Welcome and Congrats! Personally I use Meguiars and sometimes just regular Turtle Wax. I wax all my cars regularly and just make sure you have clean materials when washing that car. That should keep the nice paint finish for many years to come. I've been complimented many times from people saying "That's an 03? Looks like it's only a year old" because of how I maintain the paint job on all my cars ;) If you have any questions feel free to post and lurk around. As for the 04, there were some issues on that vehicle also but I'm not tryin to scare you right away so I'm just giving you the heads up. ;)

The black one is SPECIFIC for that vehicle, and that vehicle only. It has the production date, VIN, and where the car was manufactured. -
Any insurance work or claim will be reported to carfax unfortunately.. But you have to do what you have to do. :(

So I Just Experienced My First Accident
denslexusgx470 replied to denslexusgx470's topic in General Chat
The other driver was excluded from the insurance on that particular car (Nissan Sentra). The girl claims that she was driving her "brother's car" so that could be a reason. I'm not sure though but my insurance will definitely go after the girl and make HER pay for the damages on my car and on the ES330. The waiting part is what's killing me because I hate looking at the back of my CRV with those damages on there. <_< I think all the aches and pains went away so I may not do an injury claim. -
So I Just Experienced My First Accident
denslexusgx470 replied to denslexusgx470's topic in General Chat
Turns out the girl driving the Sentra was NOT part of the insurance for that car! Just great! So the process of getting the $$ to repair my car will take longer now... And for some weird reason, I know my chrome exhaust tip got hit in the accident, it must have been loose from the accident that yesterday it fell off somewhere on the highway! lol. -
Oh man! That's even worse! Actually my dad experienced the same thing with his first new car. He had his first new car in 1976 and in 2004 we saw his exact same car, with the same plates, in the Philippines (not in the US, this was when he was still in the Philippines).. and boy even though they abused the car, the country is known for rusting thru cars easily but his old car was rust free because he had many many layers of rust-proofing on it! lol... So even tho most of the cosmetics were all damaged, the undercarriage was still rust free.. That's why I hope when we get rid of the old Honda, and return the 4Runner, I wish to never see them again hehe

I think it could be the "type" of CD he burns. Check his settings and make sure it's set to the mode (I forget what the name of it is) where it will burn the CD in a way that will play in ANY cd player.

Learn to let go of the vehicle. This is why I prefer trading or selling my vehicle out of town so that the chances of me seeing it around town will be less especially when you know you have taken good care of it. People treat a used car as, a used car. That is what happened to my old RX300 and I'm pretty sure they appreciated how IMMACULATE it looked when they first got it but they figured since the car is 9 years old, why even care for it anymore? :(
-
It is illegal in CA to not have a front plate but depending on what area of CA you live in, as long as you behave and stay within speed limits, law enforcement usually do not pull you over if your only violation is no front plate. All my cars have no front plate, and two of my cars have illegal front tint as no front tint is allowed at all in CA.

That last photo of the white Prado is still the old current 3rd Gen Prado.
