  1. Maggiano's Italian Restaurant & Cheesecake Factory are my two favorites! :) We eat out a few times a month, otherwise I brown-bag-it for lunch and cook at home for dinner. Favorite place to eat is Las Vega$ ! They have THE best restaurants nowadays! DG
  2. I'm not positive, but it may be the sensor for the outside temperature gauge.
  3. First off, Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there! :) I searched the internet for some info for the minor problem I'm having and found several sites recommending that the car be warmed up prior to shifting. So today I started the car and it idled at around 1,750 rpm. Approx 2 minutes later it had dropped to around 800 rpm. When I shifted into drive, after reversing out from the garage, it shifted smoothly with no "lurching" motion or clunking sound. Do many people have to do this, or should I not have to warm the car up first? Having had all manuals transmissions, prior to this ES300, I'm not used to waiting while it warms up. Also, should the idle be at 1,750 after I first start the car? It seems high, but it did drop after a coupla minutes. Thanks for the help! DG
  4. I'm with steviej - sell them both and go with something newer. If that's not an option, I'd stick with the Camry. My 2 cents! :)
  5. Supermarket checker/office cashier at an "upscale" grocery chain in Orange County, CA. Or should I say "The OC"...haha! It was my first job when I got out of high school and started college. 15 years later and I'm still there. I actually LIKE it! Excuse me, would you like paper or plastic? :chairshot: DG
  6. How does listening to music decrease miles per gallon?
  7. Hiya... I had my transmission serviced a couple of weeks ago at the Lexus dealer. Ever since then, there is a noticeable feel (clunk?) when I shift into Drive. I seem to notice is most when I reverse out of my driveway and shift into drive. I can hear it and feel it. I even notice the "feel" when the car is at a complete stop and I shift back and forth between neutral and drive - guess I get a little bored when I have to sit at stoplights for too long! :whistles: When I drive my roomie's car (2003 Toyota Highlander) there is nothing noticeable when shifting into Drive. The shifts are smooth like buttah. :( Any ideas? Dealer screw up? DG
  8. Hey, Douglas.... My seats came out perfectly. Not tacky or sticky at all. This is the method I used: damp towel to apply cleaner damp towel to remove cleaner dry towel ---------------- damp towel to apply conditioner i applied 3 times (waited about 1/2 hour between applications) parked in sun for approx 4 hours used dry towel to remove any excess conditioner This is pretty similar to the instructions I found here. Hopefully, this will work for you, too! The day after I cleaned/conditioned them I had two compliments from passengers on the look & feel of the leather. :) DG ps - is it possible that you may have reversed the order and done the conditioner first, followed by the cleaner? Just a thought. I did find myself grabbing for the wrong bottle every once-in-a-while.
  9. I have the Michelin MXV4s on my 99 and love them. I had used Michelin's on all of my past cars and they've been great! My 2 cents worth! :)
  10. Wow! I'm truly amazed at how great my seats look and feel after treating them with Lexol. There were a few set-in stains (mainly pen marks & an oily thumbprint) that didn't come out, but the difference in feel after the treatments is awesome. Thanks for the great advice everyone! DG
  11. Love all the advice in this thread. I'm letting my Lexol conditioner "bake" as I'm typing this. I'm probably gonna go apply one more coat then let it sit for the rest of the day. Just wanted to let you know that I bought my Lexol products at PepBoys and they were on sale for $5 a bottle (spray bottle). I'm not sure if the sale is nationwide, but it might be. Normal price was $8.97. :) DG
  12. I have a 99 which is an automatic. If manual transmission were an option I would take it without a second thought! I miss my 5-speed...
  13. Here's the link for the 1197 - 2001....er...1997 - 2001 :) http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/used/re...dex.cfm/id/2271
  14. Thanks, steviej... I'll give it a try tomorrow. I think I'm outta luck, but it's worth a try. The manual doesn't say anything about shuffling a single CD. There have been times where it seems like a single cd is shuffling, but I'm not sure how I did it - could just be coincidence.
  15. Hello! I posted this in the "Audio" section but didn't get any responses: Is it possible to shuffle the songs on one single CD, rather than shuffling all of the CDs in the changer? Sometimes it seems like it stays on one cd rather than going from cd to cd, but I could just be imagining it. Is there any type of button combination that allows just one cd to be shuffled? Thanks!
  16. Nice looking car! Great pics!
  17. Hello... Is it possible to shuffle the songs on one single CD, rather than shuffling all of the CDs in the changer? Thanks!
  18. JPI - thanks for posting the pics, and for all the info you have on this problem. I just recently purchased a 99 ES300 w/ less than 14,000 miles on it. From what I can tell, the last maintenance performed on the car was on 06/06/2000 when the car had 6,121 miles. Unless I didn't receive all the paperwork, it looks as if the car went nearly 3 years / 7,500 miles without an oil change. After I bought the car I immediately took it to the Lexus dealer for the 15,000 mile service. They said that everything looked great. With the 15,000 mile service, would they be able to tell if my car has the oil gelling problem? Are there any additional services I should get to assure there aren't any problems? The car drives like a dream and I haven't noticed anything that would make me think there are any problems. Are there symptoms I should watch out for? I saw the post on "blue smoke" and I've never noticed that in my car. Thanks for all the help! DobieG
  19. Sorry to hear the bad news, steviej. Bummer 'bout the car, but I'm glad you're ok!
  20. 15k miles service went well! No oil gelling - yeah! I also had them check (service) the points that steviej mentioned. The only things I need to get (in the near future) are new tires. Otherwise, the mechanics and service managers were amazed to see a 1999 with less that 14,000 miles on it. :) Regarding the *humming* from the speakers: they are going to need the car for an entire day to remove the stereo and components to diagnose the problem(s). I'm not so sure I want them removing the stereo. I'm afraid I will start to experience phantom rattles. The same thing happened in my Maxima when I had stereo problems.
  21. The hum is actually coming from the radio. The hum from the speakers, though constant, intensifies slightly as I step down on the gas pedal.
  22. I had the car out for a "real" drive today. I did notice a change in the pitch as the car accelerated. Didn't notice it when the car was in park, but it was noticeable as I drove around. Hmmm? To lexusk8 - no offense taken towards your comment. :) Far be it from me to pass up a good deal! :D
