  1. 2005 ES300..... must be the special addition retro package. as for the tranny.....what was done when it was "serviced" a few months ago?? steviej
  2. as of today 3/13/05: Exxon/Mobil $1.99 for 87 $2.19 for 89 $2.29 for 93 and climbing daily. steviej
  3. in the meantime, why don't you withdraw funds to your linked bank account and thus leave your account open but with a zero balance. This way you will still be active for future activities upon your return. steviej
  4. VBdenny, Actually the original text of the post was removed. The current text in the original post in totally mine. Hence the "edited by statement" at the bottom. This way the originator or the post, footballbrit, would see the error of his posting. Now, should I have removed the post entirely, VBdenny, then no one would have known it was wrong. Additionally, moderators and administrators would then have to respond to a "who deleted my post" inquire. do you follow me?? steviej
  5. I would think not because it is not a sealed or closed system. The dipstick is a perfect place for air to get in. Could have happened when it was being filled, who knows, I brainstorming here. If the fluid is not leaking and the level was low, then I would deduce that the fluid wasn't full to begin with. Air is the only think that I could think of that could displace the fluid from below to make it look full on the dipstick after you tranny work. steviej
  6. exactly, remember, no work of art was created overnight in one sitting. Making your car perfect for you is an evolving process that takes times time and is best done one step at a time. Whatever you can afford when you can afford it. steviej
  7. Mike, I will go you one better to improve this survey. Provide me with three companies (address, web address or phone number) that perform this service. On my next oil change I will do a clean catch of the 5000 mile-old oil and send an aliquot to each facility as well as an aliquot of virgin Mobil 1 from the same case(since that is what I used). This will provide some numbers that you are looking for but it will also give an idea of the variation in results between different test sites given the same sample. steviej
  8. my detailer does this as part of the steam cleaning, he just turns down the stream and goes lightly there. Cleans very well. steviej
  9. maybe your tranny just had a bubble or air pocket that worked its way out. No leaks just a drop in fluid level. Like when the coolant system gets an air pocket. who knows. let it go and move on until is slips again. steviej
  10. 1. dyslexic bodyshop 2. doesn't pay attention to detail 3. really wants a Mercedes but can't decide on E or S class. whichever, it ain't supposed to be 300ES steviej
  11. camlex, I agree with jragosta on his recommendation of when to do the first oil change. There are plenty of threads, recent and distant, that can be found by using the search function as to which is preferred. Warning to all: If this thread continues as a rehash of the great old conventional vs synthetic oil debate, I will shut it down immediately. I hate to take on this attitude, but those threads always lead to the same place. steviej
  12. what would you have charged for all four lights? steviej
  13. That's funny, I put one bottle of Chevron with Techron in my tank it it totally cleans the worries right out of my head. :whistles: Bren, I use big bottle (synthetic formula) every other oil change. You can get it almost everywhere and definately at any autoparts store. I even get mine at the the Exxon/Mobil station that I always fill up at. Chevron stations are as few and far between as hen's teeth in these parts. I know of 1 in a 100 mile radius of me. steviej
  14. undercarraige splash guard. mine comes in two half pieces. held up to underside of front bumper with 5 10mm bolts and 7 or 8 push pin thingies. steviej
  15. they said the tails arrive this thursday from Japan and they will express them to me. steviej
  16. find the fuse for that headlight and make sure it is secure. Also check the ground wire in the haness for that headlight. Wiggle the wire harness around while the headlight is on and see if you can't get it to go out. try this, 1. When you run into a circumstance where the headlight goes out, instead of turing it off for a while, go wiggle a few wires. 2. Swap the passenger side bulb with the driver side bulb. If the problem now happens on the driver side, it is the bulb. If not, then it is in the wiring or fuse on the passenger side. I would venture a guess that a connection is being lost due to heat. As the light cools down when off, it re-established connection. log shot guess but worth a check. steviej.
  17. I will let you know how the 05 tails fit on the 02 when mine arrive. I ordered them 7 weeks ago from www.Lexstacy.com and they still haven't arrived. steviej
  18. I agree and disagree. The rules and guidelines state that the threads must be kept somewhat in line with the topic and members should refrain from personal attacks and arguements. Take it to PM if you have to. If you want to spice up the forum with debatable topics, pick something that hasn't been beaten down to a pulp. Plus, if it is a general topic, discuss it in the general forum. Why must we copy a debate that is going on elsewhere with the same posts. This thread is closed. For further information or review of the great oil debate....please use the Search function and do not reopen old arguements unless you have new data and information to entertain the masses. steviej ES/IS Forum Moderator.
  19. will you lose stereophonic sound? steviej
