  15. I think automakers do it partially to increase the time needed to work on the engine. You can't get to the parts until you get through the covers. Sure, it looks sleek and smooth and clean, but you don't think about what that extra little time does to the bill in the service bay. When I looked at the Audi Allroad, I asked how do the work on the engine? The space under the hood was so confined, the salesman said they have to take tilt the radiator forward and take out most of the front end stuff. I did find that odd. steviej
  16. There are several bulb manufacturers that offer silver bulbs to blend in with the housing yet they flash amber or orange. Stealth Bulbs (www.stealthauto.com), I currently run these in my 02 ES. Mirror Orange from PIAA (www.piaa.com), I have yet to try these, but may spring for the $30 pair nonetheless just to try. Sylvania makes the Silvervision (www.sylvania.com), couldn't try these because they don't make my specific bulb type. you will find a plethera of other off make brands on ebay including LED types, too. steviej
  17. eBay for used parts try: www.car-parts.com (salvage yards) for discounted new parts: www.newlexusparts.com steviej
  18. :o <_< to me, that says the Michies are crap in snow, since I had the RE92s and was horrified by them even in the slightest dusting of powder. Steve, I am not suprised by your findings as many friends up here have the Michies and hate driving in the snow because of them. I will just scratch that tire off my short/long lists. I see more snow than you do every year. steviej
  19. do a search on "oxygen sensors" and you will find many threads. Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the harders to get at. It is between the cylinder head and the cat. on the rear bank of cylinders. It is a tight squeeze to get your hand in between the exhaust manifold and the firewall. The sensor will cost over $200 from the dealer and then another 1 to 1 1/2 hours in labor (at close to $100/hr.) if you have it done at Lexus. A toyota dealership may be cheaper as the same sensors are used in many Toyota models. The sensors can be had online for cheaper and you could do it yourself if you have the tools, time and knowledge. If not, seek out a reputable independent mechanic in your area. When the trouble code (P1135) was read, they may have cleared it, thus the CEL being off. It may come back. The sensor may not be totally faulty, just on its last legs. The last point I must make, is that the trouble code you get may not always point to the culprit at hand. Problems further upstream from the indicated trouble spot may trigger codes from different sensors. It takes a knowledgable diagnostician to figure it out. Replacing every part that every code points to can get expensive. Good luck. steviej
  20. the last two storms they predicted for my area in MA ended up in rain and slush. I ain't holding my breath on this one either. use candle wax on the runners and have a ball. My yard has the big hill in the side yard that goes down to the woods. All the neighbor hood kids come down when it snows to sled her. steviej
