  1. I spoke to one of the service techs at the local lexus dealership. According to the dealership, the rattling noise from the dash is a common problem in the newer (2007 on) ES, IS and GS models, for those vehicles that are driven in the northeast area of the US (example: PA up to Maine) because of the infrequent climate changes we experience. In NJ, one day it will be sunny and 50 degrees in Feb and the next day it will be 28 degrees. Apparently, the majority of the complaints for this problem are in the northeast area of the US; not to say that it doesnt or cant exist elsewhere, but there are no mentions of this problem on the West coast, due to the nicer climate conditions. To make a long story short, for the 2007 ES350, Lexus used a different dash than in the ES300 and 330 models. Through troubleshooting, some Lexus Techs (from the northeast area of the US) discovered that the plastic clips (I think there are maybe 5 or 6) that are under the dash, contract when the weather is cold, then warm, then cold etc. The fix is to remove the dash, put felt on those clips, thereby creating somewhat of an insulator when the clips contract. The success rate of the felt on the plastic clips is around 90% in regards to reducing the rattling noises from the dash. Hope this helped.
  2. Tks for the info. Did you ever use photoblocker on your license plate? Hey TeamO, look at this link in this forum: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=45222 It is all you would ever want to know about wax and cleaning, etc. I have a black ES 08 and I started this and hopefully it will help you. If you don't want to read it all...I recommend a sealant Ultima Paint Guard Plus over the carnuba wax but I have both. The wax I like is the P21S100% (or something like that...check the link). Good luck and hope the thread/topic I started helps you like it helped me. Warning though, I have spent hundreds of dollars!!!! You also can check people's pics of what it looks like. The Ultima Paint Guard Plus is soooo cool! It goes on in 15 minutes (the entire car) and no buffing away white dust. It just drys into a mirror finish.....you can get it on www.autopia.com (it may be autopia car care but google it and it will get you there...plus it is in the thread I linked you to above in this repyl). Good luck!!!!
  3. Can anyone recommend a quality carnuba wax to use on a black 2007 ES350? I would prefer a paste over a liquid (just because I'm old school), but I'll use a liquid wax if it will work great. I have a detailer do a three step process (light compound, polish, then carnuba, and sometimes use a clay bar if needed) once or twice a year, but I'm looking for a great carnuba wax in between details. Also, if anyone knows of a wax (or maybe polish) that dimishes or removes swirl marks from black cars, please let me know. (I have a few minor swirl marks on the hood of the car, but they can only be seen in direct sunlight). Thanks. (As crazy as I may sound, I would pay $50 for a wax if I knew it would work well and is durable, considering my car is black). My car takes the beating of all weather elements and I do not have the luxury to keep it in a garage, ugh. Rock salt is the worst :(
  4. I was wondering if the 2005 LS430 with the ML navi can play a DVD? I know that newer models ML navis will allow you to play and watch a DVD (factory setting is allowing this feature in park with e brake on), but I wasnt sure if my 2005 model will allow this? If so, do I insert the DVD thru the CD changer or thru the navi cd-rom in the trunk? Please advise. Thanks.
  5. In cold temps (and even 50 degress Fah and colder), I hear rattling noises from my dash. It has to be the plastic clips compressing (due to the cold temps), therefore creating space for the clips to hit against other pieces from under the dash. Should I get the clips insulated with felt, etc, or have the dealership remove the plastic clips? Also, either way, I think this would classify as a warranty issue? Any other recommendation would be helpful. Thanks.
