  1. as for the batteries, they can be had at CVS, Walgreens, WalMart, any Autoparts store, RadioShack, etc. Use the number on your existing battery to match up. steviej
  2. the PM function (to or from) is inaccessable to members with a post count less than 20. You are currently at 5. You will have to resort to email. steviej
  3. I know they don't. You misread my responce to his post. Let me simplify. If he exports a US market ES from here to the UK, then he will be introducing a left hand drive car to a left side ride society. This will be extremely awkward to operate. steviej
  4. maybe you should rent a mail truck to drive around here for a while. Get used to driving a right hand drive car on right hand ride roads. When you get to the UK the ES will be left hand drive on left hand ride roads. If it were me, I would crack up 10 minutes out of my driveway. I don't think it is worth it. Buy a new vehicle when you get back over there. steviej
  5. It would be too much bother. I would have to drill out a hole for the third bulb (the 194 bulb) and somehow mold the threads to hold the socket in. Oddly enough, you can see the casting marks on the back of the 2005 ES lamps where this hole is to go, but it wasn't acutally there. The other two sockets would either have to be modified or sockets from a 2005 ES would have to be purchased and spliced into the existing 2002 ES wiring. I don't want to do that. Lastly the 2002 ES have a black plastic edge around the entire lamp housing. The 2005 ES lamps don't have it. Becasue if the black edge's absence, a minor gap is created between the edge of the lamp and the inner edge of the depression in the fender that the lamp sits in. Too much for my taste, but probably un-noticable for most others. The lamps go back to Lextasy.com on Wednesday. To streamline the lamps, I just pruchased the Stealth bulbs in 7440 configuration. These are the silver bulbs that illuminate amber. The price has come down. They are now $34/pair. This will sleek up the back a little instead. steviej
  6. I always have my traction control on. (meaning: engaged, as in the TRAC OFF light it NOT illuminated). I spell that out cause there was a misunderstanding of TRAC On and TRAC OFF light on a while back. steviej
  7. AZKS, my 2002 ES came with 16 inch v-rated Bridgestones and they didn't make it past 24,000 miles, but the ride was smooth and very very quiet. If you dirve as you say you do, then you will have no problem getting at least 30,000 miles if not more from the 17 inch tires on the car. You can always post the wheels up on eBay. They will go quickly. You will also be able to find new 16 inche OEM Lexus wheels and tires there too. Lastly, it is not just Lexus. I have noticed these disclaimers on other manufacturers that equip vehicles with high performance tires, too. steviej
  8. JP and cruznroadking, bare with dickholy, this thread is actually a continuation of a previous thread he had posted. Bank 2 Sensor 1 was mistakenly switched out initially because of a misinformed AutoZone employee. The good sensor was discarded and not retrievable. A second sensor was purchased and I am guessing now that it was put in the Bank 1 Sensor 2 spot and not the Bank 1 Sensor 1 spot. steviej
  9. I heard that!!! steviej
  10. I have begun the spring modifications for my 2002 ES. Good news to report and some bad news to report. Good news I mounted the chrome trunk bar purchased from www.l-tunedparts.com. I think it looks very nice. Stock Trunk Bar. Chrome Trunk Bar (inside). Chrome Trunk Bar (outside in sun). Bad News The 2005 tails are not a direct fit. The 2002 curved lamps have three bulbs and the 2005 can only accomodate two. There is a black plastic trim piece on the 2002 lamps and not on the 2005, so this leaves a little gap in the recessed area on the fender. I wasn't comfortable with it. I don't know about the fitment of the trunk mounted lamps because for some reason they didn't get shipped with the fender mounted lamps and haven't arrived yet. Good News Stainless Steel braided brake lines are available for the 2002-2004 ES through StopTech and will arrive on Monday. Bad News The second roof spoiler is not quite right and the entire spoiler has to be reworded, again. The arc of the spoiler is greater than that of the rear window so a gap still existed. Dyna-sport has to go back to the drawing board. I don't know when that will be finished. But as usual, I will post up any information when I can. steviej
  11. welcome to the club. In order to help you and others with the same questions when they first get here, a member as painstakingly written a long FAQ (frequently asked questions) thread that can be found at the top of the ES forum. Please take a minute and read this as several questions will be answered. secondly, please use the search function because you problem is not uncommon, in fact it is very common on the 92 ES. There are endless threads that cover the overheating dilemna. Limit you search to the ES forum, search on words such as overheating or radiator or power steering pump, and open the search up to at least a year. steviej
  12. It is the same just protected by a different fuse. Key must be in ACC or ON position for power. Just confirm this with your owner's manual. steviej
  13. the reports that I read were for 2002+ ES/Camry/Avalon/Solara. I thought it was the "Audi effect" since it was the Audi 5000 that started the whole business of requiring a brake pedal operated shift lock switch. I remember watching 60 minutes as a kid in the late 70's or early 80's. The entire show was devoted to it. steviej
  14. I can't speak for Toyotas that are built in the US, but as for my Lexus that was built in Japan it clearly has a Panasonic Battery that also states "made in Japan". steviej
  15. Bank 2 Sensor 1 is the one between the engine and the radiator. This is the one you changed initially. Bank 1 Senor 1 is in the same place but on the opposite side of the engine. It is hard to get at because it is between the engine and the firewall. Not much room to get your hands/tools in and move around. Bank 1 Sensor 2 is the one that is best reached by going under the car. It is the one that is plugged directly into the U shaped pipe in the exhaust. You can see the side of it in this picture. steviej
  16. at this point in time, no problem has been identified as to any lurching being the fault of the vehicle. All investigations have been dismissed as "user error". Do a search, there were several threads about 6 months ago discussing this. try searching on NTHSB or lurching. steviej
  17. Lexus/Toyota OEM batteries are Panasonic, I believe. I think they treated you very nice cause they know they may be on the verge of a buy back situation. Hope for a fail. Lose the albatross. Too bad your MDX is in the shop....but on the flip side, they ain't without need of service either. steviej
  18. I would bet on it. Instruct him to bring it back immediately to that shop so he can document that the shop was notified. They should at least check out the sensor. They may have cracked the sensor ring. Putting on a properly sized larger wheel should not throw off the sensor if it is working. It didn't on my car either. steviej
  19. nicksan, check into the lemon laws in your state/area. If the battery problem occurs for a fourth time, you may be on legal grounds that they have to buy the car back from you. steviej
  20. Platinum
  21. from what I have been told, the new Lexus SUV to be built on the Sequoia platform will be called the JX. steviej
  22. from what I have been told it will be replaced with a new vehicle called the JX. Supposedly it will be built on the Sequoia platform. steviej
