  1. Personally, since I am so particular about my cars I don't know if I would ever really be satisfied with a used car. It would have to be perfect... The pros for the LS are that its a V8, RWD, bigger, smoother and quieter. The pros for the ES are that its cheaper to fuel, insure, and maintain. I don't think you can go wrong either way though.
  2. The single biggest thing that will help with noise is tires. The difference in the sidewall height between a 15 & 16" rim is so small you may get some benefit out of ride control, but probably not noise. What I would do is look for a good grand touring tire, like the Michelin Primacy MXV4. Don't know if they come in that size, but I think you're going to get more return from that than spending money on slightly smaller wheels.
  3. Hey all, Not to start another debate between premium and regular fuel use, but we all know in the Least Lexus has always SAID that premium must be used in all their models. Well the only change for the car in 2011 is that the manual will now read that regular fuel is required and the HP & torque ratings will be lowered slightly (from 272hp to 268hp). I suppose its because of the competition now mainly being cars that only require regular, like the Genesis, LaCrosse & MKZ?
  4. Wow...thats wild. Could it be something up in the engine compartment maybe that is loose and clunking and be totally unrelated to the suspension? At least Lexus is working with you trying to solve it...
  5. Its because those cars are just coming off of 3 & 2 year leases. Last year it was the 2006 you saw everywhere, now 2006s are real rare. Next year you'll see way more '08s and few '07s. Its a great time to buy a 460 if you want one of that year...
  6. You might also want to check ebay. That car is getting pretty old, but there used to be a lot of those wheels on eBay. Make sure that the wood isn't cracked on the one you buy though, thats really common when the cars sit outside.
  7. That makes a lot of sense...
  8. Yeah all things created equal, I definitely think the cashmere mats look better when they are clean. What color Lloyd mats did you buy, did you buy the heavyweight ones or the middle ground ones? We have the middle ground ones in the Prius they are still a lot nicer than the Lexus mats... I think about it this way. My '03 was $39,675 in 2003, my '10 was $41,215 in 2010. Thats a difference of $1,540. Not looking at inflation, this car is $1,540 more for: 1. More power...waaay more power. 2. An extra gear in the transmission providing much better fuel economy 3. Backup camera, parking assist 4. Power tilt/telescopic steering wheel 5. Cooled seats 6. Keyless entry & start On top of other little things. Now had I had the opportunity to buy these features for $1,540 in 2003 I would have thought it was an extraordinary value. When you think about the fact that I paid EXACTLY what I paid for the 2003 for this 2010, $35,000 I think its an incredible value... Why thank you. I did consider it, and may still. I have always thought the 07-09 looked better with the spoiler and door moldings, but with the chrome moldings at the base of the doors on the 2010, I don't think the door moldings look right, but the rear spoiler I still like...
  9. I never had that issue in the '03 though...
  10. Thanks guys! The paint color is awesome, you know me I have to have some kind of unique color. You gotta see it in person... The color of the floormats isn't an issue, it works really well and ties in with the color scheme of the interior. I do agree with Tim that the carpet in the car is not nearly as nice as in the old car. At some point soon I will buy a set of Lloyd heavyweight mats like I have in the '03 for it which will help matters, but my plan is to try and match the darker color. Real light mats are just terrible to get clean. They definitely decided to save a few bucks on the carpeting...but it is still a LOT of car for the money. I actually really like the car from the rear personally. Unlike my '03, I don't think the '10 looks unflattering from any angles.
  11. I hardly think there is anything wrong with the car, its just a weird quirk about how straight appears from inside...
  12. The best product I have found for cleaning interior trim peices without leaving a gloss behind is a product called Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel: http://www.autogeek.net/ultima-interior-kit.html That is a kit that includes the Shampoo Gel, a small bottle of their Interior Guard Plus (also VERY good) and an applicator sponge. You apply the gel with the white side which is just a touch abrasive and then wipe off with a towel. When done and dry you apply the interior guard with the red side which is soft and let it set without wiping off. Leaves a great OEM matte finish to the black panels. Can be used on the leather seats too.
  13. I have noticed the exact same thing! Very weird...
  14. Hey All. My new 2010 has the Bridgestones which as well all know are pretty crappy tires. I'm going to ask the guy who sold it to me if he can get Lexus to allow the tires to be swapped with the OEM Michelins that also come on the ES. Anybody ever had any success getting them to do that?
  15. Uh...no. If the mechanic broke the steering knuckle while performing other work on the vehicle...he should replace the knuckle at no cost to you. Ask him if you pulled into his shop's parking lot an accidentally drove through the front office. Would that just be "bad luck" and would he not expect you to repair the damage you did to his property?
  16. If I were Obama at this point, I think I would hope I'd be voted out in 2012 LOL
  17. There should be a seperate list for each phone, there are 6 on each page and 3 pages, so 18 speed dial presets... Its very easy to do...
  18. Have you seen the compero test in the latest Car & Driver? They felt the latest 5 series had been engineered more for luxury than sport for the first time ever, first time with power steering ever, floatier ride. It came in 3 out of 4 behind the Infiniti M and the ancient Audi A6...
  19. The milky white substance was probably residue from the harsh cleaners...
  20. Here's a little teaser I took from my phone. I'm going to go out tomorrow and take much better pics. So far really enjoying the car...
  21. Thats my guess too... It could be that the new iPhone is just not compatible...
  22. Yeah for me the tax benefits of leasing are too good to ignore. Thanks guys! i"ll get some pictures this weekend...
