  1. Not uncommon, I had the same thing happen. Not to mention that I lost the back lighting to my heated seats and gear selector. You can go up to radio shack and pickup some LED's. Now mind you they are dimmer but I always felt the factory was too bright anyway. I choose to use red I kinda like it. dunno bout the stereo thing i have the factory nav but i have seen posts on this. use the serach method and look for it. no cig lighter does have a green light around it, check fuse for this one. heated seats.... there is a bulb under these switches........not normally the fuse. normally just the bulb located UNDER the switch.... have to take out part of center console to access these.... since sometimes you cant get a answer on here i sent u a pm but i know DCFISH sells replacement lcd's for stereo/climate here's a old post http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=52678
  2. I've had the same issue. I have an 01 gs 430...took it to two different dealers and they told me that this not abnormal and it is what it is. I fully agree with everyone here on the board, that there is a problem. If they are not going to help us fix the issue then it is just someone who is going to have to do process of elimination. I'd start with the easy and cheap. I've had the dash board out of the car and believe me, it is not fun. What I found is the the blend door does not close fully leaving it partially open the mixture is off. The question is that who is giving it bad information? One of the three sensors, is the head unit of the heater out of calibration>? Erik no...........try replacing your servo motors......i have checked old posts and will be doing mine AGAIN shortly (i replaced them with used ones being cheap and they werent ne good either) so i got mine pegged down to servo motors. oh n fyi u dont need dash out just glovebox unless its drivers servo motor and u can get away with JUST pulling dash down. i will be doing a write up with pics on this shortly.....but like MOST gs's mine turned out to be a servo motor problem which is what your is if the blend door isnt fully closing
  3. ewwwwwwwwwwwww dont go to stearlership next time. i got my whole timing belt kit (bearings, idler pulleys, belt, etc for like 100)
  4. ok u ALL over the place so let me see if i can decipher this. dark green jade is ok too. if your looking for nav just get a gs430 or a gs300 that someone bought that feature on....stay oem ACTUALLY call insurance company the 430 is cheaper on insurance. i promise i priced all 3.....gs400 chepear than gs300 too. its weird but i guess if they assume u can afford a car that was in the high 40's-low 50's (depending on options) then you'll drive it better. only thing i can figure. i dunno i have seen another on google but just those 2.....they didnt offer a gs400 AFTER 2000 they turned it into the gs430 (4.0 liter gs400 and 4.3 gs430) same motor, better steering (factory l-tuned steering ecu) but still kinda sloppy steering... n yes they offer that color but dont know i have ever seen a gs430 with it normally just the gs300 and gs400. i looked at one before i bought my 2001 gs430.....if i coulda got dude to fix O2 sensors and cat's and dropped priced (wanted 13k for 110k mile) i would bought that but LUCKILY i found my v8 gs430 RIGHT when gas was getting high last year and no1 wanted them so i flew to manhattan and picked up a cherry 73k gs430 for right over 14k with ALL factory options except spoiler and 17" chromes.....drove her home. since im always driving i have put her up to 97k in a little over a year. (i travel ALOT n its normally personal travel have a good turkey day............good luck with buying your gs. take your time n find one you want. i still want a black on black (black exterior with black leather) or that blue with black leather but i just couldnt pass up the condition/price on mine
  5. well since i got mine free i wont argue with it but im not paying the $40 lexus wants to drain old tires and fill them will nitrogen. either way im happy with them as they are....need to start checking pressure more often though :P just to be sure

  7. yes im farely certain thats the waterpump pully. im sure someone will correct me if im wrong......i just went and checked my car and it looks to the the water pump pulley.
  8. welcome to the LOC. the 1st one im not sure about.......dunno that i have ever seen one that light before. the 2nd one it just looks like someone redid the leather......torn and had it reupholstered or something like that. but im not sure. i havent ever seen a 2 tone factory except the saddle n black interior and i think like all the others its just on the door panels where it is 2 tone....mine is solid khaki or tan or we. like most are

