  1. Remember when the Lexus LS 600h was on the way, and there was head-scratching aplenty about the $100K+ price and the delay? At the time, Lexus said it only planned to sell 2,000 of the hybrid cruisers per year, and that they already had orders for 1,650 of them. Then the car came out, and in spite of being treated rather unkindly by the motoring press and boasting a less-than-stellar MPG improvement, it has sold 6,093 worldwide through October. The car only went on sale in July. Read on: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/04/lexus-e...undred-percent/
  2. No.
  3. Any more updates?
  4. I think its a situation of people used to german seats sitting in Japanese seats. They are different. How long have you had the car? I'd give it a little time.
  5. Rob, Is the sensitivity turned all the way up? How long have you had the car. When I bought mine I HATED the auto wipers. However, over the years I've come to really like them.
  6. Send "Steve" a PM, only he can do it.
  7. No, I never drive with a jacket or coat on. The only time I do is if I'm wearing a suit and an overcoat. The air is cooler than the footwell, but its not cold. Its room temperature.
  8. Tell us what the Toyota dealer estimates. In my experience its not much less. When I had my 90k done it was $1200 at Lexus, like $990 at Toyota. The extra $210 was more than worth it to have my guy take care of it, be assured the right parts and techs are used, and get the loaner for the day.
  9. Lexus brake pads are pretty soft, the benefits to soft pads are they're quiet and smooth, the negative is they don't last as long as harder pads. Although I'm surprised your rear pads would go before the fronts. Easily fixed by using harder aftermarket pads. As for tires, Lexus doesn't make tires and you have the same tradeoff. Generally tires with softer rubber compounds are quieter and smoother but they are shorter lived. Again easily fixed, replace the tires with tires that have longer treadwear when they wear out. Replacing the car wouldn't make sense. These are wear items and them wearing out has nothing to do with the car itself.
  10. Over-spinning is not good for the transmission. However, I've found sometimes in order to get moving you need to turn the trac off and let the wheels spin a little, this is fine.
  11. I mean it switches to air that is normal temperature, niether hot nor cold.
  12. It switches to circulated air if the temp has reached its setpoint. No c-best settings have been changed. As I said before I leave it on "AUTO" and "A/C", I don't switch it to anything it all.
  13. Mine stays on "A/C" and "AUTO" all the time regardless of the circumstances and I stay toasty warm.
  14. The problem isn't speeding. The speed limit is not some magic number at which everyone will be safe on the roadway. In all honesty, they're mostly set low to obtain revenue and you won't find a lot of roads (around here) where the flow of traffic is the speed limit. The key is that you have to be travelling at a safe speed for the roadway you are on. You need to be doing the flow of traffic. Whizzing by people at 25MPH more than they're doing is not the flow of traffic, whether you're in the left lane or not. If a highway has a posted speed of 50 its not even an interstate, 89 MPH on a roadway like that is simply too fast. The majority of American roads are not graded and designed for you to be travelling at speeds like that, ESPECIALLY in a top-heavy SUV/crossover vehicle. The added problem is the attitude of this particular driver. He is the proof that the current method of enforcing traffic laws is worthless. He gets a ticket on one stretch of road right, the cop cuts him a break. He gets another ticket on the SAME stretch of road going the SAME amount over the limit a week later. Has the enforcement done anything but make the municipality money? Absolutely not. The current system must be reworked. The only thing that is going to teach people like him is loss of license and jail time. I absolutely believe if you catch someone breaking the posted speed limit by 35 MPH or more (while speed limits may be low, I've yet to find a road where 35 over is a safe speed) they should recieve a SERIOUS fine ($10,000+) spend 30 days in jail, and loose their license for 6 months. Driving is a serious thing. You are more likely to die in a car than doing almost anything else you do every day, its time the law starts taking how people behave behind the wheel seriously. Now this guy...I mean I don't know what to say about somebody so stupid they would tailgate what they actively recognized as a cop at 30 MPH over the posted limit and then be surprised when they get pulled over. Thats probably worthy of steralization...
  15. BWAHAHAHA Hell, I'd have let him him pee before I put him in my squad car lol. "Is it illegal to cut grass?!?!?" hahahaha
  16. If you really are doing this and you really are 47 and have a family as you profess to I think maybe you should talk to your wife (who is, supposedly, a lawyer) about the ways driving this way with this disregard for anybody but yourself can destroy you and your families lives even if you should survive an accident. If you should injure me or a member of my family driving this way I can promise you, I would not rest until everything you own and every dollar you have is mine. You'd wish you were dead, and I don't think I'd be alone in that response. Run a google search on "personal fable". Its a psychological belief that is commonly held by adolescents and grown out of by adulthood that explains much of the risk-taking behavior you typically see in teens. Its a belief that you are special, and that none of the bad things that can happen in life will happen to you and that your behavior has no consequences for you or for anyone else. This is textbook. So either LexKid has never grown out of his personal fable (in which case he should consult a psychologist) or he's not really 47 with a family and a revolving door of Lexus vehicles the pictures of which we've never seen (other than the old RX). Which do you think is most likely? Discuss amognst yourselves...
  17. How can there be any agreeing to disagree? You're saying that you think its your right to commit a criminal act and enganger others because you need to get somewhere faster? You think you somehow are so important that the laws should not apply to you? How can you not see the arrogance, selfishness, and self importance of that belief? Do you honestly not get it? If you feel that way, you belong unlicensed in jail.
  18. Ah, well welcome to both of you. I think I already welcomed galaxee in another thread, guess I forgot the screen name lol
  19. Then start another thread, but don't start a thread asking people to post at the end of an already existing thread. Thats a waste of space and bandwidth.
  20. Good luck to you too!
  21. So you feel that its your right to break the law by a level which in many states would be grounds for imprisonment and endanger the lives of others because you need to get somewhere faster?
  22. Unfortunately I bet this noise comes from the direct injection system. If thats the case theres not much you can do. Are you running synthetic oil?
  23. kingjack, banned for 2 weeks. I warned you not to make personal insults towards our members. Veiling insults inside compliments doesn't change the fact that they are insults. For the record you having an opinion is fine, being unwilling to accept anybody else's opinion and cutting others down for debating your opinion isn't going to be tolerated. You got nothing but respectful disagreement from the people on this thread, and you've responded with malice and insults. powerwave, you're Galaxee's husband from the PriusChat board aren't you? Welcome to the LOC! See I knew the LS had that key, I didnt realize the ES did so I stand corrected. We still do not know however when the fuse blew and he's too hysterical to rationally communicate to us when this happened. He said "BOOM the door locks didnt work" so I would assume that "BOOM" indicates something along the lines of a fuse blowing. I will concede that its possible the dealer screwed it up and treated him badly. I've been treated badly by dealers. Its usually a two way street though, and with him coming in here ranting the way he did and the way he set himself up to be let down by the dealer I would assume there's another side to this story.
  24. So let me get this straight. Its okay for you to drive 30-50MPH over the speed limit because you need to get where you have to go, faster? This logic works for you?
