  1. Thanks for the help blacktop...lmao...offer one suggestion and now im doomed...lmao... how can you go wrong with guys talking cars with pizza and beer... that is almost unAmerican.. :P
  2. Dont know where this post here came from cause it didnt even finish the quote... but i am pretty sure BMW had something to do with it!!!
  3. :) So who wants pizza? ...I'm buying.. :D
  4. Well I agree on using synthetic if it is what you started with...however the Lex from the previous owner had Valvoline run in it and that is what I will stick with..lol.. having had many cars and know that switching oils midlife is never a good idea I will stick to what has got it the first 140000 miles with no issues. Just had it inspected and met every requirement with flying colors. So I will not change what has already proved works for that auto. There is so many good oils out there but the breakdown and carbon deposits each leaves might leave alil suppin suppin different... and this is what the rings and valves learn to adjust to.... changing this chemical marriage midlife...could cause a midlife crissis...and no one whats a car with mental or physical issues... If or when I ever have to buy a new one.. Probably ...more than likely go with Mobil 1 until then ... preffer proven over popular... And I always listen read and study the manual ... who knows your car better than the people that built it?
  5. :( ..sorta looks ...well plain... I will keep mine... with it only being a few years away for them atleast my 94 should still be around. So I wont have to make a rash discission..lmao B)
  6. Good if you would I would also like to know what the 18"s did to your speed o'meter..lol... the reading... if it is enough to have the computer adjusted. TIA
  7. Is that $650. labor to install the timing belt? If so, though I realize SJ is an expensive area to live in, that seems more than a little excessive. The local (So Cal.) Toyota dealer always advertises $189. for changing a timing belt on V-6 (belt AND labor). Thats probably true with the commercial but that is just that a ploy to get you in the door.. if you look at the fine print in any add...it didnt mention the hourly rate to be charged..what cars meet that requirement and the drive belts... in a country that sells bottled water and canned air being versed in getting someone in the door is always the first step... also I am sure if you call the people that had listen to the commercial it was never JUST $189.00. It might have been alil high but all and all personal thought was not much... and it was done by a certified toyota mechanic so it is going to be alil higher than the guy with a lower overhead and his two cousins...lol... :P
  8. Like my wife has said in the past...if my cars could do what she does I wouldnt need her...thats not true...although if she sees anything on Ebay as far as aftermarket that Lexus or my Camaro can retrofit that can fullfill that end of the argument...she has standing orders to by it...lmao...
  9. I cant say much..bought my 17 yr. old daughter a 02 caviler with 125,000 miles on it. Granted it had stripes and sports package...never figured out exactlly what that included really, but the car now has almost 155,000 miles on it and other than tires brakes and oil change havent done anything. She loves it..which she is 18 now and its her first real car that is hers but, knock on wood no problems..and if you knew my daughter not much on any real mait. or upkeep.. the only time it gets any attention to its needs is if it doesnt interfere with anything she has planned .....which means it gets washed by rain and dried by wind...lol..but it still keeps her running (everywhere)..goodluck with yours...
