  1. For the most part flyguy, I agree. I would stay clear of Jiffy Lube however & consider taking your car to a Toyota dealer or ask friends & family if they have a good & reasonably priced indepentent mechanic. I just don't trust these 'young pup's' touching my Lexus. Just my 2 cents. B) ;)
  2. TSB's are not across the board for every unit monarch. The recalls I agree with, but not all 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD's suffer all of these 'maladies'.
  3. Do you mean did it loose $8,000 worth of value because of the accident?
  4. Just check the sidewall of the tire or look on the drivers door jamb for the correct size. Also explained in the owners manual. B)
  5. Did you shop for prices at different auto parts chains? Perhaps you can get the same price or better & avoid having to wait for the filter to be shipped. Don't forget down the road to get a 'filter kit' to clean & re-oil the filter down the road. ;)
  6. What's your tire size bethellen?
  7. I leave all for on mine at roughly 32 - 33 psi. ;)
  8. Born in Toronto, & have lived here all my life. :D Parents are of German & English descent however. ;)
  9. That's an understatement! :whistles: ;) Agreed & best of luck jeremy! B)
  10. Agreed, the car will loose some of it's value due to the accident....nothing can be done. :(
  11. Did you get a 4 wheel alignment when you had the tire installed?
  12. St. Pete beach is awesome! Kissimmee/Orlando is nice if the kids like water parks, defenately check out Typhoon Lagoon B) Was disappointed with the Keys personally (perhaps because the long, long , long drive?) so I doubt I'll be going back there until I have kids of my own. ;)
  13. Not feeling the styling personally. B)
  14. The SC is a RWD vehicle so I would invest in some good winter rubber & add a bit of weight to the trunk in order to make it a decent winter vehicle. B)
  15. Well, I've done a ton of reading and I believe Amsoil is the way to go...at least Mobile 1 syn....what I hope to gain is an extended drain interval and a little saving of money. I went with the ASL 5w30 from Amsoil. It has a 7,500 or 6 month drain interval. I saw your reply to the "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know, about motor oil" thread. After all that data you said "Excellent? No, it's just generic engine oil information that is not necessarily applicable to Asian car manufacturers. For example, the article says: "Very few manufactures recommend 10W-40 any more, and some threaten to void warranties if it is used." . But the facts are even for the 2005 models, Nissan says 10W-40 is fine for temps above zero degrees http://www.saber.net/~monarch/nissan.jpg and Hyundai even approves of the use of 10W-50 http://www.saber.net/~monarch/hyundai2.jpg " You didn't even address all the great data that proves sythentic is superior to conventional oil. Please explain your line of thought....I'm open to learning if you got something to teach me other then the fact that Toyota doesn't recommend exceeding their interval. ← ASL 5W 30 is what I use as well jeremy along with the Amsoil oil filter. B) I wouldn't bother with that magnetic oil plug however.......I just let the oil drain out a bit longer when it's hot & replace the oil plug gasket (or crush washer as some call it) every oil change. ;)
  16. Blizzaks are good yes.....there might be others to consider as well. What is the exact tire size you need bethellen? B)
  17. in SAUDI ARABIA, you have to have a licence insurance , which cost you about 165 USD per year, and this insurance only covers your driving faults. the full insurance is high comparing to licence insurance. and it depend on the type of your car. ( I think this one is applied in every place in the world.) The High speed driving is also uncovered in the insurance. I'm not going to reach 120mph, LS400 is amazing car , it's giving you very good ride, stable driving I had Nissan Cedric , GM Caprise , and Crasseda, all are nothing comparing to LS400. ← How much would 'Full insurance' cost you? B)
  18. I still have about 30,000 miles to go personally until I need this service done on my 01. As many of you know, I have 2 indepentent shops that handle my servicing. Because of the importance, I think it's a wise move to get this work done (tb,wp, seals & the like) done at the dealer just to be safe. Any Canadians have this done & what the total cost for all this work was (parts & labour)? either at Toyota &/or Lexus?
  19. Ouch! Fairly common repairs like that & have the engine pulled would drive me to drink. I understand some cars are difficult to get to, but WOW! O know some older GM products are like that too for a simple tune up. I don't understand some of the car companies methods for designing cars.....they should be easier to fix, maintain & repair today than 'in the old days' imo.
  20. I agree with SK, and it sounds like your WAY over due for a complete cooling system flush!
  21. I concur with both comments. I purchased a CPO 01 ES & did purchase a 'Lexus' extended warranty. It expires in Jan of 06 & so far I have never had to use it so I am beginning to wish I didn't spend the cash on that......but there is 6 months still outstanding so we shall see...... :whistles:
  22. Try going to www.tirerack.com, go to 'upgrade garage' & select wheels for your year & model of ES. Let me know if you need assistance down the road with tires as well. B) Post some pics of your new ride when you can.
  23. Couldn't agree more dc! B)
  24. that's a load of crap. Lexusfreak, I've driven with you before, my grandmother could do circles around you. hahahahahahaha :D :D :D :P :P :P just kidding my friend. steviej ← Oh geez! :whistles: ;) Funny guy! :P
  25. Bummer, Is it possible they might offer the IS350 in both RWD & AWD? B)
