  1. Thanks for the info. The clunk isn't noticeable at all when the engine is warmed up (between 1-1.5 rpm). It's only evident when I don't let the car warm up after it's been sitting for several hours or overnight. Is that still the dogbone mount? Also, where is the dogbone located? I know it's behind the radiator by the oil filter, but what does it look like? I wasn't really able to see anything resembling a dogbone...
  2. I warm it up for about 2-3 minutes; by then the rpms are at 1K. If I don't let it warm up, the transmission clunks when shifting from Park to Drive/Reverse. I've also noticed that the actual movement of the shifter feels tight, as well. After it's warmed up, pulling the shifter from Park to Drive/Reverse is much smoother.
  3. also check the bushing in the dogbone engine mount. ← Should I have the throttle sensor and dogbone mount bushing checked even though the clunk doesn't occur after the car is warmed up?
  4. uhhhhh...? umm....? you sure that's the right link? :o
  5. My 99 does the same thing if I don't let it warm up after it sits un-driven for several hours. I'm in SoCal where it's about 60 degrees in the morning and it still takes a coupla minutes for the rpms to drop to under 1k. The car also shifts in drive and reverse with a clunk if I don't let it warm up. Dealer said it's "totally normal"...sound familiar? <_<
  6. Looks great! Enjoy it! I miss manual transmission! :(
  7. Great news! Sounds like JPI does great work!
  8. Welcome! Congrats on the Lexus. I'm sure you'll enjoy it for years to come... It's a good idea to sign up with Lexus. Here's the link: https://owners.lexus.com/lexusowners/ssl/no...th/Registration The site offers some perks and has a hand on-line owner's manual! Enjoy!
  9. Hello... There are many threads on this topic that recommend Lexol leather treatment to keep your leather looking top-notch. I use it a couple of times a year and the leather on my 99 ES looks brand new. I purchase mine at Pep Boys.
  10. Looks great! Nice price, too! Enjoy!!! :)
  11. I'll own in 4 more years....if I keep making the payments!!!! :whistles:
  12. I love the drive up the 395 from San Bernardino County to Lake Tahoe. The drive is absolutely beautiful and the road passes through many quaint towns.
  13. Where is the dogbone mount? How does using the emergency brake help? Thanks... :)
  14. Ditto! My 99 does the same exact thing. When I had the dealer look at it (I had originally complained about the clunk/jerk when shifting from Park to Drive/Reverse) he said he couldn't find anything wrong. He said to just allow the car to warm up. Mine also takes about 2 minutes from 2k rpm to 1k rpm. It's weird though, some mornings it starts at 2k and some mornings 1,500 rmp - no big differences in temperature each morning. hmmm?
  15. monochrome looks sweet! thanks for the pics.
  16. Nice cars! The Lexus looks great. The flashing bunnies made my head spin.....

    Shoes...

I love ECCO brand shoes. They range from casual to dressy and are extremely comfy. I used to get my shoes from eBay, but, like loads of others, I'm addicted to zappos.com.
  18. I'm with everyone else, if the ES was a choice that would have been my first pick! :)
  19. If it's the Acura 3.2 TL that would be my choice. Otherwise, the Avalon. :)
  20. It's been about 6 months since I cleaned & conditioned my seats using Lexol. This time around I took the advice of LOC member ACF and applied the conditioner by hand. It worked great and seemed to take less time to apply. To top it off, my hands are softer than ever...added bonus! So, thanks for the great tip!
  21. I'm with you, Neil. I like the feel on my 99 better than the 2003 that I drove. I love the interior of the newer model, but I like the feel of my 99 better. I'm glad I'm content - the last thing I need is to get myself into a higher car payment! :)
