  1. Thanks. I was so used to everyone says how the gauge often gives false readings in the Northeast - new occured to me that there actually was a problem. A tack in the tire. Had it fixed and gauge reset. thanks
  2. Anybody know the procedure to reset the tire pressure warning light(s). I am in the northeast and the cold sometimes sets it off. Earlier in the week I brought it in to Lexus they checked the tires which were OK and reset the warning llight. A couple of days later the dashboard light came on again. Thanks
  3. I suggested to the service department that they market a special line of "LEXUS" ear plugs to deal with their recent rise of ratle complaints in their vehicles.
  4. I understand your disapointment and pain. However you have no idea how many things on that darn car may need warranty attention. You would be better off to swallow hard on this then to ding the relationship. Just take a view of these boards for all the TSB work and rattles, buzzes and the like that you will want them to help you with. If you wanted to place a complaint it is really just for future buyer to know that the bracket will automatically be installed and keep their eye out for it. My pet peeve has always been a dealer who puts their logo on the car - especially when glued or drilled in. So I always say right out - no logos - except a surround around the plate. But again I feel your pain man.
  5. Someone else may already have pointed this out: TSIB EG001-03 (All Models): Sulfur Odor From Exhaust Some owners of Lexus vehicles may experience a sulfur–like or “rotten egg” odor from the exhaust system. Sulfur is a natural component of crude oil from which gasoline is refined and the amount of sulfur can be decreased through the refining process. The amount of sulfur in fuel sold in California is regulated, however gasoline sold in other states can have substantially higher sulfur content. Sulfur content also varies considerably between gasoline brands and locations. http://faqlexus.com/index.php?action=artik...&artlang=en
  6. May also be linked to "creaky dash" as that Technical Service Bulletin addressed the area between the dash and the windshield. The link used to be under ""Pinned" TSB's" posted by Barkat - but the link seems not to work, at least not for me today. BARKAT...any idea how to get this poster to that link. Thanks
  7. Trina, I know, you know, having read my posts that noises and rattles are just never ending in these cars. I too was very worried about having them take the dash apart. The first time they fixed one problem then another came up. But I was really rigorous in finding exactly where the noise was coming from - even marked it with painters tape for the tech...LOOK HERE!!!...and the rattles and squeaks are now gone from the dash. The funny thing was that the new IS loaner they gave me - an 08 - had the same squeak! So it is a gamble to have the dash taken apart, but I am glad I did it. Then I sent the guys in service bottles of wine for Xmas...heck I'll take it back again if I have to. I also have an idea that I mentioned to the service department to market special "LEXUS EAR PLUGS" for new Lexus owners...... This is a huge problem for LEXUS - I was reading the same problems on the LS460 forums.
  8. Generally looks good. You sound totally under pressure which is not a good place to be when buying a car. - but never the less. I will tell you what i know. Generally I buy a car buy by solicting bids on the internet in a very specific manner -- this this the car, trim level, etc. I do this with the internet sales manager from each dealer within 100 miles - even if I don't care to travel that far - then play one off another. Again that being said my 07 same trim level (but with nav) was about 35,329 plus tax. title.... plus with all season mats (if you play it ,they will thru them in - $100 value). the important other thing is that the trade - it is a totally separate deal. Make sure you are comfortable with the number they are offering. I have to say, what you have working against you is the time of the month. It is always better to push the sale to the very very end of the month - and play your cards then - could get you $500 - $1000 more on the trade or a better price. Nevertheless everyone has a point when they say enough...I totally understand. From what I can tell on the price of the new car you are not getting hosed - could you save another $500 bucks maybe ... but in the I hope you are happy with your purchase. It all comes down to an intangable thing - can you wait or not - can you play harder or not. Remember this... regardless of what a salesperson says...buying anew luxury car is NEVER an emergency. Hope this helps.
  9. Better hurry. No bids so maybe a relist. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/is350-is250...sspagenameZWDVW Thanks for the listing.
  10. The maple trim on the center console (around the shift) got scratched the other day. The head of the vacuum cleaner rubbed aross it. Finish scratches very easily. Tried to buff it out to no avail. Anybody know if I can get the part and replace. Where? Cost? Thanks.
