  1. Yeah, I agree with tckcumming. I really don't think it's the starter either, since the noise occurs after the engine starts rather than during cranking. Hopefully it won't cause any problems, but it just sounds funny and it would be nice to get rid of it.
  2. Toysrme, does the noise you're talking about happen before or after startup? Mine happens right after startup. Is there a fix? Replace the starter? Is something about to go out on me? If so, what? And what propblems will it cause?
  3. ok, I get it. That's where ithe seat heater would have plugged in. Then the whole seat, heater and movement, draws power through the same plug. Thanks.
  4. Toysrme, does that mean there is a heater in the seat, but it's just not hooked up?
  5. When my 96 ES300 has been sitting long enough for the engine to get cold (usually over night), it makes a funny noise when I first start it up. The noise usually does not last for more than a second, but it varies. It's definitely coming from under the hood somewhere. It difficult to describe but is it is kinda loud, sort of high pitched, and sounds like, "reeeeeeee". It's not as high pitched as a squeaky, slipping belt. It's probably a little lower in pitch than when you grind the starter, but it is not as loud as that either. If the engine is warm when started, the noise is not there. Any ideas? Thanks.
  6. I removed the pass. seat from my '96 ES300 today. After unplugging the wiring harness for the power seat and pulling the seat out of the car I noticed that there is another unused wiring harness under the seat. Does anyone know what this is for? I am wondering if perhaps it is for the seat heaters. I know sometimes manufacturers will install features and then not hook them up unless you pay their extra charge. So I was thinking that perhaps the seat heaters have been in the seats all along but they're just not connected? Am I right? Wrong? Let me know if y'all know what the extra harness is for. Thanks.
  7. Hello everyone. New the the forum. Already read lots of posts. Glad I found you guys. I have a 96 ES300 with 177k. Everytime I shut one of the doors my hood rattles. When the hood it shut all of the way it looks like it's aligned well with the rest of the body. But, if I grab the grill I can still shake the hood up and down a little. So there's some play and obviously that is why it's rattling. Is there a way to eliminate the play and the rattle? thanks.