  10. we've had many discussions about this before....search some old posts. i personally have nitrogen for a few reasons, it was free to me when i got my new tires, it is supposed to hold a more consistent tire pressure due to the ambiance of nitrogen and it tends not to fluctuate with temperature like air does. all these people scream and rave about it doesn't do anything or ne good BUT i highly doubt all these car manufactures are starting to put nitrogen in there cars just for the fun of it without having done SOME research and it obviously showed a positive effect for them, highly doubt they gonna waste the money if it wasn't doing something positive. here read a few of these.......some are arguing for and some against this http://www.tiresavernitrogen.com/?gclid=CL...CFSCysgodfBS8Tg http://www.getnitrogen.org/why/index.php http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2...-instead-of-air http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/09/automobiles/09MOTO.html
  11. on my old 1993 es mine burnt out, like the whole unit and even though i didnt smoke i replaced the whole assy (ebay) as i did use a radar detector and my phone charger. ALSO, u know your posting about a ES series lexus in the GS section of the forum. might be able to get better help in the ES section sir. but like djspawn said try the fuse first then i might look into replacing the whole assy might be able to get one from a junkyard cheap
  12. you might wanna check your gears while your in there and see if your missing a synchro or ne teeth off ne off them, y wouldn't you just replace the oil pump instead of sorta "rebuilding" it like you seem to be doing? if its a "jap spec motor" as you say it wont have Chinese writing on it......it might have Japanese writing on it but highly unlikely for it to be Chinese writing. that's kinda insulting too, don't you think.......especially to ne Asian people on here
  13. Thanks for the help. I'll go that route first. I do wind out my gears on occasion so maybe the high RPM's had an impact... welcome to the club BOTH of u. I'm not saying that's what the problem is but the part is a idler pulley he's referring to, not a idle pulley just so you don't have ne miscommunications. since the idler pulley(s) (i believe there is only one on the gs400/gs430/sc400/sc430) is/are part of the scheduled 90k maintenance and your coming up on 90k y not save yourself some time/money and do all of the 90k maintenance at the same time? this way u don't have to have someone go right back into working on your car right after you got this one problem fixed. the higher R.P.M.'s shouldn't have affected these, they are just a part that wears out over time just like everything else. but they will make a whining noise when they going bad as they starting to "loosen" make sure your belt isn't all frayed and tearing right now to or you might have to do this sooner than later

Y wouldn't u just put a aftermarket sub/amp in? im gonna, im replacing my factory 10" ML sub for a 12" pioneer ts-sw1241d sub. more bass, better sound, bigger sub, EXACT same location with a custom shallow box in trunk you'll never see less u look under the trunk for it

  17. dont know much about the 3rd gen gs series. i heard they handle like a !Removed! even with that tight suspension and they have some silly quirks with the auto sensor on windshield wipors etc etc. ask around n the 3gs section they might be able to help u better

  19. welcome to the club. yeah thats a fairly good deal IMO. IF its a CPO, I guess its still a good deal even if its not but with the way the economy is and gas prices if u haggle or shop around you should be able to find some cheaper. r u sure its 40-50k on it? i have a 2001 gs430 with the ML stereo and nav i bought about a year and half ago with 72k and it now ALMOST has 100000 (its at 97,000 but i drive alot and go on many trips) that mileage just seems really low so make sure its all legit. i always recommend carfax's and what not if its a CPO u wont have to worry about it, if its at a dealer alot of dealers provide u a carfax IF u request one. make sure if u looking for a certain color then, thats what u get if not u wont be happy. me i wanted a black on black or a white on black or my fav exterior color the blue on black (not sure if they made these) but i was impatient and couldn't pass up the price/condition of the car i did buy. im happy with it but i still yearn for a black on black, white on black or the exclusive mica blue (or is it spectra blue) on black. no in this generation they didn't make a 4x4 (im assuming you meant to say all wheel drive as cars dont have 4x4 :D ) nothing really 2 know bout them, make sure its maint up2date and it appears well maintained. if its not a CPO ask if u can have a independnt mechanic look at it. i did and glad i didnt buy the gs400 blue gs as it needed new cats, o2 sensors, had 100k and independant dealer still wanted 13000

  22. y r u typing in all caps? r u angry at someone or something? do u not have a drop light or a flashlight? can u pinpoint where the leak is actually spewing from and we can attempt to help you better or during the day can u snap a few pics?
  23. yeah u might but then you'll just get lost as you still back in 2004 and by the time u find it i'll have been there for hours . i still dont understand why they would do that kurtk. seems like them woulda built something to replace it........n actually they should be very close u def wont smoke us. think our torque will help us here even with you'lls little e-shift and our slow shifting tranny. havent seen u active on the "other" site u still on?
  24. The 430 does not make more power than the 400. It does however, make a bit more torque and makes said torque at lower rpms across the powerband. that's what i meant. i didn't mean more horsepower. i meant more torque.......... tomato, tumato. ty noob and welcome to the club. B)
