  2. monarch, I am starting to think that you are a parts manager for a major Toyota dealership. steivej
  3. welcome to the club. yes it can be done. there are many posts about it, the trick is searching on the right words or phrases. i will try a few searches and post what i find. alot depends on the program that copied the CD. I use Roxio and have never had a problem. I read several places that the CD recording process has to be finished properly in order to be played on items other than computers. Some programs terminate the recording process differently. Do the CDs that you burn play on portable CD players or in other cars? The other thing I found with home burned CDs is that stick on labels will interfere with the rotation of the CD in the stack or cartridge. Are you using them? There is a company that will replace the leather on your wheel at a reasonable charge. Keep in mind your ride will be sans steering wheel for 1 to 2 weeks. The company is American Stitches. steviej
  4. I have some friends in Maine, all their cars are like that. :whistles: steviej
  5. Steve, I have a new one that just cropped up. I am no longer getting email notifications that I have been sent a PM. I used to. The first thing I did was check the PM settings and the box for email notification is checked off. any ideas? steviej
  6. did you look in the factory service manual thread here. read the first post and download what you can. steviej
  7. you don't mention what the price of the car will be in the middle of June. steviej
  8. We would then have to split an IS250/350 forum off from the IS300 forum, ditto for the GS and RX. steviej
  9. a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet sometimes does the trick. surface rust can sometimes make is stick to the hub. steviej
  10. Neither does The Management! steviej
  11. 2002 ES EPA ratings on the sticker were 21/29 mpg. Funny, the things we save when we buy the car. Alan, the HID with AFS, is that the system that moves the headlights when you go around corners. If so, let me know your impressions when you have driven it a while at night. steivej
  12. yes and no, as it all depends on what you yourself are capable of doing in the garage or driveway. 1. The code could have been read for free at Autozone (savings = $96). 2. That isn't a bad price through a dealer for the O2 sensor, online may have been a little cheaper. 3. P0135 is bank 1 sensor 1, the hardest one to get at and the dealer is going to charge you at least and hour. If you are good with tools and have the right one, it can be done in the driveway. 4. Toyota/Lexus rotors can be had for $80 each through online parts distributors. 5. $200 for a simple drain and fill where only about 4 quart of tranny fluid is used would be "getting screwed". If it was a complete power flush, where they used about 14 quarts of tranny fluid, then that would be more reasonable. steviej
  13. demand your money back, threaten with BBB and small claims court if they don't send it back to you. Never do business with them again. In the time spend, you probably could have had it done by a reputable upolsterer or leather tanner in you area. steviej
  14. If you have small cracks, replace the belt(s). Belt dreesings should never be used as they treat the symptom and not the cause. Belts are rubber, rubber last about 5 years and then deteriorates. These belts are not expensive. I have heard several reputable sourses say the belts should be routinely changed out every 3 years or 45k miles. I hate to have one go at 3am on a lonely dark highway. steviej
  15. Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S. Little cheaper than the MXVs. Very grippy on dry pavement, awesome in the rain as I have found out lately. We are averaging 2-4 inches of rain a day for the last 4 days. Very quiet on all pavements. steviej
  16. here. $207.99 for the entire assembly. They only list control module and glass separately, so you may have to buy the whole thing. You can even get it in you color, so no trip to the body shop. steviej
  17. I concur with LS400. I have mine done by my detailer twice a year (October and May). Do not use engine degreasers as these will deteriorate, harder, make brittle and dramatically short live the plastic and rubber gromets, hoses, wire covers, belts, etc. More importantly, do not use a high pressure washer, use gently water pressure and try to keep the flow of water off vital electronics. steviej
  18. Steve, I am sorry for her loss of a job she liked. Look on the positive, if the company drops people that quick, they ain't that stable. She is better off not there. The company's money must be mostly soft rather than hard, very common in biotech companies. good luck with the legailities. steviej
  19. I guess I have to think about copying you now? you are making it very hard for me to not go to my dealer and see what they are like. thanks Alan. <_< just kidding buddy, enjoy the ride and I hope the tranny gives you much more satisfaction. steviej
  20. congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site. Hint for future: use the SEARCH function, you may find alot of answers before we can get to them. Is there a CD jammed in the head unit? Do you have a remote 6 CD box in the glove compartment or trunk. If so, is the cartridge jammed? Are all the CDs facing the right way? Do any CDs play at all? The stalk has most likely lost some teeth. Easy fix, costs about $30. There have been plenty of threads in the ES seciton. Read the pinned FAQ (frequently asked question) thread at the top of the ES forum. Also try searching on "antenna" Normal, just water/condensation draining. Are you using the AC more oftern this year? Maybe the drain tube was partially clogged last year and now it is not. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it. steviej
  21. well that makes no sence at all. If I blow a tire, I don't need some little sensor to tell me the tire instantly went flat. I thought these sensors or systems were to tell you when the pressure drops gradually over time. For example if I had a slow leak due to a nail or faulty valve stem. Dave, what is said in the manual? steviej
  22. due to replacing the battery, there may be a security code that has to be entered. This was true for earlier models. I am not sure what it is and where you enter it. steviej
  23. awesome idea. If the yellow stays on the initial side, I would look into the ground connection on that side. steviej
  24. Toby, It is called sarcasm. Maybe you would have felt better if I had put one of those :P ;) :) :whistles: after that last comment? From his first post, it was evident that 05IS300 was associated with a Lexus dealership. Sould he want to offer the membership discounts, then he has to abide by the rules and go through the proper channels the same as other dealerships have. Toby and 05IS300, should you want to further discuss this, I suggest you take it to PM as you both have access to it now. steviej
  25. since the PM function is not accessable to new members until their post count reaches 20, you would not have been able to read any PM. your quoted post above was post number 16. in addition, many people try to sell things on forums like this. some for personal profit and some, like you, to just help people out. Unfortunately, it makes no difference, we have no way of telling the difference even by the context of the post. Rules are in place for a reason. When the rules are pointed out in public forum, the intent is not only to educate the author of the post but also to allow the post to serve as an educational notification to anyone else that may be thinking of posting something for sale. You are not the first to be informed, nor will you be the last. If you feel your dealership may be capable of supplying members with product at a reduced rate based on the number of interested parties, then please see administration about becoming an authorized vendor on LOC. Thank you. steviej