  11. Yes, that is correct. It is common for owners and dealerships to leave the fob in the vehicle for demo purposes. But the system can be disabled if it is idle for a long time and/or the fob is in the wrong place. This is needed to reduce the drain on the vehicles battery as well as the key fob. It needs to be woken up but pressing any one of the input buttons. Still curious to get some feedback from the original poster. This leaving the fob in the car killing the battery seems fishy to me. I literally almost never take the key out of the center console. I drive it from my garage at home to a parking garage in the city and leave the key in the console so the attendants can move the car - I always park on the outside of a tandem space. I have been doing this for 9 months. No dead battery yet. That accounts for about 95% of the use of the car. The other 5% of the time I take the key with me to go into a store (but this is rare)
  12. I feel your pain... I did finally bring the car in and they got rid of the rattle (for now). I really like the physical design of the car but LEXUS does need to get on these issues. I sent the following e-mail to Owner of my dealership. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dear XXXXXXX, I had the pleasure of meeting you many months ago in the service bay of your dealership. I am writing to commend your dealership in sales and service, as well as hoping that you could pass along a message to LEXUS at the corporate level. I purchased an IS 250 AWD in April of this year. Over the past 8 months I have logged close to 18,000 miles on that car driving back and forth to Boston. I have had the privilege of working with your service department, mostly on warranty issues, and I would like to commend them on their professionalism and courtesy towards me and my concerns. They have labored to address my concerns promptly and with the most positive of attitudes. So my congratulations to you on putting together such a class act. I am also writing to ask that you pass along a “message” to LEXUS Corporate. I personally think that they really need to examine the mechanics of the design of the interior of their vehicles. One of the main reasons I purchased a LEXUS was for unparalleled quiet within the cabin environment. What I have found instead was an ever growing number of rattles, buzzes and other noises growing with every 1,000 or so miles. I am aware of the claim that northeast climate and roads are brutal on cars. But nevertheless, just a simple search of the LEXUS Forums will unveil the epidemic proportion of these problems from southern California to northern New England; from the UK to Australia. I can also tell you that many, if not all, of the new 07 and 08 loaners (IS, ES Models) that I have driven exhibit many of the same problems that brought me in for service; vehicles with as low as 600 miles on the odometer. It is my understanding that this litany of problems has only arisen in the past several years, and that earlier models produced by LEXUS where not hounded by these problems. These type of problems erode the LEXUS brand. I am, in fact, the target buyer for LEXUS. A 45 years old with my own growing business. I will be purchasing a new vehicle most likely every two years. Peace and quiet is paramount to me on the interior (and exterior for that matter) of the car. If I do chose to buy another LEXUS it will be for the primary reason of the unparalleled support of your dealership. Once again, I am grateful to you and your entire staff for great customer service. Best wishes this holiday season. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  13. LEXUS of Northbourgh. I have nothing but good things to say about that dealership. They didn'y manufacture the vechicle - they just service it -- so I can't' blame them. They do everything in there ower to help me. It's been there for fou days.
  14. YES that is what they are doing...I should note however that my car is an 2007 and that TSB (saw that posted by Barkat) was for 2006 - which means the factory didn't fix in in subsequent models. Heck I think I hear that rattle in the new loaner which is an 08.....
  15. OK so at 16,000 miles in six months I've got rattle at the center console/dash, buzzing from the front seatbelts (left and right) and noise and misalignment of the moon roof. OK so it's at the dealer (whom I love - these guys are the tops and really try to go the extra mile). I said do not mess with it if you think you will make it worse. Anyway they are working on it. The head tech told me that he had been there since the beginning of LEXUS and that it's only in the past few years with the use of newer and lighter materials and increase technology in the cars that he spends a lot of his day chasing rattles in LEXUS cars. Also the whole story about Northeast roads and cold cycles and how any car is subject to developing noises. But the funny thing is the loaner is a brand new 08 250AWD, and with 600 miles on it - it already has noises. I love my car and I like the brand but I also drive 30,000 miles a year and noise bugs the heck out of me. Do anyone have experience either with other models of Lexus or other brands (mercedes, bmw, audi) of cars in which the interior is totally noise free?
  16. Thanks dealer suggested on the phone that is may be weather related. Too bad the purchase of the car didn't come with a "full relocation package" to southern California! Thanks for the reply. Currently the rattle comes and goes --hoping for it to stay at least when I show up to the dealer for a fix. Believe me, Southern California won't fix the problem, knowing the rattles I have in my car. Of course, I'm the only one that can hear them, as well. I've learned to "tune" them out........ Trina - I thought you gave that car to your husband who has a hearing problem...and doesn't hear the rattles at all...

  18. Anybody have any of the following problems - IS 250 AWD 2007 1. Rattle in Center Dash Assembly between AC vents and Cigarette Ashtray 2. Buzzing from Seat Belt Assembly 3. Rattling in Sunroof - especially in "vent mode" (yes I jst saw the post). I have a 6 month old IS with 17 K and within the last 1000 miles all of the sudden its noiseville inside the cabin! Bringing in next week. I really like the service but I give the product a "B" at best.
  19. THANKS for the info. Didn't even know about the night screen - wow what a difference not to have that bright NAV screen light on in the interior of the car at night.
  20. I will need to get new tires for my 250 AWD in the next few months. It has the standard tires that come on the stock 17" rims. What should I expect to pay for new tires and install at a dealer vs. at a tire specialty store. If I go the dealer route I want to know what their cost is so I can bargain down the price - like everything else from dealer. Also any recommendations as to brand/type. Thanks.
  21. Well, I made the mistake of not waxing my HONDA immediately - big mistake. Scratched the clear coat in a bruch car wahs. Get a good coat of wax on the car ASAP. Then touchless is good - but tell them no brushes on the body or glass - because many places before you actually get into the touchless portion of the car wash take brushes to the windshield and bumpers - bad idea - got some scratches that way. I detail my car once a month and wax it every other month.
  22. RED with Cashmere really is a fabulous color combo - one of the best. I didn't feel I could get away with that color personally... so I went with Black Shapphire Pearl (which is a dark blue metallic) with a cashmere interior. Only a few red ones on the road in the northeast and they really look great though. I don't worry about the possible dirt factory - I have all season mats and I really am the only person in the car 90% of the time.
  23. Yes I heard that too and think it is total crap. my earlier post says it all..."Choppy Tranny". The car (and/or me) hasn't learned a deamn thing in 10,000 miles in four months
  24. ======= Nothing new IMO....Hopefully they fixed the design flaws(according to one Lexus dealership service techs). It's just the photography effects. WHICH FLAWS.....
