  1. or primer and buy chrome spray yourself, then clear coat if needed.
  2. isn't there a bolt-on supercharger somewhere out there? maybe lextreme.com. overnight it, then bolt it on!
  3. that's a real good way of getting killed in an accident. i haave the same problem, that plastic piece broke on me so i just disregarded it. bad mistake people? i dont see the difference in cooling...and to think about it, air should be rushing up even more without it there.
  4. v8's shoudlnt be laughed upon. it's just this one v8 was not built for performance, it was made for smooth acceleration. lexus/toyota could've squeezed more outta the 1uz but why do that? go buy an i6 supra and ul be taken care of in the performance industry.
  5. if you are sure his car is stock, you can take out the resonators for your exhaust ($40), ground your engine ($20), take out the spare tire (free), make a bfi ($10), and i guarantee you'll take him. but him being a 6-spd, you wouldnt want to race more than a quarter mile.
  6. go race him, have a good start and ul EAT that rsx type-s. i will vouch for it, i have both. for some reasons those rsx's aren't as fast as the magazines rates it. i actaully have a buddy that dropped the japanese rsx type-r motor in his rsx. now THAT you will not have one chance. he had a racing ecu and exhaust too. he smoked me real good, i would say that is a 14.00 second car.
  7. nooo...the sc400 does not have any problems at high mileage. there has not even been 1 mechanical recall since it's birth in 92. buy it, give it a major tune up, and ul be set. just make sure it was well kept, that's all.
  8. drilled will crack over time. they have supra slotted brembos for 100 each, i'm pretty sure theyll fit.
  9. mkiv.com has it, but you can just cut off a piece of sheet metal and put it where the egr's contact is, are you running turbo? just remember, you're going to get an check engine light since the ecu can't detect the signal from the egr.
  10. stop driving the car and change the power steering pump. make sure the alternator is clean.
  11. where do you find a GOOD c/f hood?
  12. oh yeah, never thought about. that would be great, i have a pretty big air tank. this will work out fine...
  13. very true sadistic, my thoughts also. i just need to let myself relax and dont be anxious. well he's an attorney and he looked over escrow and he said he will go with it. i will definitely hook this up and test the compression. it's a 94 TT with "39,0000" miles on it. the pictures prove that mileage, but il still put it to the test. sadistic, awj, or anyone else- in terms of testing the compression, what are my options? can i just bring the engine down to a dyno shop and pay them to hook it all up? thanks you guys, once i get this car up and running, i will definitely take pictures and track videos.
  14. try supraforums.com for buying any supra parts. go to their parts trader's forum, it is fabulous. new posts comes up more often than you can check it. i'm buying a pretty nice (at least i think so) usdm 2jzgte right now for just 4000 with ecu. so good deals are around, just becareful. as in AWJ's words -it is so easy to get ripped off.
  15. hm..i've been dealing with this swap for the past few months so intensely that i can be of help to you. the jdm motor will fit but the wiring harness will not. each coil packs, for instance, have different terminals, so you'd have to buy both the jdm harness and usa harness to get it to fit right. if you are buying an aristo (gs300) clip, you will be need get a new oil pan, the jdm ones wont clear. you may also need new mounts for the motor. jdm motors does not have an egr, which controls smog at cold temps. most supra tt owners block this off anyways, so in a way it's an advantage. do not attemp going from auto-manual unless you have a lot of money and/or skills at swapping trannies. don't get me wrong, it's totally do-able and have been done, but not easy. more reasons to get the usdm motor: jdm motors have smaller injectors and smaller turbos. in addition, the turbos are made of ceramic as oppose to the usdm's steal. small fixer upper, but just something good to think about. one site that i found INVALUABLE for this type of information is MKIV.com. definitely check that out.
  16. with the resonators off, it sounds exactly stock but much louder. you WILL set off alarms. like normal, you will not hear a thing when idleing and cabin noise doesnt seem bad especially with rolled up windows. i paid 40 bucks.
  17. had my resonators taken out but left the mufflers. it literally sounds liek an american muscle. many people asked if i had flows. so to answer your question as to whether it will be louder, yes. in my case...the stock muffler sounded 3-4 times louder.
  18. dealer wants $450 for one headlight housing.
  19. i'm in the process of buying an engine and was thinking about escrow.com. has anyone tried it? the seller of this engine said he rather not go through this because he got ripped off from a company like this before. well let me know what you guys think of it. thanks.
  20. the only way to check the timing belt is to take of the cover. the one that says v-8 on it, should be 5-12mm bolts each side. the belt is op the cam gear, dont worry, you'll know it whehn you see it.
  21. he meant if it was a V-6 then belt snapping would not harm your valves. hondas do that too, if t-belt snaps the pistons will hit the valves. i bought my sc400 at 110,000 and no maintenance ever been done to it except for oil changes and so on. the belt looked like it was about to snap, so i would agree 90k mi is best.
  22. yeah, exhaust is a good pick me up. dont go too wide or you'll lose back pressure which will be the opposite of what you want. torque converters, intake, grounding your car will do the job too.
  23. functionfirst, i would just drop in the getrag 6-spd if you're gunna change from AT-MT and doing the supra swap. the 5spd tranny for the sc300 shouldnt cost you very much since a lot of the NA supra guys are going GTE conversions with getrag.
