  1. Try 78 uk pence a Litre...i still think in gallons...but :( :cries: i dont even want to work that out :D
  2. Hi Lexuslad......The main Problem is the OffSet....If you have the standard wheels on the car it will be stamped on them....it should be 50 stamped on them,it will be on the pretty side of the wheel which you see when there on the car. Your car if standard will be running on 205/65/15.... So what ever wheels you buy MAKE sure that the Offset is as near to 50 as possible....or the fronts, mostly will rub...the top of the tyre will hit the wheel arch :( The Offset on most cars is around 38 in the uk....so most aftermarket wheels are 38 Offset...Check out the uk version forum...should be posts about it on there. Ive 18s on my car....would have loved 19 or 20 inch....just cant afford um. Hope thats been of some help ;)
  3. heres the link for it http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s26p486
  4. Hi,have a look though the uk forums...theres was a post topic only a few weeks ago about smells when the a/c was on....someone posted a link where you could buy a tin of this stuff that cleans the system and gets rid of the smell...search through the uk site ;)
  5. Have the wheel balancing checked out again, maybe the weights need putting in a different part of the wheel, had my wheels balanced and had the same sort of thing as you...had them checked again and the car was fine.
  6. Welcome to the club mate..very clean and tidy motor you have there.. what size wheels are they on your motor.
  7. Hi..the car looks sweet mate...and a nice colour(same as mine)..
  8. Looks well smart mate...very nice. ;)
  9. Hi well thanks for the reply, thought id have afew more replys... Like you say think i need a re-gas...just wanted to know,if the air con is working 100% i would imagine that id have cold air through all vents if they were all open.. I was hoping everyone would have posted saying that yes there aircons working fine and that i should have cold air coming out of all the vents...which i dont.
  10. Hi all...i posted on here the other day about me aircon...heres another question for you all... If one only of any of the vents are open at any one time, ive cold air coming out... so if say a side vent only is open then cold air...if one of the centre vents are open then i get cold air...so theres cold air through one vent if you follow what i mean.. now if say both centre vents are only open then, theres more cold coming out of one than the other....now should i be getting cold air out of all the vents if there all open?...id say yes i should...so as in another post talking about the aircon...if its not getting as cold in the car as it should i need a re-gas.. just looking for fed back about these vents...any views anyone please?
  11. Hi all....i was just wondering how well the aircon should work.My LS400 is a mk1 and is around 13 years old,its been hot and dry in the uk today for a change, ive been to a car show and the cars been locked up with the windows closed most of the day.Ive not had many cars with aircon, the last one had aircon but for the model they were know to be a poor system and didnt cool the car very well, anyway im thinking that my 400 needs a re-charge to the aircon because it cools the car but againest hired cars with aircon ive driven in the past when on holiday,my 400 takes a while 10 mins may be to cool the inside of the car.. What with the weather in the states being hotter most of the time..thought id ask you guys your thoughts on the aircon on you cars...any replys are most welcome on this topic...thanks.
  12. Hi...i was talking to a lexus fitter a few weeks ago,he said that the mk1 and mk2 are really all the same underneaf.
  13. Hi.....well on me old car i ran the fronts at 42psi and 36 on the rears.. On the 400 of mine i also run the fronts at 40/42psi and 36ish on the rears. I believe the lower profile tyres(40/45 profile etc) should be run with higher pressures as they are more of a squarer looking tyre to say 65 profile tyres which curve on the corners more if you follow what im saying :)
  14. Mines a BIG HAMMER :D :D Just reading the post, good topic this will come in handy in the future for me... Nice to see so many owners doing the work on there cars themselfs...
  15. Hi all...ive only had my mk1 400 for alittle over a month,my car has 130,000 miles with FSH...not checked the plugs or ht leads etc,my car seems to run fine...this is the 1st V8 engine car ive owned...so im not looking forward to replacing the leads, plugs etc in the future at lexus prices :( Like others on here say..do all the replacements at the same time, then its done...just keep the old stuff for spares.. When people ask me about me car i say "ive got the flat one"..mines a mk1 with i think 243bhp...so ive started at the bottom :D so they can only get better. With the standard wheels and tyres my car in the dry chirps....so top tip..here..if chirpings what you want, buy the cheapest tyres you can find and they will really chirp..... When i bought the car it had a good tyre brand on the rears and cheapys on the front...and it UNDERSTEERED BADLY :chairshot: ... So i swapped them front to back...a lot less understeer :) and less grip on the rear and chirpping and squilling all you like :D Ive put 18s on the car now and im very happy how it drives :D sorry to rattle on..
  16. Hi all,you all forgot to mention the 300lbs of torque :D :D . The mk4 is the one i wanted but could not afford :( Me boss used to have the vvti mk4 and he gave me a lift in it few times...very very nice...so what the 430 is like i dont know...not seen many in the uk.....oneday.....oneday :)
  17. Hi.....nice wheels mate... :) Im not to sure of the offset on the later versions of the LS 400...i know my mk1 the offset is 50mm... Now if the offset of your car is 50mm....your going to have problems :( under heavy braking or uneven roads the front tyres will hit the tops of the wheels arches with a 38 offset...so be warned... The only thing in your favour is that i think my mk1 had a softer spring, damper setup up to the later models,so hopefully theres less travel dew to a slightly harder spring, damper setup on your car....sorry to spoil the party.. Good luck. From the first picture on your 1st post the wheels look as though there going to rub on the arch...
  18. That sure looks Nice, you could walk under my car compared to how low that one is. :)
  19. Sorry i didnt read it all through, did you get it sorted?
  20. this may be of some help.. http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusLS400str.htm
  21. Hi, Theres more feel with the steering with the wider tyres and the car feels more sure footed at all speeds... I was driving back from somewhere the other week on the motorway(freeway ;) ) and it was very windy that day,i was driving 75 to 80mph and i could feel the cross winds,in my view because the tyres are wider the steering is a little more meater and getting around those speeds or faster, the wind still trys to blow the car around...because the springs and shocks are soft for ride quailty. Oh,i forgot to say this on the above post The car also stops better in dry and wet road conditions and under heavy braking the ABS does not seem to cut in so much because theres more grip to slow the big girl down. To be honest my own view again,so dont be upset....If i had to drive my mk1 with the standard wheels,i would sell the car....i didnt find the car very nice to drive at all,TO MUCH UNDERSTEER..... With the wider tyres in my view its a different to drive now :D ... NO MORE UNDERSTEER......and i enjoy driving the car :D Now the car drives how imagined it would before i bought it.. Hope thats been of some help to you.
  22. your not alone mines tired to and i also carry a stick in the boot :D Thanks for another good link though.
  23. Hi my cars the mk1 400,so the standard wheels were 205/65/15s Ive gone up to 245/40/18s MAKE SURE THAT THE OFFSET THE WHEELS ARE AS CLOSE TO THE STANDARD 50 OFFSET OR THE TYRES WILL RUB ON THE FRONT WINGS WHEN TRAVELLING ON UNEVEN ROADS... The differences between the wheels are like above More grip Car is more stable Slightly more tyre noise Less or no understeer :D
  24. Dont know how they done that advert, but surely its computer trickery, cant be real.
  25. *BLEEP* sorry to see your motor in such a mess.Glad that your all ok.Looks like he was travelling at some speed.Gutted for you mate :(
