  1. Will do. You know I always can count on you for a response to any of my rattle/creak threads. The funniest thing with me and Lexus, when I first bought the car April 07 I noticed this clicky clack in the rear when I went over bumps I took in in several times and really raised hell with Lexus (writing letters telling them about a design flaw) and Lexus Corporate refused to acknowledge the problem. I just found on the web a list of Technical Service Bulletins and as of April 08 there is now a bulletin for that problem. I am immortalized in a service bulletin... oh what a thrill.. My local Lexus Service department is awesome - they really try hard to fix things and never make me feel like I'm an idiot for asking. And always tell me to come back if I am not satisfied. Love love my car... if they could just figure out a way to put it together with felt between every piece!
  2. Anybody had this in their IS? It is at the dealer now and they are going to take apart a portion of the door panel there is a slight creaking towards the top center that is a bit annoying. I told the Tech that if he didn't think he could make it better don't bother (For instance, I am used to the dash rattle after two fixes) but he said he could make it better.
  3. That's interesting that the referenced advertisement shows a black, or blue sapphire pearl, car with tan iinterior... but the description says black on black.... hum..bait and switch?
  4. Thanks. If I'm not mistaken, they just came out with a lowered suspension option for the awd's. But maybe it's not such a good idea if your in deep snow territory. They did - it's the F sport suspension - but it's 1,000 installed, plus I would need the larger wheels to complete the look so add the rubber, wheels and suspension and I'm into the deal another 3 grand. Which is about 8 car payments...So I guess will just dream, or move to a warmer climate and get the 350
  5. AWESOME. LOVE the wheels. Very jealous of anyone with the 350. I have the 250AWD and it sits higher. Would rather have the 350 but just would make it on the icey hills in my neighborhood even with a great set of snow tires. so I will just look at yours.....
  6. YES on all. This is the curse of the IS. But there are Technical Service Bulletins on these, so they are "fixable" . The brake pads can get changed out for free. You have two choices, ones with less brake dust and once that don't squeek. I chose the latter. They actually changed out the pads and the rotors for me for free at close to 28K - haven't had the problem again in 20K miles. The Dash rattle also can be fixed for free. They remove the dash and add a "noise kit" basically felt padding. I found the dash problem to reoccur, but I don't feel like having them take the dash out again. I now have moonroof noise (again) and passenger door buzz. Service is very responsive, but they didn't build the product so there is a limited amount they can do - but they try....But it is a beautiful car - I think the nicest on the road - always get complements.
  7. I scratched my wood center console and tried to replace as well - Cost $1900. I was like forget it, that is 4 car payments.
  8. 47,000 miles on my 07 AWD - I have the same one in the passenger door - as yet unfixed. My cureall used to be to have them "lube" the seals - but that's not it. Also the moonroof started to make noises again. I drive with the passenger window cracked and the music on at least low - to drown out the noise. I got the dashboard issue too but I am done with trying to fix that - don't want the dash pulled off a third ime.
  9. My IS same issues. After a while you just got to get on with your life. I turn the music on and crack the passenger window a bit. The problem is that the cars are just too quite inside I think, so you hear anything. And although there are a few on this forum who do not have any rattles or squeaks - I think it is rare not to - in fact I was told by a LEXUS Tech the GS is WORSE. My favorite story is my Cousin who is a die-hard Mercedes guy and said to me "I have never had a squeak or rattle in my cars"... I said to my wife "...let him lend it to me for a week I will find them!"
  10. 2006 Civic to IS 250 upgrades must be common. I had a 06 Civic with 15,000 miles and traded to Lexus (had to walk out the door to get it) for $14,500. That was after negoitating a sweet price on the IS over the internet over a series of e-mails back and forth with the dealers. But that was 18 months ago. In a totally different economy then today.
