  1. hey kino, today i will be checking up on my car... i'm going to take some pics of the spots today with my camera phone because i my mother took my digital camera on vacation to mexico. you'll still be able to see them clearly but might have to look harder on the trunk shot... no matter, you'll recognize it. for the radio area.. 1. pull out the ashtray 2. remove the top vents - - this will expose the top and bottom portion of your radio - - 3. remove bolts that you see holding down the bracket... if i remember correctly, the brackets are like twin towers... they run all they way up to the vents... but everything else is right. i'll get back later on today
  2. hey kino, one more day and hopefully my car comes out the shop, if not, i'll take pics of the trunk, running boards, and console... i would rather have my car back and take pics in my garage... i'll let you know tomorrow afternoon how it goes.
  3. hey what's up, i attached a pics of the throttle sensor. good luck
  4. hey what's up... sorry to hear about that engine block. instead of tearing down your old one and going through the hassle of wasting time, just buy the short block. it comes with everything and it's much cheaper to fix instead of having them replace the whole thing. call up a couple of jdm engine shops and ask them for a 93-97 2jz-ge engine block from a supra or lexus gs300.
  5. Hi, I was just wondering if you might have found out what the problem was with your car. I have a 1993 gs 300 and my husband drove the car (first mistake) he didn't notice that the temp went up really high after the check engine light came on and before he noticed it the car over heated and smoke along with steam came out. He kept adding water to the car and drove it home. He changed the termostat and now the temp is or seems good at times but the car has bubbles in the tank and the car keeps overheating. do you have any hints on this i have the 93 gs3 and i had the same problem... my car temp had gone up and i added more water and coolant... replaced the thermostat and it was fine for a very good while. well after about a year or so, i got the same problem again. so i took it to a friend's shop and they told me it was the water pump. apparently this is what i picked up... after the car overheats, it blows out the water pump. the water pump doesn't give out at first, but the seals and plastic propellar begin to deterioate slowly which will start to release coolan in it's overflow pipe. they replaced it with a high performance pump where the propellar is now metal and it runs perfectly fine. when and if you decide to replace the pump, go ahead and replace the timing belt. the belt is probably around 20 bucks but well worth it because you're not paying for the labor. since they have to tear down the whole front end, the timing belt is exposed and you might as well change it out. i paid about 450 bucks which is very very cheap compared to the dealership. good luck with your car... take care of it
  6. hey what's up... i told the dealer that it was a ridiculous price and to just change the plugs... so i think they just charged me for the damn labor and i left my car there for like two days and got a rental. but anyways, i paid a pretty penny for my damn tune up and now it's all good to go. i didn't have to get another tune up until like over a year later. our cars are very very low maintenance. right now my car is running in prime condition. a tune up is not one of those, i'll do it later kinda deals... it's a necesity and just shell out the cash for it... try to get it under 600 bucks.
  7. hey GSspeed, what's up. I took my GS3 and they wanted to charge me 2500 bucks for a tune up. basically change the plugs, wires, and do a visual... i'm like hell no... So i got it down for 400 bucks just to change out the plugs. unfortunately i have to get it done at the dealership. The engine is too hard to work on and I do not feel like going through the hassle of taking the whole top part apart to yank out 2 plugs. but lexus is very pricey.
  8. hey kino, lets see, to take remove the antenna motor, you would have to go into your trunk and remove the driver side panelling. you'll see the antenna motor chillin against the side of the fender. you'll see the bolt you need to remove. yeah, tomorrow i should get my car so please be patient with the pics.
  9. no worries my friend. I'm glad you're asking all these questions... that's what the forums are all about. I like to share my knowledge of the GS3/aristo to all the fellow members here. well anyways for the console, i would remove the ashtray first and then the ac vents. i think all you need is a flat head screw driver to pry out the vents and to remove the ashtray, i think all you need to do is open it up and pull it out slowly. after that, there should be brackets with screws to release the radio itself. after that you should be all good to go. I should be getting my car back tomorrow the 12th... if you want to wait a little bit longer, i can snap some pics so you'll have some concrete images of exactly what to do.
  10. to reset the computer i usually just pull off the negative terminal, listen for the clicks and then put it back on.
  11. well since you're trying to get a wire from your trunk to your head unit, i would run it through the passenger side of the car underneath the carpet and plastic running boards and all the way to the head unit. just pop off the two running boards when you open the passenger doors, unclip the carpet and run your wiring underneath until you reach the head unit.
