  1. LOL! :D
  2. That may be what some dealer says...but I don't buy it. Plenty of SUVs on the road with HID lights.
  3. Yeah I'd rather that than another light on the dash...
  4. I agree 100%. I don't think you're nuts at all...
  5. Pigs might learn to fly too. My point was just because some manufacturers allow it doesn't mean that all manufacturers are willing to take the risk...or that its a good idea. Most manufacturers lock out nav functions when moving. All kidding aside...its just not going to change. I've been around this company for a long time and I know how they do business. You will never see a Toyota nav system with unlocked controls when moving. One day the voice recognition technology will be there...but until then you're going to have to suffer through it.
  6. Just order them online at TireRack and have one of their installers install them. I've never had the Serenitys but I did have the Turanza LS-V which the Serenity replaced and was happy with them. They weren't as smooth or quiet as the Primacy's though.
  7. I bet you can wait...but generally better safe than sorry...
  8. Well golly, I'm honored! You could very well be correct, I've just always heard that radial tires should only be rotated front to back...
  9. Thats the alldata specified labor time...12.8 hours. My mechanic did tell me it was more complicated than other Lexus designs.
  10. I still consider my advice correct. I think what you did was foolish...and I think if you're involved in another accident...it could be very tragic. To me it was never about money.
  11. That happens from time to time. I think they make some change to the software and forget to change the default. They fixed it...when I logged on it was set up properly.
  12. Some people smoke crack too, so why shouldn't everyone? Its an individual decision each carmaker makes alongside their corporate attorneys. BMW is obviously less risk averse than Toyota, but they are in the minority. Most carmakers lock out the nav functions when moving. Complain all you want about that one, its not going to change.
  13. I wouldn't put the Kumho tires on the car personally. A W rated performance tire might be nice on a GS with 18" rims, but its way overkill for the ES. I have the newer Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires on the vehicle...and they're the only tires I'd shod it with. I've had other Michelins, Bridgestones, Toyos, the Primacy is what you want. Not the MXV4 S8 that comes on the car, the Primacy MXV4.
  14. Radial tires should not be rotated side to side, only front to back.
  15. LOL! Thats not a small amount of money my friend. $1200 in parts plus at least $1500 in labor...probably more. Its 12.8 hours in labor just to replace the lower control arms on my ES...at a standard shop rate of $85/hour (which is cheap) just that is $1,000! So its "only" probably $2,500-$3,000 to have a shop replace the air struts with the standard suspension... I'll skip it.
  16. Yeah and the ES and the IS are pretty similarly priced. Or how the GX and LX have no HID lights...even as an option...but the ES does and the IS. When I bought my ES new you couldn't get HIDs on the GS300 at all...even though you could on the GS430 and the ES... Weird.
  17. The UL package is great, but I would really avoid the air suspension. Even if they last 100-150k miles...the standard struts will probably last 200k miles and to replace the air struts is a staggeringly expensive ordeal. Plus the UL package is pretty rare on '05 and '06 cars. The ride with the standard struts and the air struts is almost identical. You might want to look for a CL package...has everything from the UL but the rear seat controls and the air suspension.
  18. Thats right...your IS is !Removed!! ;) Thats really weird that button would be buried in the nav menus. Its funny what they choose to put in the menus for some models and not for others. Very few functions are in my nav menus...which I like.
  19. I think the color may not be properly blended. Theres some fade, but that color is too brown IMHO...
  20. My Lexus does this also. All you do is hit "DUAL" and it sets the passenger zone to equal the driver's zone, and both zones are controlled by the driver's control until either the passenger adjusts their control or you hit "DUAL" again. I hate that door! I know several people with GXs and Rav4s and all of them hate that door...
  21. There are different brands of alignment machines, but they aren't model specific...
  22. The trend is moving towards the lockout, not away from it. Anyways in this current market where Toyota is under fire about these floormat fiascos they're not going to take on the additional liability of removing the lockout. I've said it on here before, I've had my car for 6 years now and use the nav literally every day and the lockout doesn't bother me one bit. Just plan ahead a little, put in your destination before you set out. Our Prius has the backdoor workaround for the nav and we literally have never used it because we're used to typing in the destination before we set out and its just not neccisary to use it when we're moving.
  23. They should cover an OEM one too...
  24. Yes it does... The Infinitis I've driven have the same lockout...
  25. You did the right thing, those protection packages are not worth it. I also agree about the VentureSheild... We need pics!
