  1. Yours is the V8 right? It is incredible the mileage these big V8 sedans will get on the highway isn't it? My parents have an Infiniti FX35 and then the 04 LS430. My Dad always drove the LS until he retired last year and now he drives the FX most of the time since he's playing golf and going to the boat etc. They still take the LS on trips though because its just so much better on gas. They get in the low 30s on a highway trip too. My V6 ES300 for comparison will get 26 on the highway tops.
  2. I used the joystick at the car show, and it works very well, you absolutely can use it while driving.
  3. Yeah, please explain...
  4. I absolutely would not. If you treat the dealership fairly, and be reasonable about what you expect them to cover under warranty...they will treat you like family when they're servicing your car too. They have always treated me like family, but then again I don't try and rip them off the way you did here. Here is what you have to understand, certain things on the vehicle are covered under warranty, certain things are not. If you hit a pothole and ruin a tire...thats not covered. Thats your fault. You could actually submit an insurance claim for that if you wanted to. The dealer LIKES doing warranty work...Lexus pays them to do it. They can get a lot accomplished for you when they want to, like they did here. They got Lexus to pay for a tire replacement when Lexus doesn't even manufacture or warranty tires. Even the tire company doesn't warranty OEM tires. They did that to take good care of you because they value your business...and you lied to them to get them to do it. People say dealerships are crooked... Getting good and fair service is a two way street, you have to treat the dealership and Lexus fairly too.
  5. I feel the same thing on my ES and its FWD. I think its more what Bartkat was describing.
  6. It is not at all acceptable that a Lexus has rattles. I've had direct experience with several Lexus models over significant mileages and none of them have ever developed serious rattles. My dad's previous 98 LS had 170k on it...not one rattle. My ES has over 120k, there were a couple little rattles that they had TSBs for (a peice of trim on the rear door and the windshield cowl) that were fixed when they started rattling and it remains rattle free. My dad's 04 LS430 has 80k miles or so and it is also completely rattle-free. If they used to be able to build these cars rattle free...they can still build them rattle free. They haven't gotten any quieter inside, they've simply reduced the quality level of their construction and thats not acceptable to me as a long time Lexus owner. Oh God, ours is AWFUL. The entire dashboard buzzes and rattles at speed, the rearview mirror rattles. Its so bad driving down the highway we push on the dash in various places and we can actually stop the rattling but it comes back as soon as you let go. Only 44k miles. I cannot stand driving the thing... If you read around on PriusChat, lots of people talk about rattles.
  7. For best highway mileage. IMHo thats too high a PSI for the LS, I think the factory spec is 29, I'd inflate them to 30... How many miles on your LS?
  8. That should fix it! No problem, happy to help.
  9. Prestigious society override = no more whining. Steve thinks its an excellent product...
  10. Thats about as true as saying the LS is a hopped up Camry...
  11. Yep, absolutely worthless.
  12. We'll be watching...
  13. They're okay...not great
  14. People have been trying to do this forever, good luck!
  15. How many miles and what is your credit score?
  16. Not true, as Tex said the corporate policy is a loaner must be given for WARRANTY work that will take 8 hours or more. Most dealers offer loaners much more liberally. And remember, the OP's dealer wasn't saying they wouldn't give him a loaner, they're saying they won't pick up and drop the vehicle off anymore. I'm sure Tex is the same as me, someone who has been around these cars for a long time and around these forums for a long time...you pick a lot of stuff up.
  17. When you first posted about this issue you said you didn't know what it came from and we were sympathetic, now you're saying you knew the gas was there and that it was there for 4 days. Then you said 2 days....what is the real story? Absolutely not Lexus' fault, and any paint on any car will stain if a gas stain is left on it for 4 days. Thats part of having a light colored car, you're just going to have to be more careful and any gas spillage should be cleaned off quickly. Don't just wipe it off with a paper towel, it needs to be WASHED off. Gas is abrasive and corrosive. Somehow I've been filling up cars with gas for 15 years and I can do it without spilling a drop on the finish of the vehicle. You just have to shake the nozzle off while its still in the filler neck and move it quickly away from the car. They sell plastic bibs you can buy and put in there that roll out when you're filling up to protect it if you want. Its not something that "always happens" like you say. Its a mistake you made and it damaged your car, its your responsibility to fix it, not Lexus'. Take it to a detailer, a chemical cleaner might remove it. A body shop, to fix that right by repainting would be $1000 or so least because of where it is, they have to blend into the rear passenger door and up over the roof rail. If the detailer can't remove it, I'd just leave it...
  18. Yeah I paid Lexus $1100 for my 90k...
  19. Yeah...I'm going to be that guy... You probably should have bought a BMW ;)
  20. And guess what Lexus roadside assistance does when you call for assistance? They call AAA for you. I've had them come change tires a couple times over the years...they always send AAA. When my car left the 4 year roadside program they called me to tell me the great news, they were going to offer me the opportunity of extending my Lexus roadside for the low-low cost of like $300 a year. I said thanks but no thanks and joined AAA.
  21. Thats such a shame...mine has 120k miles and its rattle and squeak free.... Our '04 Prius rattles more than any car I've ever had, its almost unbearable to drive on the highway (most of the vibrations and buzzes happen at highway speeds)
  22. If it was base it was $21k and change. Still a lot more than a Civic comparably equipped. Yeah I don't get that either. I think the overall shape of the car is supposed to be the most aerodynamic it can be...and honestly I think they just want it to look different (i.e. weird). The windshield is so big and far away they have to have big A pillars, and the little window breaks up the look of the big A pillars. Have you seen the new 2010 Prius hitting the car shows? It looks much better. I rarely drive it either...
  23. Cold weather is very unfriendly to the Prius. Ours gets high 20s MPG in the winter because my wife drives such short trips it never warms up. You can do things to make it better, engine block heaters, some people block the grill in the front to keep the engine warmer and that helps. Me? I just want a car that turns on and drives the best way it should regardless of the weather LOL. Your Prius was more than $20k. Totally base the Prius is 21k, fully loaded they're more like $28-29k. Ours was $27k fully loaded, they added a package above ours with leather in 06 though, and they added a touring package above that. Does your Prius have navigation, smart key, etc? Its not an economy car, its a midmarket car like a Camry. It has some wierd blind spots but they're not that bad, you get used to them.
  24. Happens to all of us from time to time Even me! ;)
  25. I would have called the police. The police would have been irritated, but they would have made the driver give you his insurance info. I bet as soon as you said "Okay" and pulled out your cell phone to dial he'd have changed his tune. I had a woman rear end me one time and then had the gaul to say that my car was beat up and that she didn't see any damage when I asked for her insurance information. Well, those of you who know me know my cars aren't beat up...they're always in like-new condition. What did I do? I whipped out my cell phone, took a quick picture of her bumper up against mine and told her she could give me her insurance information or I could call the police, her choice. She very quickly gave me her insurance info. I buffed the little scracth out and pocketed her $500. Had she not been a !Removed! I wouldn't have done that. You can ALWAYS call the police, thats what you pay them for. I would have not hesitated to call the police. The good news is it can be repaired very easily, find a good paintless dent repair shop in your area. $90 and it'll be all fixed.
