  1. Thats actually not true. If they order parts from a wholesaler it may wind up on a Carfax, but I have never had a minor body issue show up on a Carfax. If its something that can be repaired with paintless dent repair I wouldn't care, but if it has to be painted and such then I would have an issue...
  2. My thing is, the customization really isn't attractive for me. I want it to be set up in such a way that it makes sense and works well right out of the box. Thats why I like Apple, everything just works really well and you don't have the devote any time to getting things set up how you want them.
  3. You may also want to remind him that you have limited patience before you're going to start demanding a new radio...
  4. A non interference engine has tolerances such that a loss of engine timing won't cause the pistons to ram into the valves. An interference engine is the opposite...
  5. Its called Verdigris Mica. I've always liked it...
  6. No reason to be snippy Billy. This forum is a source of information for many, and I believe its unsafe to run S rated tires on the vehicle...so does Lexus...so does Michelin...so does TireRack. In some european countried its illegal to mount tires of a lower speed rating than what came from the factory. If you choose to ignore those viewpoints that is your choice, but I'm not going to sit here and let you reccomend a tire to our members that I, the vehicle manufacturer, the tire manufacturer, the largest tire retailers in the world, and the governments of several european countries feel are unsafe without saying something about it. Lots of great tires out there, and for the same money as what those tires cost someone can buy a set of tires that are appropriate for the vehicle.
  7. Thats an incredible find!
  8. I think its great. Tesla has a lot of EV technology and their vehicles are beautiful, I think alongside Toyota they have the best chance of bringing to market a fully EV car that people can afford and would want to own.
  9. I believe all Lexus engines with VVT-i are interference engines.
  10. I would buy the OEM pads. Try www.mylexparts.com
  11. So this begs the question, would you put an S rated tire on your GS or LS? If acheiving a higher speed rating makes for a "great handling tire" then by that logic it does change the handling characteristics of the vehicle. So if you are running S speed rated tires on the LS which is designed for V rated tires...your vehicle will not handle as it was designed to by Lexus. We're not arguing over H rated tires...we're talking about S rated tires. FWIW, the ES is limited at 132 and it came with V rated tires. The issue is, lets say a deer darts out at you when you're driving down the road at 70MPH and you have to react. How will your LS handle on thinner sidewalled S rated tires than the V or say H rated tires that the manufacturer intended it to be driven on? The answer is...we don't know. Knowing that the car is riding on what the manufacturer intended it to ride on is worth a few bucks to me...
  12. I'm sure the loaner did not...
  13. The later models have less and less in common with the Camry though. Even if the pads on the ES330 are interchangable I believe the Lexus pads have a softer compound to ensure smoother and quieter operation. For instance Lexus and Toyota wiper blades aren't the same composition. They will work obviously but the quality isn't the same.
  14. The Volvos have a great record for safety, but I just can never quite bring myself to "like" one. To me they're a little too sweedish-quirky. Kind of like rolling around in an Ikea store... Those 5 series wagons are nice...but RARE! A coworker of mine just bought an '07 X5 that I love! I haven't driven it but she's been driving us around on broker tour every Tuesday (I always used to drive) and something about it...it rides well but its sporty...it has TONS of room in the front and rear without being abhorently huge outside. The material quality inside is excellent. It has 22k miles on it and I think she paid $40k or so... I've considered whether I want one or not... She has owned BMWs for years, mainly 3 series convertibles. She's had no problems but only keeps them until 70k or so. I have another coworker who has am '03 530 that he hates because its such a money pit. I think the big difference between a Lexus and a BMW in terms of reliability comes after 100,000 miles.
  15. Sounds like a motor or transmission mount to me too...
  16. Personally I'd put the OEM pads back on it...
  17. Check out the detailing forum on here, plenty of info there. Zymol products in my experience are mediocre at best.
  18. All the facts I've seen support the idea that only tires of similar speed ratings as OEM should be used on the vehicle. Thats the viewpoint of Lexus, TireRack, and every tire manufacturer and retailer I have ever spoken to. In fact if you call Michelin and ask them if the Symmetry is an appropriate tire for the LS they would say no, and it does not come up on Michelin's tirematch database on their website as an appropriate tire for the vehicle. Why does Lexus shod the car with V rated tires at the factory if it doesn't matter?

Bluetooth became standard in 2004, at least on cars with nav, and you have to buy an iPod adapter to play an iPod in any Lexus.
  20. That Integrity tire is a POS, bordering on an unsafe tire for the LS. I would replace those tires now actually...they are awful.
  21. The layout, availability of apps, how the operating system runs (it lags and hangs while the iPhone OS is always smooth and stable).
  22. Yeah its optional coverage here in MD...we have it...
  23. The Symmetry though is not of a speed rating where I would feel comfortable putting them on the LS. The Symmetry only comes in an S speed rating, and the LS' suspension geometry is designed around tires with a V speed rating. The lowest I would go is an H.
