  1. took the words from my mouth. Now it doesn't look so Taurusy. I'll do it too. I wonder if it is too late for them to redesign. sj
  2. Chill out aventura, your help is appreciated. It was the wording of your post that elicited alarm. I could pull up fifty moderator deleted posts with a click of a mouse to show you the similarity of your post to actual posts from spammers, for now you will just have to take my word on it. I did give you the benefit of the doubt by not removing your post immediately. I am also aware of your Gnet purchase as stated in your initial post a few days back. Welcome to the site and enjoy. steviej
  3. and your position with this company is? your post sounds like an advertisement for this NavTV place, but the jury is still out on this one. steviej ES/IS Forum Moderator
  4. My friend's Avalon has the Triple Treads. So far, very quiet and very very nice in the rain. Can't say we have had any snow that would qualify as a test, so I don't know about their traction. His wife's 04 Sienna came stock with the Dunlop Sport 4000s. I use this bus for transporting my karate team. They are fine for that platform. Can't speak to the noise because I haven't driven the van with any other tire. I am sick of my Dunlop Sport A2. The traction in snow, rain and dry is great, but after two years the noise level is just way to loud to be acceptable. Suprisingly, the tread left is more than I expected at 20,000 miles. I will be replacing them with my tax refunds or money for my superbowl squares, whichever comes first. Right now, my short list is: Bridgestone LS-V Michelin Exaltos (still waiting to read more reviews and hear more opinions). steviej
  5. If you go to www.Lexus.com and register under the Owners section or call 1-800-25-LEXUS, you can request and owners manual to be sent to your free of charge. Your oil question is not a bad one, however it is a question that always opens heated arguments and a series of opinions to be posted up, AGAIN. Please use the SEARCH function and search All Forums on the word "synthetic" (open the search up to 7 days and older) and you will see what I mean. I am closing this thread not because I don't want you to post, but I don't want a rehashing of the age old debate. Welcome to the club, but usually the easy questions have been asked and answered. Just take a minute to get used to the search function and you will save a lot of time by not having to wait for replys to your questions. Here is a link to the gas octane question. 6. I wonder if ride comfort/smoothness will suffer? steviej
  7. this is the camry taped up. not the lex. notice the cheap look the front end of the ES in the brochure reminds me of an acura..... :( I think he is right. Look at the trunk bar (or where it would be under the cover/tape). To the right side of the trunk bar is what looks like a key hole. Camry has the keyhole, Lexus don't. steviej
  8. Awesome write up. I am going to pin this thread for a while so that it doesn't get lost. Later I will move it to the Workshop tutorial section. Thank you. steviej
  9. are you sure the noise was not present before the mishap?
  10. sad note: tread pattern on tires looks like the Bridgie RE92 :chairshot: nice note: windshield wipers look like Valeo's. steviej
  11. think about your decision in four years when you go to sell the Charger. Careful, don't hit your jaw on the hardwood floor. I think you will find down the road, the Lexus will maintain a better resale value and the Charger will most likely acrue more maintenance costs (I speak from Dodge/Chrysler experience). steviej
  12. People, use the SEARCH function!!!! camlex, why must you revive the age old synthetic oil question as well as drain intervals. It only gets several people back on their soap boxes and the rest of us sit at home, smack the side of our heads and say "here they go again". This thread is CLOSED, as this is a topic covered many many many times and from all angles. steviej
  13. and I would have thought this was covered under warranty. Have you inquired about that? steviej
  14. EerFool, please list the exact "fix" number if you have it. I am assuming you speak of a TSB. steviej
  15. home burned CDs or originals from the store? Some CD burning programs don't finalize the CDs in a way that the CD unit in the car would like so it just sees a disc but won't play it. I forget which ERR code comes up if any at all. steviej
  16. 2002 ES with 10500 bought 9/7/02, today I have 70100 so that comes out to ~1450 miles per month. you got me Doug. steviej
  17. A long way around would be to use the #2 seat position memory switch. Of course this is would require shifting to park and while still stepping on the brake, press the number #2 switch. The number 2 settings would be the same as the #1 settings with the exception that the mirros were in the down position when the memory was set. The mirrors will move to the desired position, then shift to reverse. Kind of a long way around but do able. Definately not like the real thing, though. steviej
  18. yep, I had that on the right side. I only happened when there was weight shift in the car, like pulling into my driveway and stopping (weight shifts front end down) and reversing out of the driveway and stopping (weight shifts front end up). It turned out to be the strut. Something broke up inside. I never found out exactly what it was but they replaced the entire strut under warranty and the noise was gone. I have a somewhat detailed letter that I left with the car when I had dropped it off on a Sunday. I wasn't going to be there when the tech checked it out so I left detailed instructions on what I did to acutally recreate the noise in my driveway while the car was standing still. The car had been in twice for the noise: the first time I was told it was the free floating brake pads and it was normal. They could explain why only the right side "free floating pads" made the noise. The second time it was raining and during the test drive and in the garage the noise couldn't be heard. I then was able to recreate it. Here is the letter that I left for the service manager. Try it. On my flat driveway, 1. I proceeded to grasp the right front wheel at 3 and 9 o’clock and shake the wheel. The sound could be duplicated. 2. With both hands at 12 o’clock, I was able to shake the wheel and have the sound duplicated to a larger and more pronounced extent. 3. With the car raised and supported, I was able to duplicate the sound again with hands placed at 3 and 9, 6 and 12, and two hands at 12. None of this could be duplicated on the three remaining wheels. To further eliminate the possibly that it might be a wheel problem, A. I swapped the right front custom wheel for the stock 2002 ES wheel that came with the car. The sounds could be recreated again when performing steps 1 thru 3 above. B. I rotated the right front custom wheel with the right rear custom wheel and again, the sounds could be recreated in the right front wheel assembly. I hope this helps. steviej
  19. Have you checked out the Warranty forum on this website here. Also look into the LOC vendor: Warranty Direct, their banners pops around the website. steviej
  20. yeah, unless you are 200 miles out in the desert with no cell phone reception. :whistles: steviej
  21. My one gripe and reason for not buying one is I found that the width wasn't enough for me. I was almost touching the window on the left and just about to go shoulder to shoulder with the passenger up front. steviej
  22. Two years ago, my best friends were about two have two additions to their family (twins). They needed to get a minivan. I took them around and we test drove every minivan (except for Chevy and Ford). It came down to a 2004 Honda and a 2004 Toyota. The Toyota prevailed and they just love it. I get to use it to haul the karate team to tournaments. It is wonderful. Great ride, good pickup even with 7 teenagers and adults in it. It has lots of room and plenty of cubbies for everything/anything. I hope this helps. steviej
  23. Doug, What did you go with for bulbs: Philips OEM, PIAA Super cobalt, Hella ? Are you new HIDs autoleveling or did that feature/option debut with my 02 ES? steviej
