  1. I tried that once but I could only go as far as the top of my street before the extension cord pulled out of the socket. sj
  2. Funny, I never thought the LS came in a 300. I thought it was always the LS400. steviej
  3. try adding a little brake fluid to the reservoir. Even though it may not be low or even near the low mark, the toy/lex level sensor is very sensitive. the PS belt may need to be adjusted as it may have been removed to facilitate the TB and WP removal and replacement. can't help you on the struts. steviej just out of curiosity, did all three of these problems commence with the return of you car after the TB/WP service?
  4. contact lexusk8 as he shaved all the emblems off his tail end. He even did up a very nice thread detailing all that was needed to be done, with pictures too. blow dryer and dental floss (or fishing line) will get the old stuff off. Then adhesive remover to get the residuals. The new emblems should come with an adhesive backing. steviej
  5. sit down with a big cup of coffee, maybe two, and read the owner's manual and supplemental owner's manual from cover to cover. Many questions will be answered right off the bat. steviej
  6. Josh, there are multiple types of ringworm Don't worry it is not really a worm. Just a very very common fungal infection on the surface of the skin. Mainly come in three versions: isolated to feet, head and torso. The term ringworm comes from the concentric circular rashes. There are several types of creams, shampoos and even a one time only pill, proper treatment depends on the type of ringworm. steviej
  7. on my 02, there is a fuse puller in the fuse compartment under the hood. I have yet to access the fuse panel under the mirror controls, so I don't know if there is one there. It looks like a funky pair of tweezers. sj
  8. and here we go again with yet another genuine Toyota part declaration. I believe Toyota batteries are made by Panasonic. sj
  9. Then do just that!!!!! Make use of your warranty for crying out loud. It should be honored at any Lexus dealership. Why do you put this off? Bay Ridge has been suggested to you multiple times. Go to there and explain all that has happened and all that was done. Ask them to do a drain test and see what they find out. If something comes up, ask the service manager to send a letter to the "snake in the grass" at Massapequa that failed to do this on multiple occassions. steviej
  10. go even simpler than that............. ...........What brand tire are we talking about? Several brands actually develop "flat" spots when the car is parked for extended periods of time (ie: overnight). When you start out the next time it feels like the tires are out of balance. Once the tires are driven for the first couple of miles the flat spots spin out. steviej
  11. me too. I have found that 4-6 lbs below max works out great for both my sets of tires.
  12. The 250 has an AWD model. Don't disregard RWD cars in the snow. When you take the traction control, abs and all the other high tech goodies these cars come with and couple that to a set of four decent snow tires, the RWD cars hold there own in the snow. However, the added security of AWD does make my heart skip a beat too. steviej
  13. that is what I figured, same price in this neck of the woods. steviej
  14. Steve, was the $88 price for just a front end alignement or all 4 wheels? steviej
  15. have you tried to pinpoint the sound with a friend? Drive around until it is normal temp. Then pull into a parking lot with your friend lying on the ground. Park next to him or her and shut off the car normally. Hopefully it will make the sound and the ears on the outside of the car and better pinpoint where the noise is eminating from, especially if it is coming from under the car. You could also try opening the hood before you shut down, have your friend stand by the open engine bay, then shut off the car. See if they can see or hear any where the loud tick is coming from. steviej
  16. Sludge is not a problem in any model year ES if the owner changed the oil at least every 6 months or 5,000 miles. The 2004 on up models have a "maintenance required" warning light that comes on every 5,000 miles. ← Still doesn't mean the owner changed the oil. How many cars are out there with the check engine light on or better yet, black electrical tape over them? Little lights don't mean the owner is responsible. steviej
  17. fengxian now your price quote makes sence. you didn't say that it includes labor charges. here is a thought. talk to Midas, Meineke, Speedy, some chain brake store. Ask them how much they would charge you to replace the line and flush the fluid if you provided the part (the brake hose). Or find a trusted mechaninc of any family member or friend. Brake bleeding is common practice in any shop as is changing a brake hose. Those shops will defineately be cheaper than the lexus stealership. steviej
  18. that's outrageous. a complete set of stainless steel hoses for the front is less than $100. Did you try Autozone, the website lists several and the most expensive is $35. steviej
  19. no problems here, I think you are handling it very well, not at all what is considered a tantrum by some. There are various points brought up that make me laugh. For one, monarch's crack about your age. It doesn't hold water. Sure, some experience comes with age, but it also comes with exposure. I have worked with 30 year old surgeons in major teaching hospitals that can make a scaple sing AND I have seen 50 year old surgeons in small community hospitals that have been in the operating room for 20 some odd years yet look like they just got to med school. In a few posts, jrag is concerned about invalidating warranties. Correct me if I am wrong, but your instructional posts deal primarily with the earlier model ES engine and trannies. It would be safe to say that the warranties on these systems have long since expired. There are all types of people on internet forums. These people cover both ends of the spectrum and every point in between. There are those that are scared to touch (adjust, modify, etc) anything that the manufacturer has done. Conversely there are those that are willing to uncork the machine and see what wonderous possibilities are hidden inside. There is nothing wrong with either case. Each owner is accountable for his or her own decisions and actions. If someone finds something that works, I would hope that they post it up. That is what the internet is for. I would also expect that before someone tries something that they do infact search on it to find validating results. If someone acts on a n=1, then they get what they deserve. I am actually getting a chuckle out of this thread. Kind of reminds me of a guy named Tucker that had great imagination for possibilities with the automobile and the straight laced unbending stoics wouldn't hear of it. Fear that he may be right? Idk. continue on gentlemen, but keep it peaceful. steviej The Moderator.
  20. jrag, on the other hand, someone who tries these modifications themself without consideration of what may or may not happen or without full understanding of what they are doing is not using balanced judgement. Give the membership the benefit of the doubt. If you don't like what was posted, then don't follow it. Let other people make up their own minds. This is the internet. A place where there are tons of remedies, fixes and improvements. Not just for cars, but everything from weight loss to the shortening the duration of the common cold, to regrowing hair, to improving the color of your rose bushes......EVERYTHING. Anything can be posted and anything can be viewed. It is totally up to the reader to evaluate the imformation presented and decided for themselves whether or not to try the procedure posted. The responsibility is solely up to the person who acts upon what they read. Now, with regards to what the instructions that were posted. How do you know that the people who posted problems with what Toysrme's instructions actually followed them correctly. We don't. But yet you trust that they did perform any modification correctly, based on the complaints they posted. This is hardly fair. Fair warning to all: Lets keep this discussion peaceful. steviej ES/IS Forum Moderator.
