  1. Just the steering wheel will cost $2500+ from the dealer. The best way to do this is to find one off of a totalled ES that matches your interior color and wood finish and use that. Its not really a DIY job unless you have the proper tools and the know-how. Here's the wheel: http://www.lexuspartsonline.com/index2.htm...amp;catalogid=0 Its $1500 wholesale, expect a significant markup from the dealer. Here's one on eBay for a 2006: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus-ES330...sspagenameZWDVW Wheels from an '05 or '06 will work.
  2. Thats a tough size... Try these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...yes&place=7 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...yes&place=4
  3. Are you sure you're holding the button down long enough?
  4. The Aquapel will work much better after you've clayed. The wax won't remove the residue, you need clay.
  5. LOL, you're a mean man Jim ;)
  6. The car is 17 years old. It is getting close to extremely old. In MD you can apply for historic tags when it hits 20 and the state won't expect you to submit to emissions testing anymore. THATS how old it is. You have to be reasonable. In 17 years plastics decay, UV rays change the chemical compositon of plastic. LCD displays have a lifespan. The seats weren't great and thats been exacerbated by age. These things have been fixed...in later models. You can't expect Lexus to remedy issues in a car that old. Had you come to them when it was 3 or 4 years old that would have been one thing, but the car is 17 years old. Nothings perfect and cars are continually improved. If you want the improvements you've got to pony up for a newer model. Thats life. Its amazing the car still runs and retains any semblance of the driving experience it did when it was new at that age. Those cars are built extremely, extremely well.
  7. Not a big deal, you just have to remember not to make debates or disagreements personal. Several of the very most respected LOC members were in purgatory when they were new, even a couple times. No hard feeling on our end.
  8. Banned ;)
  9. Its Autopia.org The issue is that the car is covered in a material called cosmoline to resist corrosion when its on the boat. This is removed at the port. You've got residue on the glass. Go to the store and by some detailers clay and some quick detailer to use as lube. Clay the windshield, once you do that you'll have no problem.
  10. Hey guys, As I mentioned earlier one of the little wing lights in my headlamp clusters is out and I'm going to have to remove the clusters to replace it. Any idea how to best do that in light of the auto leveling headlamps?
  11. Absolutely, look into hardwired Bluetooth car kits. Motorola makes one, Parrot makes some very nice ones. They install just like an old car phone set. I just use an earpeice, its okay.
  12. I love my dealership...
  13. Unfortunately you may have no choice. Reception cutting in and out is loss of signal.
  14. I called my guy at the dealer and he says its okay to just leave it and let it burn off. No flames today but we'll see lol
  15. First of all, is the dealer telling you that plugs need to be done? On an 03 the plugs should be done at 90k, or even 120k depending on some sources, I did mine at 90k. The 50k service is a 20k mile service which isn't major.
  16. Ditto, I'm glad you haven't had any further problems.
  17. Swirling is caused by poor materials and/or poor technique, 100% of the time. If you wash properly it is absolutely possible to have a black or other dark colored car that is 90% swirl free all the time. Somewhere in your wash is something thats swirling the paint. Check into the detailing forum, plenty of info there about proper washing techniques and products.
  18. Okay, I lit it and it burns pretty good and sparks and sizzles while it burns. The fire won't go out until all the plastic is consumed and its even a little hard to douce with water...
  19. And its safer, the airbags themselves can be dangerous and cause injury. Why have them deploy when they won't be of any help?
  20. We tore a whole bunch of it off, thats a good idea. We'll try lighting it tonight. The CAT is fairly new, it was replaced under warranty a couple years ago. The oven cleaner is a really good idea too, we'll check that out too. Thanks guys! -Steve
  21. Sure you'll get better mileage when you're driving it on a trip. I drove it out to Ashburn yesterday 35 miles round trip and got 45MPG at 75. The issue is her extremely short commute (2 miles). The car never warms up and never gets into the operating range where it runs efficiently. If the car is cold, the gas motor will never kick off, no matter how carefully you drive it.
  22. I think you're a little confused. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. The Lexus windshield you're being quoted $1400 for is OEM. The aftermarket one you've been quoted $450 for is not.
  23. Try moving the antenna outside the car. I have mine on the parcel shelf but I'm in an area with a lot of repeaters. Is it the Lexus system?
