  1. That's what I used to do, but unfortunately Sunoco 94 is disappearing in the East. Most places only selling Ultra 93. ← No 93 in Canada.......only 87, 89.5, 92 & Ultra 94. Since we have only 4 major gas companies that's by far the best. When I travel to the states, some friends on this site & CL suggested I give Chevron 93 with Techron a try. I was VERY impressed with it's performance & fuel economy (over 500 miles twice on two seperate tanks of gas......although it was mixed in there with the Sunoco)! :D B) ;)
  2. How is this helping your survey so far Tom? B)
  3. Honestly, if thats true its only now BECOMING true. Until the advent of the CTS and now the STS, nobody cross shopped a Lexus, a BMW, a Mercedes with a Cadillac. A Cadillac was considered something along the lines of a Lincoln, not real competition. NOW I'm seeing people looking at the CTS and the STS as legitimate competition which I think is great, but I think they've still got some ways to go. ← All very true... ← I also agree. B)
  4. Sunoco Ultra 94 is all I use! :D B)
  5. Very simple, Lexus' reputation for quality, durability, re-sale value (helps when your trading in on another Lexus! ;) ) & you gotta love the styling.......not to mention low cost of maintenance, good power & excellent fuel economy! :D Why look at another auto maker? ;) B)
  6. The current spare wheel in the trunk does not match the other wheels on the car? I thought they were factory originals? But $100 at an auto wrecker or salvage yard is not a bad price if the wheel is in good condition. B)
  7. I have an idea for you......why not check your spare tire in the trunk? It should be a 'full size' rim (the exact same as you have on now)...have a look & there is the solution to your problem ;) Is the bent rim safe for a spare? just swap them. B)
  8. Was this a 'Lexus' Extended warranty or from an aftermarket company? If Lexus, you should ask to speak to someone that handles these claims or concerns on behalf of Lexus corperate that has the power to give an answer after they have had a chance to speak with the dealer directly. Be polite & professional about it & they might 'eat' the cost of the repair. Sounds like it's your Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF). B)
  9. Zd, I replied to your posting of the same question in the ES Forums. ;)
  10. If the cooling system is running normally, you should see the fluid level in the resevoir recovery tank (it should have 2 levels.....one for 'cold' & one for 'hot'). Add some coolant (and proper water mixture.....usually 50/50) & keep your eye on it for a week or so. If it disappears, something is not right as you could have a possible leak somewhere. When was the last time you did an engine coolant flush?
  11. If your ES is due for a 'complete' fluid change, I'd take this chance to replace the tranny pan gasket while your at it & clean the filter mesh screen at the same time (this should be good for several years before you have to change the gasket again as a preventitive measure). In between that time (sounds like your very fussy like me with fluid changes) I'd just do a 'drain & fill' methon every 30k miles or 2 years whichever comes first........especially if you switch to Amsoil synthetic ATF as it will last much longer than the conventional Toyota Type IV fluid. Just my suggestion as that is exactly what I will be doing. B)
  12. You mention one of your wheels is bent, can you post a pic of what the wheel looks like? Are these the 'factory original' wheels on your car or aftermarket?
  13. Can you go for a 98 or 99 instead? The 97 is technically the first year issue of the upgraded styling. If your heart is set, I agree with others comments, make totally sure you have all maintenance & service history up to date before you buy. Keep us posted & good luck! B)
  14. I can see a 'faint' similiarity maybe (on the exterior), but nothing very specific in the LaCrosse (Allure) personally (interior's not even close). B)
  15. It has nothing to do with the tires whatsoever......just bad luck ;) I'm guessing at least 2 of the 3 (or all 3?) were in the rear tires? ;)
  16. Nobody is arguing IMO, were just giving our opinions (yes as Lexus owners granted) :whistles: But when someone from another site attacks our vehicles (thanks for posting that article.....I almost want to join the GM site to give this A$$ HAT a piece of my mind) :D Funny thing is........it was made public many times that with the LaCrosse (Allure in Canada) GM made it a point to say they 'benchmarked' their car on the ES 330. To me that's a compliment! ;) But this guy's opinion basicly insults Lexus in general......well if that's the case, perhaps he should go to the powers that be at GM (read former product czar Bob Lutz) because in turn, he actually insults his own brand.......GM! :whistles: I would buy another GM car if they have something that really catches my eye for the record.......but in closing, I'll say that it would have to be one hell of a car for me to defect from Lexus! The chairshots are for the dude that wrote what he did not you Sal that posted the article. ;) B) Here's another one for him............:chairshot: There were some GM owners that actually defended Lexus by saying the disagree with his views btw.
  17. I'm impressed. Thanks sw! B)
  18. They (both Cadillac & Buick) had no choice but to shift their market towards a younger buyer.......the average age of their demographic was deceased & making the phone call from the horizontal telephone booth! just several years ago! lmao! (or at least in their mid to late thousands) :whistles: If they kept that kind of mind set, they would have had to supply a casket as standard equipment! ;) B)
  19. I can't afford a new one whether it be cash, finance or lease.
  20. What do you mean by worked? ← I was wondering the same thing.
  21. I don't blame ya! B)
  22. So overall, how many miles would you say per tank? 400 - 450?
  23. Oh, it more than meets the requirements for Toyota type IV fluid. ;) B)
  24. WOW! :chairshot:
  25. I remember this thread back like a year+ ago. Just courious sw, how many miles total on a tank of gas & what percentage (roughly) is city & highway miles?
