Looks like here last year! As for "global warming", global warming doesn't specifically mean that everywhere in the world is getting hotter and we won't have snow anywhere, etc. In fact a lot of studies show that warmer waters in the gulf, etc contribute to more frequent and stronger winter storms that bring MORE snow to areas like ours, and to areas that have never had significant snow before. Whether you like Al Gore or not, when you start doing your own research its really impossible to deny that the climate of the earth is changing, and that the pollutants we dump into the atmosphere contributes to that change.
  2. I mean...its really light. Does it get dirty? Yeah. With regular cleaning can I keep it clean? Yeah. What type of cleaning regimen are you doing?
  3. Northern Virginia and you really feel like the winter has been that bad? I haven't had any problems getting around. Did you live in the area last year? Chains are really for dire snow type emergencies. For instance it is illegal to run chains when you can see any roadbed surface on the road, because it tears up the road. The ES really isn't the type of vehicle that benefits from chains anyways. Its FWD, and the wheel well clearances are very slim as the above poster said... Chains are great in deep heavy snow or ice on a RWD car...but on the ES it wouldn't be worthwhile.
  4. It won't come out for Verizon immediately though. I bet that Verizon will always be 6 months behind AT&T in terms of having the latest iPhone...
  5. Just ordered my Verizon iPhone ;)

    My Vw Gti

Wouldn't be as fun if it hit the shop each of those times and cost you $1,000 each time ;)
  7. You would definately want to look at the transmission fluid also, look for dark or dirty fluid that smells burnt. Personally, I am not a fan of buying SUVs in 2WD, even in an area where AWD or 4WD isn't really needed. To me, the 4WD/AWD opens up a much larger subset of buyers for it when you pass it on. For instance...here you can't even sell a 2WD SUV...
  8. Quite an experience. Something I have always wanted to do is get an RV and drive all over the country. We came close to renting one and doing some traveling this summer, but doing so in a rental is a pricey proposition...let me tell you. Glad you had fun!
  9. The AWD RX300, 90-03. The 330 should be fine, and the FWD RX should be better than the AWD.
  10. Fords Sync works really well...so its possible!
  11. Honestly I would be really worried about buying one of these because of the transmission failure history...
  12. "Call Home" "Destination Taco Bell" "No...CALL HOME!" "Temperature 74 degrees" LOL
  13. If you look at the Prius, there are lots of Prius' on the road with several hundred thousand miles on them...so no reason not to expect excellent reliability...
  14. There are no such tricks...
  15. ;)
  16. I'd try a plastic polish like Novus, Plexus, or Meguiars PlastX...
  17. In our experience with the similar key in the Prius, I'd say 2 years life is pretty average. Symptoms include it being picky about unlocking when you put your hand on the door handle, failing to recognize the key when you go to start, etc.
  18. Looks very nice!
  19. Little things like that save big money from a production standpoint...
  20. Come on, thats neither a helpful or a constructive post. Being able to afford something isn't whats in question here, its what does the vehicle really require? If it makes you feel special to pay for premium fuel, makes you feel like you're rich or something...have at at.
  21. Its a great car. I love the LS, but honestly you could buy two ES' for what one LS costs...and this generation ES drives and rides a lot more like the LS than they used to. A lot of the little things are there in this generation, power tilt and telescopic wheel, automatic smog detection, backup camera, park distance control, panoramic roof. Its just like anything else, at the lower price point theres just not enough money left over for the little details like in the LS... But it didn't have a power tilt telescopic steering wheel, a real wood interior, vetillated seats, backup camera, etc...
  22. Yeah theres a big difference in used value between cars with and without the GPS...
  23. I mean...my Dad had a 98 with 160k on it when he traded it, with the air suspension with no trouble. His '04 that my Mom still has 95k or so on it...its an Ultra with the air suspension...no problems...
  24. You're talking about three $75,000 vehicles and a $60,000 vs a $40,000 vehicle. These are the things you notice when you go from the top of the line to the entry level model. The bad news is your homelink lights don't light up, the good news is you can buy an IS in addition to your ES for what your LS460L cost to ease your pain ;)