  12. hey what's up... you can put through a wire from the trunk to to radio without taking out the backseat. it's a tight squeeze but you can do it. take out the back panel of your trunk cover, on the right side of the gas tank, you'll see a small opening that will lead to your rear passenger seat quarter cushion. you can pull the quarter cushion from the top and pull the wire through and run it down and under the carpet all the way to the head unit. hope this will help you out... when i get my car back, i will snap some pics for you
  13. hey there what's up... you shouldn't have a problem with swapping out the changer it self. just make sure your your connections between the changer and head unit have the same number of pins and the rca pre-outs connect. either than that, you'll be good to go.
  14. hey what's up. well if you're going to use an aftermarket stereo, you'll need: 1. stereo 2. amp 3. wiring 4. wire butts, connectors, wire jumpers 5. wire crimpers, wire strippers 6. particle board, power tools 7. creativity 8. patience depending on color codes of the factory wiring... these are common colors for power, ground and remote battery=yellow(constant power) accessorie=red ground=black remote=blue your pwr and const will depend on your style of installing... this will be an idea of what to expect when installing: removal of the factory stereo, with particle board and power tools, you need to make a face place for the big gap... you can either cut, or use jumpers on the original harness to power your new stereo. from your new harness, you're going to extend wiring for the speakers and remote wire(blue) and run them to the back of the trunk where the original amp is. remove the original wire harness from the amp and find speaker wires from harness. once you find speaker wires, connect using wire butts. now you got radio and speakers... now for the amp... run a power line from your battery to where ever you are going to mount it... connect a ground to the body of the car and connect the remote(blue) wire to the amp. since you already have your speakers connected to the stereo, you're going to dedicate the amp to your factory sub. just connect the subs to the amp and walla, you have your upgraded stereo and kickin sub... like i say, this is a very sketchy way of doing it... of course there things left out but didn't want to spend half a day on this... let me know what exactly you're going to get and what you are planning to do so i can give you way more specific details...
  15. what's going on, i have a 93 GS3 and it has about 192000 and still going strong. as long as you maintain your engine, you could get a good 4-500000 from the engine. if my 2.2 honda engine gave me 300000 miles, then for sure my 2JZ can give me more. I have complete faith in toyota on this engine not breaking down on me. besides, this is a very very low maintenance engine. enjoy your car.
  16. hey what's up. it's a simple process if you know wiring... i ran all my speakers from a panasonic head unit and dedicated 400 watts of SONY power to my factory sub. let me tell you, this sub hits hard for being stock. this is a pics of my panasonic head unit. since i had the trunk mat fitted for a factory cd changer, i just stuck the amp undeneath it and put it against the rear quarter panel of the car. so let me know what kind of equipment you have and i'll explain to you the process.
  17. hey leo what's up, the factory amp is located in your trunk on the passenger side quarter panel underneath your cd changer if you have it. it's pretty big, you can't miss it. and about the amp... totally up to you but i would pick a sony or jl audio.
  18. a-spec gs300 uses the 2jz-ge (93+ supra non-turbo engine) j-spec toyota aristo (lexus gs300) a. 3.0Q 2jz-ge non-turbo b. 3.0V 2jz-gte twinturbo c. 4.0Z i-four V8 there's the breakdown on engines
  19. hey gilbert what's up. i emailed my friend and await his reply.
  20. mission valley, very nice... money town!!! whoo hoo... anyways "aristo" is the japanese version of our car. I'm a car fanatic and i think japasese cars are better in every aspect than american cars. So... I did a japanese conversion on my car. Lexus GS300 = Toyota ARISTO in japan, the aristo comes with non-turbo, twinturbo, or V8 in the states, we get the non-turbo engine well there's your jdm crash course for the gs300/aristo if there's anything else you want to know, hit me up about it... or for the matter, what ever you want to discuss.
  21. i have 19's on my car and i didn't have to upgrade my brakes... they are perfectly fine. i think it's a preferrence/performance with the person.
  22. hey gilbert, thanks for the props, you'll see me around. by the way, where in san diego do you reside? i live by tijuana. anyways, i'll PM you the contact info of my friend.
  23. hey gilbert what's up man... here are pics of my car i'm the only one is southern cali with this kit and probably the only one in the states with this wing plus the only aristo conversion in san diego. so if you see this car around, feel free to stop and say what's up. you should post pics of your car.
