  1. Maybe so, hopefully it was!
  2. Its not trouble, its just how the electronic throttle operates. Nothing can be done to fix it...
  3. Keyed? They'd blow you up! LOL
  4. I disagree, in part. If you are washing carefully you can keep them to the point where the paint never really needs to be polished out.
  5. I use it weekly, so I'm not real concerned with longevity... I just don't want to apply RainX all the time, if its in a window cleaner I regularly use though...
  6. How about "AIGBONUS" ;)
  7. I use Griots leather scent (a spray), I don't think it smells like a new car, but it smells clean. People get in my car all the time and say "Wow, this still smells new" or "Is it new" or "How do you keep it smelling new?". Did you try that one?
  8. Been back to Nelson several times in the Lexus and with the Prius and he's great. Have to take the Prius this week actually for the 40k service.
  9. No, I dont think so.
  10. You guys can believe that if you want, but Lexus USA does not have a whole lot of control over their dealerships, no carmaker does because of the strong antitrust laws in the US. They can control things like Elite of Lexus status and the interest rates for holding stock, but ultimately the dealers are all independent. Elite of Lexus status isn't all that important... Lexus USA is probably picking up that 50% of the tab for your repair and paying LOW for the work to keep you happy. Which is great, don't get me wrong but don't infer that there is control there when there isn't. I spent several years consulting with car dealerships and developing customer retention systems for them, I know how the relationships work.
  11. Yeah I'd bet thats rail damage too...
  12. Its normal. The body features flare out right here making them suscepitble to wear and chipping. If Lexus put it there, there was a reason. Ever seen the MB CLS? It has a big clear plastic shield on the rear doors.
  13. Is yours an LS460L Phil? The LS460 AWD is nowhere near $85,000, the price the OP quoted at $72k is about right. They don't even sell a SWB LS AWD that costs $85k...
  14. I'll say it again, Lexus is never going to do away with the nav lockout, nor are any of the other companies that have them. You can use the voice commands or install a Prestigious Society upgrade. Those are your only options. Is the trunk lighting LED on the 460? I don't care for the new LED interior lighting... Really? The glove box lighting works all the time on my ol' ES. Lexus vehicles have never had underhood lights...no idea why. Not a lot of LS460 owners take their own wheels off. I never would. I don't know why these come and go. The 05=06 ES330 had this also...then the ES350 does not. No vehicle manufacturer's rearview mirror is linked to the memory system. It would have to be power operated which would make it overly large and heavy to hang on the windshield. With an adjustable seat and wheel, adjustable pedals are superfluous. The ES300/330 had a power pedal system that was removed when they came out with the ES350 because it has the power tilt/telescoping wheel. I personally don't want "features" for the sake of having features. I want features that work. If you want to hold your breath go ahead, I'm not going to. I think you over-emphasise the number of people that seem to find it an issue like you do. No car is perfect, and if you expect a car to be perfect and have EVERY feature you possibly could want and still not cost $100,000 you're setting yourself up to be dissapointed. The LS460 is a great car that is extremely well built. If you look past your very minor (and some really silly IMHO like power pedals and a memory rearview mirror) issues your LS460 will be a friend that will actually get better with age unlike most cars. OR you can pay $25,000 more for an S550 and still not have a lot of the features you mention and have a car that is going to need a lot more maintenance and repair throughout its life. I'd rather buy an LS460 and another little car to zip around in for fun than buy one S550.
  15. If you understand how compound works it will help you a lot. Compounds are abrasive, and they work when being worked into the paint surface to remove scratches and such. They don't do anything when they sit on the paint. So applying them to the leather and letting them sit shouldn't hurt the seats really. I would go get a very soft toothbrush and a good leather cleaner, Lexol works well. Get a nice microfiber sponge and wet it with the Lexol (I use a bucket of warm water to rinse the sponge) and wipe down the seats using the toothbrush to clean out the creases. Then wipe the seats down well. I have a feeling that will clean out your seams and restore the matte finish to the leather. The poster was correct really when they said conditioner wasn't really needed, automotive leather is coated so not much can really be absorbed anyways.
  16. This sounds like the typical throttle by wire acceleration lag that exists in these cars and others with early-run electronic throttles. The issue is when taking your foot off the gas and then accelerating without coming to a stop, such as you would in traffic. Is that what you are describing? I found that driving it in ECT PWR mode helps.
  17. I know I'm Gold Member #1 ;) Ah...I'm 564.
  18. When my car was new I really disliked them, however over the years I've gotten used to them and now I really miss them when I drive cars with normal intermittant wipers. Yeah they go haywire every once and a while, but for the most part I like how they work. One way to avoid them coming on when there is no rain (happens to me every once and a while too) is to leave them off and switch them to "AUTO" when its raining, and just let them select the speed.
  19. I like it! The current E never really did it for me, not sure why. This though I would buy. I wish it had a slightly more flowing interior design though, I don't care for the sharp angular look like the new C class.
  20. The swirls and scratches will need to be machine polished out. The car can be brought back to perfect condition, don't worry about it. You can do it yourself but its going to require investment in tools and equipment, or you can pay a professional to do it. Make sure to get references, there are more bad detailers out there than good ones.
  21. Cool...I'll have to give it a try...
  22. I don't think it will even rev in neutral...
  23. Whether lying and stealing is okay or not isn't a question of opinion, its a question of integrity abd whether one has it or not...
  24. I saw it in person at the DC show, very sharp looking...
  25. My guess is he wears Victoria's Secret g-strings... ;)
