  1. very nice. love the colors. just one suggestion.....more wheel dressing. :whistles: steviej
  2. that is characteristic of all power steering set-ups. you really shouldn't turn it to each full stop, you create undo pressure in the pump. steviej
  3. Bren, the subi is the fixable. I'm glad your wife is ok, that is the main thing. steviej
  4. yeah, occasionally you can get a tire from the manufacturer that is "not quite right". Take it back to Discount Tire with what the second opinion stated. Have them replace the defective tire. Also, have them swap your bent rim for the rim that is currently on your spare. If that rim is fine, then use the bent one for the spare and you won't have to spend any money except for what they may charge you to swap treads on the rims. The spare is just that, a spare. Even if it is slightly bent it will do the job intended...get you to safety if you need to use it. steviej
  5. :whistles: or any other throttle body cleaner (ie. CRC) for that matter, just make sure it says "safe for O2 sensors" on the side of the can. steviej
  6. paid just under $34k with 10,500 on the clock 9/7/2002. Been a pleasure ever since. steviej
  7. I have VSC on my 02 ES300.
  8. you need to call them back and issue a little education to them. scary it is. steviej
  9. I have never had a problem having my tires balanced, fours sets on two differenct sets of rims. Find a shop that has the Hunter Road Force Balance machine and let them go to work. It may cost you $20 for each tire but it is worth it if the tech knows what he is doing and you have a rim that is slightly bent. steviej
  10. thread closed so you won't get more responses here. steviej
  11. affected individuals should get letters in the mail. seems minor and I am sure there is a fix. steviej
  12. try some online parts dealers, they are usually cheaper than going to the parts counter. www.nexlexusparts.com www.lexus-parts.com www.irontoad.com steviej
  13. not true. He was stopped at a light and the lady bumped into him. Talk to the insurance company. He was not even in motion, they will/should waive the deductible his rates will not go up. been through this scenario. steviej
  14. the 02-06 ES has a bumper cover. It is less than $250 online. see here The cover can be removed and repainted. If it is gouged as you say, it may be easier to just replace with new and have a body shop repaint. Your insurance should cover it and make sure they wave your deductible because it wasn't your fault. here is a picture of the rear bumper parts for the 02-06 ES. here is the key: Please select a corresponding number from the illustration below to view the details of that part. 1) Bumper cover 2) Clip Upper 3) Side support Right 4) Side support Left 5) Fastener Fastener Back 6) Bolt #1 7) Bolt #2 Back 8) Washer #1 9) Washer #2 10) Nut Nut Back 11) Side support Screw 12) Protector Protector Back 13) Energy absorber Lower 14) Energy absorber Upper 15) Bar 16) Seal 17) Reinforcement 18) Reinforcement Nut I hope this helps. steviej
  15. If you do a little research, you will find that the RX300 and the ES300 both used the same 1MZ-FE V6 powerplant. Further digging and you will find that the RX330, ES330 and even the Toyota Sienna all use the same 3MZ-FE V6 powerplant. Most recently, I think you will also find that the new RX350 will share the same V6 as the ES350. Just because the horsepower is slightly different does not mean that the V6 powerplant is different. soooo.......:whistles::whistles: right back at cha. steviej
  16. Poorly fitting gas caps and faulty emissions related sensors are the most common causes of getting a CEL (check engine light). But it can get expensive by taking the shotgun approach and just replacing out sensors without knowing which one is bad. Disconnecting the battery only treats the symptom and not the cause. Before you do anything, go to Autozone and have the trouble code(s) read for free. Write them down and post them up here so that we can better help you with the area that trips the code. Secondly, keep in mind that the sensor or problem that is indicated by the trouble code may not be the actual problem. There are hundreds of possible trouble code combinations that could be causing the light to come on. You won't know what they are until you get the codes read. steviej
  17. it is the same with the ES and RX, they use the same engines too. steviej
  18. actually, I think, you will find that both engines are the same inline 6 cylinder (2JZ-GE). steviej
  19. I am very fond of Mothers' products. Nice stuff. I just don't know if I would use all the fancy gadgets, just having them would make me kinda crazy. I would have to use each one. I am nuts like that, so I just take it to my detailer. (Cause I hate doing that stuff mostly). steviej
  20. just ask a mod, I can change the title to whatever you change your mind too. steviej
  21. todd332 I have been using synthetic in my last three cars with no problems. All the cars had oil change intervals of 3000 to 5000 miles from the get go. My last car, since I didn't pick it up until it had 90,000 miles never spilt a drop of oil even when switching over to synthetic at that time. I know the maint. history/oil change interval because all the records came with the car. Anyway, Try mobil 1 synthetic if you wish and watch it. Don't judge by the first week or so, because some oil will inevitably spill out from the removal and replacement of the filter. Give that time to dry up before you make actual assessment of true leakage if you are basing it on oil spots on the driveway. If in fact you do develop a leak, just drain out the synthetic and go back to a conventional formulation. steviej
  22. Chris, I have ordered from L-Tunedparts mutiple times and never had a problem. Pricing is good, delivery time is no better than any other online source. They are part of Carson Toyota in California (LA area). Contact person is Steve Ganz. steviej
  23. we won't know what caused your CEL and TRAC lights to come on until you get the codes read. Autozone will read them for free. Get the codes read and post them up here so we can better tell you what may be the problem. Most times it is emissions related. Start with the things you can check, like you gas cap. Make sure it is not loose. For the time being the car is in "limp mode" when those two are on. steviej we won't know what caused your CEL and TRAC lights to come on until you get the codes read. Your 2005 should be under warranty too, so if you can get it there, take it to the dealer to read and fix if necessary. Most times it is emissions related. 24. in the fourth post of this thread, Lexusfreak explains that it is actually for his Subi Forrester. He's just polling the lexus community for observations on Castrol gear fluid. Gotta read the whole thread to get the whole picture my friend. steviej
  25. you two, jrag and mburn, can be worse than two grade school kids. Nicely, I implied for you two to knock it off. but that didn't happen. You continued at each other for 7 more posts. These posts have been removed and boxed because the membership of this forum is tired of listenting to you two go at it about filtration and particle size and oil testing. your points have been well taken over and over again. If you two can't sort it out via PM then call each other on the phone, but DO NOT drag this out again in open forum. Next time will result in warnings and temporary suspension of posting abilities.
