  1. Are those different calipers then the stock ones...the stock calipers on the 250 AWD do not look like they have enough surface area to get a decal on it. Also who did the paint on the calipers?
  2. I love the NAV in the car...but quite frankly my wife's garmin is more accurate and better. That said I would buy the NAV again because I love the blue tooth and I like the controls thru the NAV screen. The nav on the LEXUS has actually misdirected me several times and many roads are missing (mine is an 07). I actually sometimes mapquest directions before I leave for an important meeting so I don't get screwed if the NAV mis-directs me.... I really believe that LEXUS should team up with GARMIN and integrate their system into the car. Heck they do that with Bose on the sound system. Just makes sense to integrate the best systems in your car.
  3. I was disappointed with the Power of the 250 since I first minute test drove it, but impressed with with physical design of the car and the positive reviews. Since I drive over 100 miles a day, I had to buy the 250 rather then the 350. I never even test drove the 350 because I knew I would like it better. Also in the snow my thought was the AWD would be better (although I have read in this forum that the 350 performs well in snow) Just yesterday I was thinking about trading up to the 350, but the $450 monthly gas bill with my 250 seems to always get in the way. Congrats to all with the 350...watch out for state troopers though!
  4. I can now finally say to you....Welcome to the world of Lexus
  5. Had the car for 31K. Sat Radio worked this am. Get in the car this afternoon. No audio on XM - but display shows songs. FM, AM and CD works. Decide to restart car...see if that will "re-boot.", the cure all for cell phone and computer problems... Turn car off. Then go to restart and it just turns over - doesn't start. Try again it starts and now XM does work. Anyone have anything similiar happen?
  6. 250AWD Auto - 31,000 miles - 90% highway - 24 - 25 miles per gallon, driving like grandma 80% of the time
  7. Happened to me ONCE in one year/31,000 miles, about four months ago. I would just let it go. Wait and see.
  8. I think you need to take this up with the dealer who sold you the car. A vehicle losing power at high speed is dangerous. If it was a new Lexus you would be working on a Lemon Law claim if it continued. Sorry to hear of your troubles.
  9. Gotta wax it or have it waxed - always looks brand new when finished. The car wash wax will not protect the finish like a good hand wax with a quality product.
  10. 08 IS has slighty darker rims then the 07 and 06
  11. IS owner here. I have the same problem with the LEXUS Factory Rubber Mat! My heel, after three months, caused a break in the Mat. (I am a guy - so no high heels...haha) I brought it back and complained... and they warranted the mat! - replaced the rubber mat for free since I got it when I got the car. My regular service guy ( who also has an IS) couldn't believe they warranted it when I saw him the next time. Three more months and the darn thing cracked at the heel again. This time I backed it up with Duct tape. :( My suggestion would be to go with an after market rubber mat - as the original factory mat LOOKS indestructable - but in fact is week at the heel point.
  12. Sweet ride - that was one on my color combo that I wanted - ended up with same interior with Black Shaphire Pearl. Hey By the way.. watch out with the Wood on the center console. I was vacuuming and the hose slipped out of my hand and scratched the heck out of it - I am still bummed 6 months later. Thing scratches super easy. I asked Lexus how much to replace...$1900!
  13. Three-week owner of an 08 IS250 AWD. I do get a lot of dust on the fronts. Should I wait until the 1,000 to get this done? Any other things I should have they fix at 1,000? Thanks guys. This site is awesome. I would wait as long as possible. I got 26K miles out of my brakes before the change. They would have changed them out until 49999 - at least that's what they told me. By the way - I had mine changed out for non-squeak pads ( you have a choice). You may want to wait and see. For me I was all set for the low dust pads until the squeak came. For me if its a choice between dirt and a loud squeak - I would go for celaning my wheels twics a week.
  14. How many times do they say LUXURY in this definition off the Internet... Lexus From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation. First introduced in the United States, where Lexus has become the highest-selling make of luxury cars, today Lexus brand name vehicles are available throughout the world. In 2005, the Lexus marque launched in Japan, marking the continued global expansion of the luxury division. Since its debut in 1989, Lexus has developed a reputation for the luxury and reliability of its vehicles, along with the quality of its customer service. ************************ OK enough on that... like I said whatever... Interesting results of the survey : Almost half surveyed say they haven't thought of an alternative, most are not scacrificing vacation and the majority of people say their breaking point is beyond $6.00. OK Baddboi - Got to go to work to pay off my tank of premium gas at 4.29 a gallon...
  15. A brand new fully loaded Honda EX V6 or Camry LE V6 also costs just north of $32K. Should they now be considered a "luxury" car? I purchased my '07 ES 350 (Previously Owned, Fully loaded w/ 13,500 miles and the following equipment: Ultra Luxury Package - ML, NAVI, Panoramic Roof, Adaptive HID lights, etc. - everything except for the high end adaptive cruise control for $31,500). Again, I spend my money wisely! Don't get me wrong, Lexus is a luxury brand by most standards, I just take issue with a $35K automobile being referred to as a "luxury" car or a car that requires "premium" gas to qualify it as a "luxury" car. Also, if you read the posts on the ES350 forum you will take note that many of the "postees" feel that Lexus' "luxury" brand has slipped in that particular line of car. I agree with most of them. To your business partner - Hyundai is today what Honda was back in the late 70's or early 80's - an up and coming alternative. This is ridiculous.. yes you are right LEXUS is NOT luxury brand...my mistake... how silly of me :) . You win on all counts.
