I've read that article and disagree. I see a big difference in value on the used market in favor of the nav, meaning cars with nav sell for more. I absolutely understand the value of it, and Lexus offers real time traffic in their systems just not on the IS. I've used the system with no real time traffic for years though, I don't really see it as a neccesity. I've used the built in Lexus nav for many more years than you and I've used plenty of portable units. I would never spend one dollar on a portable unit, they hold absolutely no interest for me at all. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

As long as the offset and bolt pattern are the same I don't see why not.

There isn't much difference in the ride and drive of the LS430 as compared to the 98-00 LS400. The LS430 is larger, the interior is more posh. I never cared for the styling of the LS430 until the refresh in 04.

Well, you were abhorently breaking the law so the only person you should be mad at is yourself. Thats not a statement against speeding, its just a statement of fact. You have absolutely no defense whatsoever. Speed all you want, just don't be mad or indignant when you get a ticket. I don't think the judge can raise the fine although I don't know for sure. Unless you can think of some sort of defense or you have a spotless record I don't see a point in going to court.

I have the Toyota nav in two cars and have been using it for nearly 5 years. I'm 100% satisfied and would never purchase another car without built in nav. Sure aftermarket systems might have more functions, but I've never needed more functions and the sheer ugliness of aftermarket units in a brand new $40k car would keep me from ever considering it. I think the people who are complaining about the system are used to using portable and aftermarket systems. If you've never used one then you'll never miss any of the functionality. I extensively test drove the Infiniti M and FX. Infiniti absolutely locks out destination functions when moving and this is confirmed by posts on Infiniti forums Nav destination functions are absolutely 100% locked out when driving on all GM vehicles including Cadillacs, confirmed on GM forums Jeep also has the lockout as do all other Chrysler vehicles, confirmed on Chrysler forums Subaru also (Wikipedia for whatever thats worth) Just google it to find out, thats what I just did. It is absolutely not only Toyota.

This isn't true. High quality paint shops can and will electronically tint the paint shade so that it will match. That coupled with the fact that modern paints are much less prone to fading means with a quality shop the match should be perfect. $1,000 sounds about right, get some other quotes from well respected and reccomended shops. I'd pass on the dealership personally.

I know for a fact Infiniti blocks out their system, and Hyundai doesn't have a nav system. I believe I remember it being locked out in the Audis and Cadillacs I've driven too. It may be different in the UAE. The "I agree" button is gone in the '08s.

For question 1 there is no way to do it. You have to guess based on the highlighted section or just wing it. Its a pain I agree. For question 2 the turn list is only available after the system has locked into the route and has calculated the time remaining, and this only happens once you've started moving along the route, thats a pain too.

LOL. Yeah I think this is BS too, the 6 lug wheels on a 5 lug hub sealed it for me, ESPECIALLY when he claims to just be able to swap back to the OEM rims...

Yep, Blake beat me to it. This is single stage paint and its VERY easy to correct. Did he machine polish the car? if not you should have that done I bet you he can get it 90%. Its a beauty!

As I said to you in the PM, its not my fault you drove off with loose and missing lug nuts (totally stupid) so don't take it out on me If you could read you would see that I asked you if your ES had 6 lugs. Having a wheel with 6 lugs won't do much for you if you have a 5 lug hub. I simply asked you a question.

Are you saying your ES350 has a 6 lug hub? Because every ES350 I've seen uses a 5 lug hub.

I don't know about you Alan, but somehow I've been around automatic climate control systems in a myriad of cars for 17 years, somehow they've always just run on auto and everythings been fine. Being "ABSOLUTELY NOT ADVISABLE!" or not lol.

I get about 17 in the city. Do you know if the spark plugs have ever been replaced and if the 90k maintenance was done? At 170k its coming up on needing it again anyways.

They don't make many of the Glacier Frost Mica cars. The reason for that is the focus groups and early feedback showed the color was not widely marketable. It doesn't have anything to do with the salesman.

Well that certainly wasn't the case for any of the car dealerships I consulted with a few years ago. All I did was design and implement systems for dealers to retain service business from sales customers because the profit potential for service customers was higher than sales customers. For some reason they paid me to do that...a lot.
