  1. You need a amp meter disconnect one side of the battery and connect it in series to the pole. Note the draw on the battery with everything off. Then slowly disconnect fuses to see which circuit has the abnormal current leakage.
  2. Try this, Before turning off the car move the dome light switch over to "OFF" not "door ". I also have a slight drain on my 98 LS and after replacing the interior bulbs i found that the dome light is being kept running all the time.It is not enough to produce any light but enough that when i look at the bulb it shows a glimmer of light. It has gotten much better since i did this but i still have to track down the rest of the draw. Also make sure you don;t leave the headlights in auto as it sometimes will not shut down completely.
  3. I agree much better to let it go that put it back together but i am sure it will be sold at auction and rebuilt as a light panel damage car. Some one will be driving it in about 5 months. Maybe we shuold make a stolen totalled vin list so owners can put the vin up so unsuspecting buyers can check in case.
  4. Why not try and put the spare into rotation in the mean time to find the worst or confirm the belt shifting?
  5. without you getting the obd1 codes it could be anything
  6. Probable expansion joints in the road causing the noise and bump.If you have worn ball joints it will also cause the wheel to reangle needing you to correct the steeringwheel to keep the same angle of direction.
  7. wal mart or any parts store like UAP , pep boys or napa will have the plastic ones.
  8. I would contact the makes of the vent visors. It is a significant overlooked problem in there design.
  9. Make sure you get a good quality battery like duracell.
  10. Glad you found it by searching. The other thing i would do is buy a blank with a shell from eBay with a new blade attached as i am sure you blade has detached from the plastic shell as well as being mulched. Soffor about $50 you will be all fixed up.
  11. I have a high mileage 98 LS400 which i also bought only because it was perfectly dealer only maintained. I would not worry about anything other than the usual suspension issues of such a large car.
  12. You simple asked for advice because you didn't know better. You were then informed of the consequences. You took insult to the solutions and started to rant/flame. So you have gone from not knowing better to not caring about yourself your car or others around you. Anyone of the people posting could be driving next to you when a tire lets go. It may not make very little vibrations if any when it is about to let go. All you need is a large enough pothole and they will snap faster than you can stop. I have been hit twice by truck tires causing quite a bit of damage all because of careless owner/operators cutting corners. Remember each wheel nut is torqued to 70lbs, times 5 that is 350. 1 stud and each goes up to a holding pressure of 87.5 = for 4 116.6 = for 3 175 = for 2 350 = for 1 So as they snap each of the others are induced with more pressure at a point which they are not made to hold.By increasing the point of contact and removing the hub from sitting flush those loads are increased by much more than that. It is not a 1 in a million chance it is much lower more along the lines of 1 in 50 chance since nothing in the design of what you have can hold its own pressures. You are asking a stud to hold a wheel against a hub it cannot touch but with a 1/4 inch stud. It is the difference of holding a 5 lb shopping bag with a pencil to hold it up only or holding it with your hand. Which is in effect what you have done.
  13. You do know lexus replaces the engine for free ,right?
  14. I was wondering who Dave was. Happy birthday also.
  15. The key cylinder has a pin that moves the steering wheel. Unless the car has a lockout of movement unless you are in park.
  16. By getting a alarm installed at lexus you are going to be paying 2x what it is worth and Lexus is not installing it but haveing a contractor come to the dealership and install it there. but you will have the "lexus " warr for problems.
  17. I agree it WILL be better as the technology gets its bugs worked out as nothing is perfect the first time around
  18. $500 for a paint job will be a really cheap one and probably not that good looking.
  19. Have you tried turning off your dome light from "door" to "off". You should have tried turngint the lights off of auto and waited to make sure it always turns off the lights when you leave as i am sure it takes more than 15 seconds to get the car serviced.
  20. A good installer can install them no problem. If they don't sell clifford or viper keep looking. Do not go to any electronics super store for install work.
  21. If you don;t see the moisture now you will over winter.
  22. Did you ever find out if your last engine was sludged? It would have made it a free replacment. Also a person can find it much easier to acess the rear bank of plugs by removing the manifold , i personally have enough tools that i have not done it that way. I have to agree the computer sounds a bit funny as well. A misfire is possible as the front plugs have individual coils on top of each [plug. The rear bank has wires going to them from the side an 1 main coil for them ,so there may be a problem with the coil on this new engine.
  23. Some how i do not think the word "Catastrophic" has anything to do wit this problem. You tell me the batteries exploded and sprayed on the passangers maybe, you say the anything which totally destroys the vehicle and its occupants then yes. Other than that your just over hyping a problem, did anyone expect to be the first one to have an RXh on there block would not have issues?