  16. Point taken, duly noted - only one disagreement. LEXUS is a luxury product. That is not a debatable point. You can buy a similarly equiped non-labeled brand (Honda, Toyota, Hyundia) for 10 grand less and it gladly runs on regular. The fact that the IS is 35K is irrelevant to that fact. We all spend 10 grand more for a look and a name. All the while paying more sales tax, excise tax. My business partner a loyal Honda buyer now swears by Hyundia for build and price and thinks anyone else is just wasting money. He took his extra ten grand and put it in Boeing. :)
  17. Why would you think you would do better in your IS than a Prius if size is your concern? Your IS is significantly smaller than the Prius. The Prius is a midsized car, same as an ES, Camry, or GS. The IS is a compact car. Look it up. I'd feel safer in the Prius, honestly. The Prius is a very, very safe car. People oftentimes say things like this and its just plain dumb. I make a lot of money, but that doesn't mean I have unlimited money or that I am unaffected by the rising costs of everything and the recession. Lets look at what I spend on gas. I fill up about 5 times a month. So at $40 a tank I'm spending $200 a month on gas. Now that it costs me $75 a tank I'm spending $375 a month on gas. $6 a gallon? $90-95 a tank, $475 a month. Thats an increase of $275 a month from what it was last year if gas goes to $6 a gallon. Now, I can certainly afford that but everything else increases in costs as well. My fiance has a $1,000 per month grocery and household budget which includes our dog food and cat food etc, our groceries, etc. Over the past two months she has been incapable of staying in that budget. Its not her fault, she's buying all the same stuff she's always bought, it just costs a *lot* more. So, we're going to have to increase that budget to $1200. I have a friend getting married in Mexico, Cancun. We can't get a flight down there for less than $1500 round trip. Why? Fuel prices. My utilities have gone up to $638 a month...and I live in a townhouse. Cable bill went up, gotta fuel those vehicles. Fuel prices have a huge effect on EVERYTHING in our lives and if you think you are immune because you make a good living, think again. If you think making a good living means that you shouldn't be concerned with what things cost and trying to get as much value as you can out of your income, then you like the vast majority of Americans are going to be in for a rude awakening at some point in your life. Thats why most Americans, regardless of their income, can never afford to retire and die worse than penniless. ********** Nice rant. I am do not consider my self immune to rising fuel costs and the repercussions throughout the economy. The question is what will you do differently and when is the breaking point, personally I think it is irrelevant for the reasons stated in the first paragraph of my earlier post. ON TOP OF THAT, this type of vehicle is a LUXURY purchase! So maybe lighten up on the hardship of buying dog food - we all get it. If you are driving a LUXURY car at the expense of your families real need your priorities are severely misguided. There is a difference between concern, complaining and more importantly action. You post makes no suggestions just complaints. I'm done.
  18. Says everything I need to know about you pal. I think the joke is on you if that's what you think. The 250 is a fine car for most things and most people I'm sure. It's a damn good looking car and if you can't afford the 350, Get the 250! I'm just saying, I wanted a fast luxury car and I got one. When I drove the 250, I was glad I picked the 350 because I don't think the 250 suits me. The IS-F is insane. The charger doesn't have the luxury like the Lexus has, come on! I'm sure you could get a real fast car, but who cares if its not a Beamer, Lexus or Mercedes! I think a 250 AWD comparably equiped is more then a IS 350... if not... its with a few grand one way or another... I don't think peoples decisions on this auto are all about horsepower. BUT the best part is not matter if you have the 250 or the 350... you get the rattles, squeaks and brake dust at no additional charge! That is what I find particuarly facsinating about the F...same basic engineering... but for 25K more... then I would be really *BLEEP*ed with a noisy dash....
  19. Well you are alot younger then I am..... :) That is a joke sir... I am well aware of your seniority on the boards and in years... on me.... Actually I was going to quote the price from my grandaddy's gas stations in NY in the 1930s...0.11 9/10.... and that in photographs is almost as shocking as th 4.99 9/10 I saws in Miami a few weeks back!
  20. The reality is that this question (although well intended) is irrelevent. America has constructed its cities and lifestyle around the automobile and decentralization. To deny that is to deny our entire way of life. Even in Massachusetts - which has fairly extensive Mass Transit... it is still 20 minutes away from my home. The fact is Americans will continue to !Removed! and complain but will pay whatever the price. And why shouldn't we? I read just the other day that adjusted for inflation that 0.25 cent gas of 1940's is equivalent to 3.90 gas today - so we are not that far off. I personally must drive 100 miles a day to maintain my own business - so my answer is I will keep filling up and dreaming of my next Lexus upgrade. What will happen with people on "fixed incomes" - no matter how small or large... they will adjust other things in their lives to pay or simpily go into debt. As a business man I don't fault the oil companies.. its supply and demand, would you charge $100 for something you could get $1000 bucks for? Even more laughable is the thought of posing such a question on a LEXUS forum ...don't you think? Obviously anyone who would buy a Lexus has some money to burn... don't get me wrong I love my car but it is an indulgance (one that I am willing to pay for in purchase price, local excise taxes yearly on the car.. which is stupid, maintenance, poor fuel efficiency and insurance). We are looking at gas $6.oo at a minimum very soon. The question is when will we see alternatively powered vehicles? I say 30 years out, and gas at $20.
  21. The sensors are great. Both times they went off I thought false alarm because tires looked fine. Wrong both times nails both times. In fact the first time it was so small without a head the dealer didn't see it unless the sensor went off again. Since I drive 100 miles a day they saved me from being stuck on the side of the road both times.
  22. I never had the pleasure of driving the 350. But since the day I test drove the 250, I felt it was underpowered. But with gas at $4.20 for premium and I drive 3000 miles a month...i will have to live with less power:(...but great looks!
  23. sweet color combo congrats... enjoy and stop secondguessing the nav....
