  1. Man you raise a hard question.. I have the same problem with a 92 25th Anniversary edition Camaro...does your car hold any sentimental value or anything...that is the reason my Camaro is still on the road...over the years I have spent in the neighborhood of around 15 to 18 thousand...body work new motor...rebuilt trans... new leather interior.. special dash lights...stealth ram air..B&M shift kit....so on and so on.... all in the name of sentimental... personally there are alot of good cars out there...I just keep it around because its the car my wife and I had when we got together. If it would have been a horse it should have been shot when we met :( ..but, I just kept on to it..now its like one of the family...lol... If I had it to do over again... well there would be one less in the family.. :chairshot: ..for what i spent .. and still continue to, is crazy... Thats the question you need to ask yourself.. what is the car worth to you... I personally would opt in your position to probably keep...it looks like most of what you spent has been or will be regular maint...other than small electrical problems...even then your dealing with a 10 year old car... sorta expected...
  2. welcome to the LOC!! glad to have you. Feel free to join in. There is alot of very insightful people on this forum. Nice looking ride B) ... Its sorta like the commercial for the hotel...We will leave the light on for ya... :)
  3. You can search the threads on here and find alot of information on where you can purchase the key fobs... A lexus key is very different then most when it comes to replacing..your friend is right when he says high dollar...a new full set of keys if all masters is lost can run anywhere from 500.00 to 1300.00 dollars.. www.toy-lex.com this is one site that might help...I am sure more people can be of help. But becareful and make sure its the one you need before you buy. Another option is always ebay.... goodluck..
  4. I dont take mine to Lexus alot because of the distance of where I live ... but even the Toyota dealer I go to will give me a loaner for ...I think its like under thirty bucks a day and sometimes depending if its just for a quick run around town wont charge anything.... and thats for any reason I take it in... Now I live about two hours from the closest Lex dealer to me and they will give a loaner for oil change or any reason...(as long as I reserve one when I call on lil service jobs..due to availability...) and I understand that completely due to the size of his lot being huge..no telling how many he would have out if he didnt limit it.. :)
  5. I always voted at my party's call, and I never thought of thinking for myself at all. William Gilbert ...
  6. I cant answer that one on the thermostat.....I do know that a oxygen sensor made the 96 LS I had get real bad gas mileage.. there are alot more educated people in here than me on the issues...and there are alot of threads that I have seen in the past on the exact same issue. Look back in the past threads and see because I have heard some of the exact same statement you just made... if you find one they might be able to tell you if they got better results with the changes they made... could be more cost effective then changing sensors without any change. I will ask around too... 10 mpg just dont sound right... :) :) ..let ya know if I come up with anything.
  7. More than likely a transmission mount...I have had that problem and thats what it was on my car...the Lexus I have now doesnt do it..but it has been an issue in the past..it was a back transmission mount..when I came ahead on the engine it would raise without much noise..when I let off of the gas the transmission would set back down causing a klunk sound by the weight dropping...sorry cant be more help maybe someone will reply with more helpful info... goodluck hopefully getting them changed will fix the issue
  8. When you say tuneup..? what specific's are you speaking of...we talking new plugs...or Lexus service..?..Just wondering,I noticed on other threads that after service some complained of gas mileage being under par... after discussing the service there was some filter or injection problem that was not addressed during service... please dont get offended..just asking to find out further information on your question.
  9. Very nice...glad to see someone as particular and OCD as I do... very nice kept car..you get my vote...have to agree with the pedal statement...either dont push hard or dont let up much.. ..no wear to the side or bottom...lol..great looking ride.
  10. As funny as this sounds the response is correct.. i have a older Camaro that has had custom leather interior put in it. Due to the dyed color of the interior being almost stainless steel color it is a pain to replace. A few months after I had the interior put in it was wearing out extremely quick. Not bad just noticable if you looked close. The interior shop replaced it.... now it needs replacing again. I have noticed that when I get in the car I get in like what was said by Lex..in the 12oclock position...pushing my body weight against the back of the seat in a slide. When I changed the way I enter the car. It has stopped wearing the seat out in that manner... this may not be the answer to your problem but it did fix mine...
  11. No recommended service is ever (not needed) for the life of a car depends on service. As for the Toyota dealership..unless you just really like water... thats not a bad move..my car is currently having a ECM put in and being serviced at a Toyota dealership for about 600 less than what Lexus wanted. note: They offer free coffee and magazine, usually less than two months old mailed to a woman from another state, but somehow always make it to the office....lmao :P .... I would take it to a Lexus dealer on occasion just to have them glance over for a service.. and like quite afew in honesty like just looking around to see the new ones and the shop.. everyone likes five star treatment. But, price wise not a bad deal with Toyota and it still has warranty and trained personel....just my opinion.
