  1. I am having the same problem with my 98, even the sunroof and the third rear tail light. I am eager to find out what you found out the root of the problem, please share it, as I am at my wits end with this car. shonuffking
  2. Well, latest up date, it was the engine, had it replaced and got it running, now i have a minor electrical problem, my sunroof, and all the windows and my third brake light won't work, everything is working just fine, s there a way to get the electrical system tested and working without having to pay Lexus an arm and a leg to look at it? Any suggestions would certainly be most welcome guys, thanks Well, latest up date, it was the engine, had it replaced and got it running, now i have a minor electrical problem, my sunroof, and all the windows and my third brake light won't work, everything is working just fine, s there a way to get the electrical system tested and working without having to pay Lexus an arm and a leg to look at it? 3. Thats it, Monarch has been banned from the LOC for good. I've watched him bait and insult Josh and his service in the military from day one and its over. Sorry Josh. Anyways Josh, best of luck and well wishes to you. If its any consolation I just went to settlement with a client today that was in Iraq, and she said even though its hot its not humid so its pretty comfortable. Small comfort I know LOL. Hopefully after my above action we'll be able to say the same in the future. firstly... THANK YOU STEVE!!!!!!!!! Its about time lol. I was about ready to retaliate, but i just resigned myself to some 14 year old kid who doesnt know what the *BLEEP* hes talking about lurking on a car site. Ill bet he doesnt even own a lexus, or a toyota anymore. Monarch, i can openly say this cause i know you are reading and everyone here will agree, you are a disgrace to all citizens of the united states, native here or not. Its ok to not support the war, but to not support the people who fight it is ludicris. WE ARE SIMPLY FOLLOWING ORDERS. if we dont, dire consequences will result. Some of us joined because we had to, not because we wanted to. (not me, but some soldiers). If you have something even remotely political to say bin this thread then dont say anything, i dont wanna hear it and im pretty sure most others dont either. THis thread wasnt political. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF...IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING, YOU WOULD KNOW ABOUT THE COUNTLESS SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, AND CHOW HALLS, that the coalition forces have set up in Iraq. Period. Good riddance to bad rubbish. thanks for your support guys, i will be back. *EDIT* Damnit, lol sorry guys, im under my wifes login, didnt know that. Army of One, It's been a while since i've been on the sight. I wish you God's protection and guidance as you go over there. I last went in 2004 and i know that we are the best trained army in the world. With that being said, we still have to believe in one another and look after each other. Take care and do it swiftly and precisely. It's what keeps us alive Stay strong, Shonuffking43
  4. I am at a hopeless situation. I have no power and i have charged the battery. I would like to reset the ecm and how do i check the main fuse under the hood? I think that it will run if i can just get some power to the system. I have no power and i have nothng to loose. Also, what makes this car any different than a chevy or ford? I mean it has an engine, electrical, and all the bells and whisles. So, i need some help with this clunker, i have never had a car that won't run because of the oil getting too hot or gelling. I checked the heads and cleaned out the engine oil pan and all the parts. So why won't this thing run? I want to give up but i won't just yet. Any suggestions, before i torch this car.
  5. I will get a new battery, but i think that jp imporrtz may be my best bet. I am so tired of messing with this car.
  6. Did you let the car sit a month? Then battery went dead. Batter cables on? Take terminals off & check for corrosion Check main fueses & relay for power if & when battery is tested positive. ← checked the main fuse and replaced it and replaced the battery, all i heard was the ding ding of the key in the ignition sound and saw the air bag indicator come on and go off, thanks for the suggestions, do you have any more that i could try to see what the problem is? :cries:
  7. What's up everyone? Well, i had engine gelling in my 98 es and i contacted lexus. they said not no but **ll no to replacing my engine, so being the mechanical guy that i am i took my heads off cleaned them, cleaned the oil pans and cleaned the oil strainer tube, being thorough the army way by the numbers. I have as yet to replace the oil pump but have put everything together. I am not getting any electrical signs of life though, did i blow something out or is it the ecu? It has been the best car i have ever owned so i am keeeping it , but this gelling problem is for the birds you know, Help!!!! jpi said to bring it to them but .... i don't know .... just trying not to hear any bad news, rreally :chairshot:
  8. Well, i am back to report that after cleaning the oil pans, cleaning the heads and putting everything back as it was, and hoping that it would start, i have no electrical power. I think that it is some sort of relay or electrical fuse or inline fuse that is preventing it from getting any juice to the ecu or anything electrical. I think that i will take it to jp imports as i have relocated to the d/fw area and am closer to them. It doesn't look good for the home team though. Any suggestions on the electrical problems as to why it won't start. Any imput would be appreciated. :cries:
  9. I changed my oil myself and even though i keep records it isn't from the dealer or from an oil change place. I could just kick myself in the :chairshot: for not keeping better reciepts on my car. I think my wife changed it about two or three times as i was gone to iraq last year though. It was pretty bad, it was 90% blockage and when i took the oil filter off there was maybe about a half of a cup in it. It felt like a heavy glue too. ← paragraph #3. http://home.comcast.net/%7E94gsxr1100/lexus/oil/Sludge1.pdf ← Thanks for the info will they really replace the engine? I think that it is worth a try and will see if they will, if not well it is a good enough car that another engine and it's back to being a very good dependable car, i just love this car! :P

  11. I already cleaned the heads and put them back on. How do I go about getting Lexus to replace the engine?
  12. Well, i had sludge in my 98 es300 and i cleaned the heads and oil pan and and everything that was gunked up with gelled oil. after new gaskets and reassembly i replaced the main relay/fuse and tried to get some kind of feed back by turning the key on. I got nothing, is there a main fuse other than the one under the hood or did i fry the computer and it so, how do i check it to see if it is really fried or what, can some one tell me what gives? :cries:
  13. Well, i got all the bolts off i am hesitant about prying the aluminum oil pan away from the block, i don't want to damage it and the oul pick up tube is so clogged that i think i will replace it. Should i take the oil pump off and clean it up too? :) I will post pics of the rods and all parts when i get the pan off, cool?
  14. been having engine problems like that too, just took the heads off had a oil gunk problem, anyway i have been having a time trying to get the oil pan off, got all the bolts out it just won't budge. My lex is a 98 es with 100,000 miles in it.
