Ouch! Ft. Myers Florida (AP) -- An 81-year-old woman preparing to take a test drive at a car dealership hit her husband, a salesman, a car and a tree before running into a wall. "She must have panicked," said Joe Sica, sales manager at Honda of Fort Myers. The new Honda Accord shot backward after Dorothy Byrum got behind the wheel and apparently stepped on the wrong pedal Wednesday. The open car door hit her 88-year-old husband, Robert, and the salesman. Then the car struck the parked car, the tree and the wall. The air bag deployed, and Byrum was not injured. Her husband was knocked down but was in good condition the following day. The salesman was released after treatment and is expected to be out of work for about a week, Sica said. The car was written off.

Just wanted to ask folks if they had any 'speculation' on the next generation ES 350? (2007 ES) Please share & let's hear your thoughts & opinions. Personally, I'm getting impatient here as I want to see pics or at least spy shots! :whistles: B) My guess is, the car will be launched in mid to late spring of 2006 as an early 2007 model (same goes for the next gen Camry). AWD has a good chance of being offered, but I think it will be some time after the launch. It will most likely have the same 3.5L V6 as the new Avalon, but with a bump in horsepower & torque over the Av with a 6 speed automatic with improved fuel economy. Appearance & size wise, the car should look like a cross between the new GS & IS? That's about as far as I'm gonna go ;) Anybody have any opinions or actual facts? B)

I'd go with the newest GS you can afford with the Nav. Get all service history on the car & keep us posted! Good Luck. B)

His 2000 rx has 52k miles on it. He bought it September 9th of 2000 brand new. He has everything.....all the papers...everything you would get when buying it new... I mentioned that it's under the warranty, and he said his dealer (also mine ) said that it wasn't under power train.... ← I'd call Lexus head office direct to varify that & read all your paperwork from when the vehicle was brand new........it will state if that is specifically covered. B)

Yes, drain off the excess if you do not want to increase the chances of being faced with mechanical and seal leakage problems 5-10 years from now. But if you plan to sell your car before then or simply don't mind taking the risk, you'll probably be OK leaving the levels overfilled. No damage will occur right away, but it might during extreme circumstances. Like your transmission might start slipping due to fluid foaming if you drove up a long mountain grade on a hot summer day Your owners manual has stern warnings against overfilling either the engine oil or transmission fluid above the full marks. The proper fluid levels are at or slightly below the full marks, never above them. ← I have to agree with monarch......if the tranny goes because of it being overfilled, it big $$$$ :whistles: <_<

What are you looking for in a tire specifically? There are lot's of excellent choices in the 225 55 16 size. B) Falken Ziex ZE-512 in a V speed rating no less! Find a good independent mechanic & get him/her to spend an hour going over the car. All the work mentioned above shouldn't cost anywhere near $1000 but if you don't want to spend several hundred on the car, you will have to live with the sub par gas mileage......it's the old saying, pay me now or pay me later. :whistles: ;)

The tranny fluid I'd be more concerned about personally.

Are you looking to go with a Summer high performance tire or an Ultra high performance All season tire? B) I'm not so sure moving to a 235 55 17 size will make that much of a significant difference either from the factory 235 45 17's & also less choices available btw. Just my 2 cents ;) ← I am interested in an all season tire that improves the ride and reduces road noise. I have heard good things about the Michelin Pilot PS2 and the Falken 512. Everyone seems to love the Falken and it is alot cheaper than the Michelin. I would still ove to hear from GS430 owners who have changes tires and enjoyed an improvement. Thanks for the information. ← The Michelim Pilot Sport PS2 is a summer tire, not an all season. The Michelin you should consider would be the Pilot Sport A/S, but it is quite expensive. The Falken 512's would be an EXCELLENT choice in your size & much cheaper than the Michelins. The Falken or the Avon would be two of the best overall values for what your looking for in a tire. If the o2 sensor has completely failed yes the check engine light should come on. However, it might be working still, but not as well as a new one.....the o2 sensor is 9 years old now so it might be a wise idea from a preventitive maintenance standpoint. Shop around for prices for the other items mentioned.....call a Toyota dealer, Lexus dealer & a couple popular auto parts stores. If the plugs need replacing, I would suggest getting Iridiums (NGK or Denso)......I have all part nembers if you need assistance with that. Labour shouldn't take very long for a good expreenced mechanic. The back 3 plugs will be the most difficult item I would imagine. B) What brand of fuel & what 'grade' are you using for your car? Tire pressures OK?

PCV valve is good advice, so is the o2 sensor if it's not working properly. What is the history on your last 'major' tune up? What kind of plugs specifically? New plugs, air filter, fuel filter & new wires on top of the other stuff mentioned will help as well, plus perhaps a throttle body cleaning too. B)
