It depends on what you want. The GS is sportier...
  2. Well by the terms of the agreement they cannot raise my rates for a comprehensive claim. Its considered an "environmental catastrophe". My agent and I go way back, if he had thought it would raise the rates he'd tell me. I trust both these shops, it'll turn out great...
  3. Oh I would never do it myself...its usually so cheap I'll leave it to the pros. Got some estimates. From my bodyshop, with repairing and repainting the roof, top of the hatch, and replacing and painting the aluminum hood...$4,000-$5,000. From my PDR guy, $2,000. Plus the windshield too... If the PDR can come out well no doubt thats what I will want to do to preserve the factory paint finish. I'm concerned about the aluminum hood though...what may wind up happening is the roof being done by PDR and the hood replaced and painted. We'll see. I'm meeting the insurance company on Thursday I just wanted to see some estimates first so I can be prepared to react to what they offer me...

What is your definition of "better"? To me the LS is a much better car than the GS...its bigger, smoother, quieter. The RPM is really a function of the transmission and the gearing in the final drive ratio. The LS has a 6 speed transmission which helps bring that RPM down.
  5. The Harmony is not of the appropriate speed rating for the ES. Its a good tire for a minivan or something like that, but to get the best ride out of a car like the ES you need a grand touring tire.
  6. That is definitely true... I'll be getting an estimate this week...I'll let you know what it'll cost...
  7. You know whats sick, those rims cost more than that LS probably...
  8. Trust us...you really don't want the Energy S8...the Primacy is a better tire with better specs and reviews, a treadlife warranty where the S8 has none...and they are cheaper. My set has 40,000 miles on it and probably has another 10k to go, and my Energy MXV4+ I had before were done at 30k.
  9. And they would have been another $100 cheaper or so online than at Sears... Totally not worth it to pay the dealer for tires. Huge labor rates when it comes to mounting and balancing tire shops probably have more skill and better equipment. Even when I used the dealer for service, I still wouldn't buy tires from them...
  10. Yeah thats a good choice. I drove the M37 and REALLY REALLY liked it. Big improvement from the previous M... Beautiful interior. I wouldn't even consider a GS over the M37 for instance.
  11. Niether of which are very good tires. I would recommend the Michelin Primacy MXV4. I've had those tires plus several others on that car, and the Michelins are the smoothest and quietest. The Dunlop 4000s aren't made anymore, you can still find them online but Dunlop replaced them with the Sp Sport 5000. Its a quiet smooth tire but treadwear is VERY poor...around 20,000 miles. I have the Primacy on my car now and they have about 40,000 miles on them and probably have another 10k left.
  12. I dunno, the Android phones don't hold a candle to the iPhone IMHO...
  13. Oh I've had PDR done many times. I'm definitely going to claim it though even if its only $500. Its a comprehensive claim and wont hurt my rates. They owe me ;) My comprehensive deductible is only $50. There's actually a small star in the windshield too that I didn't see originally, so that will have to be repaired or replaced too. I bet it'll be more than that here. I paid $200 to have maybe 5 hail dents removed from the trunk, hood & roof of the Lexus. My neighbor had some hail damage repaired with PDR a few years back that was pretty similar in scope and it was $1,700. The hood and hatch of the Prius are aluminum too which is much harder to work on for PDR because it doesn't have any metal memory. So they may have to replace the hood and hatch and do PDR to the roof which is steel.
  14. I hate to, but driving around during the business day sometimes I just don't have time to stop and eat. I'm careful about what I get, usually chicken tenders or something like that...no fries.
  15. Hey gang, Well my wife was driving home on the GW Parkway yesterday evening and a monster storm blew up. Golf ball and baseball sized hail, she was in bumper to bumper traffic and trapped. I was still at my office in Bethesda and my car was safe in the garage...but it was an incredible storm...I've never seen hail like that. I was on the phone with her when it blew up and it sounded like she was being pelted with rocks...couldn't even hear her. She said it was terrifying, people with shattered windshields and rear glass. Somehow her glass all survived (which surprised me because of that huge and very flat windshield in the Prius) but the hood, roof, and hatch weren't so lucky. 50-60 up to silver dollar sized dents. Really bad. I'm sure it can all be dealt with with PDR, but its going to be $1,500+ I'm sure even PDR...I mean it'll take all day to do. The biggest comprehensive claim I've ever filed has been for a windshield. Any tips?
  16. Niether. Look at the Michelin Primacy MXV4, cheaper and better than the S8s and with a treadwear warranty while the MXV4 S8 has none. The S8s are really only an OEM tire...most tire shops don't even stock them, they have the Primacys.
  17. Do a search on the forum... The Michelin Primacy would be my reccomendation as well. Except...not at the dealer. If you buy at TireRack or use TireRack to haggle with a local shop it will be more like $650-$700 installed probably...
  18. Is he a mechanic? Or just somebody who owns a car dealership? If the lower mounts are bad they will cause the dogbone mount to go bad again. Not rotating or balancing the tires isn't going to have anything to do with that. The bent rim is going to fix the bulk of your issues I bet. As for the motor mounts...thats way too young to be having all those mount issues IMHO. How long have you owned the car? Must have had a hard life...
  19. If she likes a sporty car though she's not going to like any LS...
  20. I have had several people tell me its awesome...but I don't really see the allure...
  21. His 07 is almost the identical car to your 2010.
  22. I have the same problem from time to time. Maybe common on the ES, but I've had Lexus sedans for 12 years and never had this problem until the ES. Try out some of the online parts suppliers, www.lexuspartsonline.com, http://www.mylexparts.com/ the prices will be way better than the dealer. Try and find an independent shop to do the replacement...
  23. Yeah the RXh has a lot of wood, more wood than in the RX300. Its on the console, wheel & shifter, and down all the doors, on the console in the back, etc...
  24. I definitely agree...
  25. If the ride on your IS is better I bet its the tire pressure...
