  1. Interesting, I'm 6' and about 190lbs too and the headrests don't bother me...chock it up to different frame types I guess... The headrests definately come out, do a search on here for headrest removal, look in both the LS forums a description of how to do it is on here somewhere. I don't know if you'll be able to bend that steel though...have you tried adjusting the headrests a little higher? The reason they sit forward is for neck protection in a rearend crash. I can tell in Volvos too, but haven't noted it in any of the new Lexus vehicles I've driven...
  2. Actually I would say 20MPG is a little low...
  3. There are kits you can buy that will bypass the speed sensor so you can enter destinations, the '10 RX's system is so new I don't know if they will work. Theres no other way to bypass it though and its been discussed ad nauseum on the site. Unfortunately its just a byproduct of our litigation happy culture, most carmakers lockout nav functions when driving now... I think you should give this feature a chance to get used to it, IMHO its one of the best features of the car. When you push the lock button the doors lock and the "beep" sounds, you have all the confirmation of locking you do with the key, plus you can still use the key if you like to lock the doors even with the system functional. Over time you'll really appreciate not having to dig around for your keys... You'd have to install a remote start. With that said...you absolutely should not be warming the car up in the garage even with the door open unless its a detached garage. Thats a huge carbon monoxide risk...
  4. Are you sure the wiring harness is connected?
  5. What's his screen name? SKPerformance??? His Screen name is "Steve", thats why I put in in parentheses ;)
  6. Yeah we haven't seen him in a long long time...no idea why.
  7. Yep...everything at Lexus is expensive. Think about it, they bill at $100 an hour, so how long does it take to do an oil change plus the cost of the oil and the filter? Gets to $100 pretty quick.
  8. Actually this seriously reduces your reaction time when applying brake from gas whether you think it does or not. Ask any professional driving instructor...
  9. Aren't there aftermarket strut bars out there? I bet they would be cheaper than the OEM one...
  10. Me, stubborn? Nah ;) The Silverado is definately #2 to the F150, the F150 has been #1 for a long, long time.
  11. Send admin Steve (we have too many Steves lol, PM "Steve") a PM amnd he will be able to do it...
  12. "I second the advice" means I agree with it... if I disagreed then I would have given you my opinion...
  13. As I said on the Autopia forum, awesome work!
  14. 23,000 is way too much for an '03. We have a member that just bought an 04 UL with 26k miles for $21k... Honestly? I'd probably keep looking...
  15. The fog he is talking about it condensation inside the headlamp lens... I second the advice you got in the ES forum, you have to seal up all the seams in the headlight...
  16. I have heard people describe problems after transmission flushes and my mechanic who was a Lexus tech for 12 years says to never flush a transmission, just change the fluid. The only shops you will find that will have some sort of "Lexus certification" are shops like the one I use that is owned by someone who used to be a Lexus master tech and keeps his certifications up. You always want an ASE certified shop, and I would find somebody that has experience with Japenese cars specifically Toyotas or Lexuses.
  17. Have you tried adjusting the seat and holding the "M" button down to see if it saves? Have you checked the manual?
  18. Wow, an April Fools birthday! Happy Birthday!
  19. LOL...good one.
  20. I wouldn't buy the CPO warranty, the CPO warranty is non-transferable. Buy the Lexus Platinum extended warranty. Cheaper, the same, and is transferable if you sell the car. I bought the extended warranty and it paid for itself and then some and I paid retail for it. If you can buy it for $900 or something like I've seen online...I'd consider it a no brainer.
  21. They don't come with bulbs, the bulbs are attached to the wiring harness and will plug into the new assembly. Have you priced the assembly? Its almost $400 wholesale...
  22. Link 1: We're not talking about the Windstar minivan or the Taurus...also the last time that transmission was used according to that article was 9 years ago. Link 2: What does a TSB for a torque converter shudder in Mustangs, Crown Victorias, Thunderbirds (which they don't even make anymore), Cougars (don't make those either) and Town Cars from 1992-1997 have to do with a F series truck? Again, we've posted dozens of TSBs for Lexus products on this board that are more serious than this. A TSB is a manufacturer telling the dealer how to fix an issue, they're a good thing. Again, we're not talking about Ford 15 years ago, some of us buy and drive vehicles that are not so old they can get driver's licenses themselves. Link 3: Again, we're not talking about the Ford Explorer. Link 4: Again, we're not talking about Ford from 8 years ago. You're talking about all these experience yet you refuse to tell me about all the stories you have from your advanced experience in the auto repair industry (it really shows) where you have seen Ford F series trucks, that aren't old enough to have drivers licenses themselves, with failed transmissions. Share with us. Google Lexus RX300 and transmission failure. Look, nobody is saying that Ford hasn't had quality problems, of course they have. What I'm saying though is that owning a Ford doesn't mean its going to explode in your face. I've owned Fords...haven't exploded in my face. Would I rather own a Toyota or Lexus? Sure. However, Ford has made great strides in the last couple years...
  23. Somebody might want to send Darell at Sewell an email and let him know the site is not viewable on the Safari browser. I can't believe he would know that and leave it that way... I guess since I suggested it...I'll do that...