  12. Thanks forgot to say that... ya she is a good kid...helps around the house with me gone. Everyone says alil over protective at times..sorta treated her like she was 10 forever... forget sometimes she is the same age I was when I was over seas... lol...
  13. lol...locked up...with her...lmao...Ok its my daughter no rude comments or suggestions... only pic you will ever get... <_< ...just joking ,shes a good kid just hard headed and have to learn the hard way. Like I did...looking at schools for her future dont know what she wants to do yet...she is thinking about it... wish she would hurry up and think ... ..so far all she thinks is rent is free and cable comes with rent...lol
  14. Thanks peeps... pretty proud..and yes on the Lexus 800...that wouldnt be bad at all...lol..
  15. WOW..!!! 28.5mpg..thats great...my 94 with 139,000 miles average between 18 to 25 depending on driving..wifie seems to par better than I do.. lol... but still great considering the V8 and we do always run premium ...very happy with that though
  16. I was sorta wishing if I paid for the school he could afford the ride...lmao...I know it wont happen but cant help but wish..lmao... I bought my daughters car and she is paying for it over an extended payment plan...helps keep her focused...she does good, she drives...she screws up in school, she gets seen being drove around with her dad...lol...makes her real popular..besides all of her friends think I am alil nuts anyway ...nobody ever sees me and when I am in shore-side there are always Homeland Security meetings and me traveling to different states for meetings.... So they feel she is being Policed... I let them think that because it helps witha 18 year old girl cheerleader size three ...I will take any advantage I can get..... :( ...Including GPS phone tracking.... :(
  17. Welcome to the LOC!!! Welcome to the Club ;)
  18. Very nice...very nice...and will last a lifetime if taken care of... congrats
  19. Thats some poetry right there buddy, i know what you mean, the ocean is an amazing thing. LoL, and a floating starbucks can be arranged. LOL...well it has its downfalls ...hurricanes and squaws...rode Katrina out wont do that again..lol.. and never in my life seen a rouge wave but have seen what one does..dont want to be there then...but yes a floating starbucks would be really nice addition...lmao
  20. I am a captain of a boat off shore... use to travel to other countries now just from the gulf to inland waters... money is good, but, not everything.... just been doing it since I was 14 sorta hard to change careers in todays world and economy...I hold a masters in marine propulsion and systems... They told me when I was younger it would get easier...they lied...lol... gets harder... but with it all weighed out it is my career...and on my wifes behalf....it takes a strong woman to be able to handle a career like mine also... I figure I trade my days so maybe my kids will have more choices and make better ones than I have through the years... I would not advise or wish on anyone the lifestyle of being gone away from ones family like I have. It is a young mans job...and as I get older I am not a young man anymore...I do love my job though...there is nothing like waking up in the morning smelling the salt water and feeling it burn as the wind blows looking out on open water listening and watching the seagulls swarm in the wheel wash of the engines at the break of sunlight...drinking coffee listening to the hard moan of the engines echo a moan from the breaks of the tide... knowing there is no one else for 50 miles but you and the sea..nothing else like it in the world.... guess I am not a land lover at heart.... lol... in the words of Kevin Costner in Water World...."the land just dont move right"...lol :P If I had room to play with my cars and had my family and dog with me not really any reason to ever get on land.... well maybe Starbucks....
  21. I figure in 16 years he will probably be driving my LS....lmao... dont see it wearing out ...lol
  22. Thanks, I am I guess a motorhead at heart... I have owned many many cars and believe that any car is capable of unlimited mileage as long as it is maintained properly...just some are more fun than others and some arent worth the money for the chemicals and towels to do it...lmao... thanks for the comment though...glad someone noticed alot of work goes into keeping something ... I am amazed at the amount of people that will wax the paint but not check the oil.... makes it look good on the side of the road I guess....lol
  23. Hope lil man is a lf-a roadster owner....I will be able to drive it ...lmao Thanks guys
  24. That is excellent info to have...I bought my lexus and only got one key and it want a master...the dealer was asking somewhere around 1500 for everything...but, recently the computer went out and I needed a new EMC anyway...the parts manager was really helpful in everything but didnt think of the key...I just called and ask and because of the new computer anyway that they just installed they said if I buy just a key they will fix the problem and program it at their cost due to them missing the opportunity to help with the problem... :) ...I know its not a big help but saving a few hundred dollars in my book adds alot of brownie points with the dealer..... :D