  10. my personal opinion is its alil high but not much... considering I figure the area you live in. I am sure you will get more replies but, there is a certain expected price to pay for the car you drive. By looking at the breakdown the largest part of that was in labor for the 90,000 mile belt and driving belts. With that said I wouldn't think you got killed, just maybe hit by friendly fire..lol...flesh wound..you have another 90,000 to walk it off. :P
  11. OOPS customers...sorry dont count off for spelling...I wouldnt be able to pass to the next thread..lol
  12. SWOE3S forgive me if I speak out of turn,I am fairly new to this forum. But, on the other hand I am a avid car follower. I have been on many many car sites and I have to say this one has more people than normal that voice their personal beliefs and opinions dissing the cars that the whole forum was built to revere...lol..I just find it funny.. Its like going to a golf lesson with Tiger woods, to diss golf, and want to tell him how good Kobe is at basketball. Like I said I might be out of turn. My personal opinion is even if there is a problem with a car..you tell me a car company that doesnt have one and I will give you a car company with no return costomers and no sales. I have owned many many cars from Merc. to Vipers, from Vettes, to Chevettes....(use to have a car lot...lol...) as far as feel, ride dependibility and performance I will take a Lexus over a Lincoln any day of the week. Then again cars are machines..failure is immanent and no car is immpervious... as far as attorney or having one, I keep two.. and they will defend me right or wrong ...like a marriage.. till death of my bank account due us part...lol. I enjoy getting on here and reading peoples opinions and thoughts..as far as bashing a whole company for a problem that cant be proved they was at fault. Especially considering, I wont say all but most of us have one of these cars and you dont see alarge number of these threads,I would say is a little far.. everyone that does that should expect to be met with impedance.. If I am out of line...Sue me..it is AMERICA
  13. Sorta like the low profile of it sitting in the trench...lol... looks kinda like it belongs there.. maybe a duckcar in Audi's future... Now that would be fine German engineering.
  14. :) waiting on the pics...just seen the post and was wanting to go something around that route with mine..just wasnt sure... very eager to see them on a real car.
  15. Maybe someone needs to write Dr. Phil and let me do a show on " How do i make my wife love the Lexus as much as I do?...lol..I would watch it. Also would have to take notes... everytime someone comes over and I start showing them around our cars..I get the I will be on the deck or in the house when your done look...lol..and it looks something like this smiley.. <_<
  16. Appreciate that info.. granted that the water would be returned to the source (like the article says) at higher temps. It still raises alot of issues that I personally had not thought of as far as the hydro-electric concept. That really is amazing at the amount of water a enviro/friendly car consumes. Thanks for the thought. A for sure item to consider if you are thinking green. :o
  17. I just noticed this post..lol.. loved it.. first off I know what it is to be that bored..Living off shore on ships most of my life.. secondly very well done inspection.. I agree that has to be put in a file for now you know...lmao.. Thanks.. Next always wondered how far the umbrella holder in the door of a Bentley goes back..lol.. just incase you are bored again..J/k
  18. Glad to see this writeup. Personal opinion, I really like the stats and the ride is more than sufficiant. Just cant get past it looks to much like a Pontiac to me in the front.. Glad to see more people are leaning toward liking then dislike though. Just shows they are headed in the right direction for a change. :) ..Having been a Ford/Lincoln person in the past cant help but root for them alil. Especially considering how far behind I felt they had become on certain things.
  19. Just wondering if anyone knows of any Lexus Clubs out of Kentucky or any drives scheduled around the lakes area. TIA
  20. <_< No reply in almost a month...might see ya on cops..." wear a Lexus shirt so i recognize ya" ..I'll be the one wearing the black shirt and badge...cant miss me...lol..
  21. I agree with getting the parts at a toyota dealer or independent mechanic. I just recently checked on getting timing belt and waterpump..(cause its getting that time again) and having everything serviced for the long haul once again. Lexus dealer wanted between 1500 and 1700 for this little updated service. The Toyota dealer told me bring it in. That they would have to order the parts but, before I even had a chance to complain he told me I was looking in the 700 to 900 catagory depending on fluids and lil things as he so nicely put it..lol... big difference considering they both come with a warranty and dealership. Not a hard decission.. unless you like the free snacks and drinks at the Lexus dealership... (think I will just hold out for Burger King on the way out for lunch with a 800 to 1000 dollar savings... lol..Back to the topic. Welcome to THE CLUB. jcrome hit home though on getting the dealer to make sure it has been service or knocking some off so you can get it done. To costly to pay twice for it. Good luck and let us know how it goes...
  22. Not a race you would want to be known for finishing first...lmao
  23. Who would of thought all these years of using duck tape I was on to something...lmao..guess grey wasnt as popular... :P