  11. I got a quote for $900 installed F Springs for my 2007 IS 250 AWD - lowers it about 1 - 1/2" total. I saw it on the Service Guys IS in the parking lot. I opted not to do it because if I really wanted the look - I wanted the larger wheel size, so then I needed new OEM rims and rubber say another $1900. So I bagged the idea. My understanding is you void the warranty unless you use the Lexus Parts installed by Lexus. The issue is with all the LEXUS AWD sedans.- The GS as well. The 250 and 350 Rear Wheel Drive cars sit lower and look better. But 3 Grand to get the look seemed steep. I was thinking when I trade it in next year or so I will negotitate a price with all the stuff I want on the next car.
  12. Same thing - only replaced one. Had 25K on the car. I really pressed them hard as to whether I would have problems, but there just wasn't alot of tire wear on the other three. It's interesting because the label on the tires when you buy the car says they may only last 25K. I am close to 50K and the tires are still in great shape. Mostly highway driving at 65 mph.
  13. Please excuse my ignorance. My 2006 IS250 AWD w/ Nav has an in-dash 6 CD changer and the map DVD player which is hidden behind a face plate. It is not readily accessible. The faceplate has to be removed with tools to change out the map DVD (which I had my dealer do recently - cost $318 + tax!). The CD changer doesn't play DVD's. Can you watch DVD's with this system? Thanks. NO
  14. I have the nav, especially since the touch screen operates everything. - i like it. But to tell you the truth my wife's Garmin ($300) works much better and is easily updated. Saw a brand new 2008 250 RWD (no nav) still sitting on the lot at Lexus of Northboro in Massachusetts. Likely to get a deal since that is a "southern car" - RWD configuration is a rare thing in the Northeast - could probably see it and deal on the internet. Also the nice thing about the RWD models is that they sit lower then the AWD models (the gap between the tire and the wheel well is a good 2 inches lower.
  15. 07 AWD. Anyone have any door panel noise. We have lubed the seals..no difference. Also checked the obvious...seatbeat on B pillar, glove box, seat. Anyone else have this albeit...slight... noise coming from the passenger door(s)?
  16. The IS250 is the same....I grew up in Wantagh :)
  17. That's crazy - whoever had the car must have driven it hard. I had the front brakes (and rotors) replaced for free at 27K with the TSB (they said the rotors had uneven wear so they threw them in). And I am still on the original tires at 43,000. I drive 85% highway.
  18. Can't tell you... but can tell you it costs me $375.00
  19. Wow I would have thought with the 18" rims you would have LESS rubber and a more bumpier ride (and therefore more rattles) How much did you pay for the rims and rubber? Where is the dark chrome lettering applied to?
  20. Never have that problem. Even just for a standard 5,000 mile service - I just ask for one when I make the appointment. Believe me it's built into the prices at Lexus - it isn't free....
  21. If you disconnect the battery you better have the radio code when you reconnect or I don't think the radio will work.
  22. I had a similar problem with one of my wheel's on one of the spokes - the clear coat was just gone like a sheet of it came off some how and there was a jagged edge a the points where it came off. I went to the dealer and they said that they would refinish the wheel. I talked to my detailer and he said there was no way that it came off from his cleaning and that for a brand new car I should go back and say I wanted a new wheel. I politely did just that and Lexus dealer gave me a new rim. No problems with any other of the wheels since - and that was 30,000 miles ago and countless both touchless car washes and details later - obviously the clear coat on that one wheel was a manufacturing problem. I have to say that my dealer had on many occasions surprised me thought - like replacing a rubber floor mat that developed a hole in it for free, and replacing not only the front brake pads for squeaking (TSB) but the rotors as well. for free and that was at 24,000 miles!
  23. WOW. Really Great. Could you give details on the Rims and Tires. Also did you lower the car using the "F"springs" or is that just the original springs and sway bar? CONGRATS
  24. Totally understand your opinion, but I wouldn't eliminate a clear bra. Firstly you can always peel off the bra and have it replaced in three years - but the chipping is relentless. I have a few chips on the hood above the bra...I have to say that the paint job is very unusual in that when you get a chip you actually see bear metal. On my wife's Honda at least you see the primer coat when you get a chip. Bottom line is how much do you drive. I drive 2,500 - 3000 miles a month. The license plate surround from the dealer actually got so chewed up with rock chips I had to replace it - I imagined what my front end would look like....
