  1. Let me put it this way. There's a reason why its rare. Lexus figures out real quick in a model run what colors people like and what they don't, and all but can the colors that get the snub from consumers. Glacier Frost is one of those colors, as is Moon Shell Mica on the ES350 (Mary Kay lol). There was a color called starlight pearl on the 02 ES that was like a weird powder blue. I've probably seen two of them ever. Thats not to say those who like GFM are weird, taste is very individual but the reason the color is rare is that it doesn't appeal to a wide variety of consumers therefore Lexus produces very few of them.
  2. Well I've had the first wear related failure on the ES. I've had some big things done under warranty due to TSBs but the dealer found the rear main seal was leaking and needed to be replaced. $1,900. Luckily I have the extended warranty! Turned out to be a good purchase there lol. At least it got some use, its only got 4k miles to go until it expires. Oh well, my first wear related failure didn't occur until ~95k miles. Not too shabby,
  3. The starter is common. Its only going to get worse and its expensive to do.
  4. Oh the LS is a spectacular car. I'm like you, the LS is the Lexus I've always wanted. However, I honestly don't think theres enough of a difference in how they drive when you arent constantly swapping back and forth to warrant taking bath on the ES.
  5. Yep, its an IS250. Not sure if its AWD or not, I'll check tomorrow. At low speeds its heavy, but at speed it really makes the car feel more solid. I really like the IS, I'd get one as a second car.
  6. Personally? I'd skip the air suspension. The LS rides so well as it is, no need to add anything on especially components that will require replacement at some point. The rest of the toys are really in the back seat, and if you don't sit back there who cares...
  7. Yeah, you don't want to buy them from the dealer LOL. Actually Lexus-Parts.com is run by a guy named Darrell Diller who is the parts manager at Sewell Lexus in Texas. His prices show you how much of a markup there is on Lexus parts at the dealer. Keep in mind they're still making a profit on the site, some of the markups are like 300%. The part numbers are really confusing. I'd trust Lexus-Parts only because I trust Darrell and I have experience with them in the past.
  8. I have an 08 as a loaner and immediately noticed how much stiffer the steering is over the 07s I've driven.
  9. Yep, I drilled some holes in his boat first too lol. I'm glad Blake removed GDixon's post, talk about a spoil sport. Guess he was never a kid. Or maybe he got beat up a lot. Well hell, at least he recognizes poor grammar lol.
  10. LOL, its a shame we don't have funny commercials like this in the US...
  11. Thats not normal then. Mine takes maybe 2-3 seconds.
  12. Man I'm sorry I missed this. Good people don't do things like that Lex, I'm really surprised at you.
  13. So no courtyard time then? Thats a shame.
  14. The problem is Libertarians take it to the extreme. I agree with some of what they speak, but not all. Jasper, do they let you guys out into a courtyard at some point during the day or do you spend most of your time in the padded room?
  15. The intermittant wipers cannot work without the rain sensor. Where did you buy the car, a Lexus dealer?
  16. Is this your first Lexus, and how long is long? I ask because I've found Lexus vehicles crank longer than other manufacturers.
  17. Good point about the tool not being free, but I think this should be a freebie feel good item, my dealer does it for free but all dealers are different. They also do stuff for me for free that they don't do for other people because I'm such a good customer.
  18. It completely depends on where you get them. Check out www.lexus-parts.com Welcome to the club!
  19. I agree with sheepsan except for a few things. 1. The LS is significantly larger inside than the ES, especially in the back seat 2. In my experience the ES is no more fuel efficient than the LS. I still wouldn't do it, you're loosing $10k in value on your ES and at $37k the LS isn't a screaming deal. Yes the LS is a better car, but this would have only been a viable comparison had you not hyet bought the ES.
  20. I agree with you it is very frustrating. Unfortunately free expression is important, so as long as people aren't breaking the rules then we have to let them express their viewpoints even if we don't agree with them. We do get rid of the sort of people that do nothing but complain and do it in a way that is rude and disrespectful to others. It'll change as the model gets older. It was the same way when the 02-06 ES first came out and it settled down. All I can say is stick around and post positive stuff! We'd love it.
  21. Oh much more. New car sales make very little profit for a dealer, they drive service business.
  22. Its simply a mode in the transmission. If you look down on the console there is a button that says "ECT PWR SNOW".
  23. TOG's a member at Autopia too...has been for a long time.
  24. Thats about what a 5k service costs. It all depends on your situation and your priorities. I have no problem paying the dealer for service and getting a nice loaner car, I enjoy the experience. If it doesn't matter to you don't do it, you don't have to have it serviced at the dealer just like you don't have to shop at Nordstrom.
