  1. get the clear bra - you will not be sorry/ IS250 AWD 10,000 miles 4 months
  2. went there and registered... Well I tried searching through the manual can someone direct me to the page thats one damn thick Owners manual. I also tried looking at the index in the back too... I was told 500 miles
  3. Definately worth a clear bra - many different rade names...mines is by "Autoban" called "Road Block" - I was skeptical when first approached to get it by the dealer - but driving 2500-3000 miles a month I am glad I have it.
  4. Sounds like you could have had a better deal originally, but ended up with it anyway by upgrading. Nice! How did you get IS250 with Mark Levinson? I had to special order the configuration. Yes, that is a very nice dealership. They like to keep returning customers. Good business. WOW that's amazing...congrats
  5. Anyone notice the clear coat wearing off the rims at all on the stock 17" wheels. Noticed it on one spoke.
  6. Bartkat...can lock this thread this is stupid....
  7. Yup I think that was it...the emergency brake....appears to be gone....
  8. Was that recall only for the 06 or for the 07 as well?
  9. Just when I was totally resolved to forgetting about this noise (apparently due to the parking brake and the calipers) ..I have been driving with the windows up so I don't hear it....I get a call from the dealer. (It's been radio silence from LEXUS Corporate to my letters detailing the "clickety click" problem - see earlier posts on this thread) The Dealer called to say that they have a fix (now that's a first - having them call me without calling them). They have been seeing the problem more and more and yesterday a Tech came up with a fix ( I am wondering whether it involves bubble gum...). So I figured what the heck...need an oil change, nitro in the tires, and the swap out for the rear view mirror anyway. Stay tuned.
  10. LOL > You are too funny. You make a darn good point though in picking what feels best for you. After all, it's your hard earn money you will be spending. Perhaps you might want to consider an ES350 as well? As for paying MSRP... with the IS350 selling like hotcakes in the Houston area, not many dealers care to negotiate since if you don't pay full price, the next person in line right behind you will. That was 2 of the 3 Lexus dealership's mentality when I shopped for my IS350 fully loaded. It helped to bring in a printout from Edmunds.com or automsn.com that showed the model you picked with the packages on them displaying Dealer Invoice, MSRP(sticker price), and TMV(true market value) on it. The TMV shows you specifically what the folks in your zipcode are actually paying for their ISx50 cars with the same features. Come in to the dealership educated and prepare and things will go much smoother. It lets the sales people know you both have all the cards on the table and there no BS needed. The first dealer told me they can only knock $500 off MSRP. The second told me they won't budge because if I don't buy it, someone else will. The third was willing to knock $2000 off MSRP and sell me any additional Add-ons at their cost. You might not have the same luxury to deal with 3 different dealers in your town, but having the TMV will be a resourceful thing regardless. Goodluck with your search. Hehehe... thanks for the compliment (?) for being funny. :D If I was a guy, I'd get IS350 at a heart beat. A chick like me is fine w/ IS250 just as long as it got a good color and hot wheels :) It is quite comparable to my current car too, which is BMW 325i. You are lucky to have 3 Lexus dealers in your area. I got ONE! There's one more but 2 hrs away. I did go there tho'. The negotiation hasn't started yet. Hopefully we can do this over the phone. I'm also thinking about using Costco auto buying program. I'm not sure if you have Costco around your area, it's like Sam's club in other area. Oh also if you are doing a trade ...if they ask initially say no... then after the price is set on the Lexus neg. the trade in separately ... for that you will have to go in and go head to head. my wife and did the good cop, bad cop thing....which meant finally my wife told me to walk out the door and head for the our car...I was not happy about doing that...but she was right he came running after me with the number I wanted for the trade. She told me worse case scenario you get in the car ----drive away.. go around the corner and come back if you really feel you want to close the deal and have had enough

Don't bother talking on the phone or driving 2 hrs. negoiate the entire deal via e-mail. Be specific and say "ready to buy" and the exact trim auto and trim lines you want. If anyone messes around like giving you MSRP right off the bat - tell them that there competition is not playing those games and that you are aware of the invoice, holdback and other incentives that they have. Get the e-mail address of the internet sales manager at each location - call for that if you have to. Avoid speaking on the phone or talking directly ----they also don't need to know that you would rather not have to drive 2 hrs. Get the game going between the dealers. and close the deal by Tuesday ..last day of the month. As a female you are at a disadvantage by speaking to them on the phone or going head to head. My wife used the aforementioned method to by me three cars in the last 2 years and she loves doing it. GOOD LUCK
  12. The ISP Mode wheels do nothing for me. I do like the G-Spiders better than the stock wheels, but not $2450 worth. If it were me, I'd take that $2450 and put it towards upgrading the IS250 to an IS350... Ditto! The ISPs are utterly plain and the G-spiders are probably the most common after market wheels across a large number of cars. Personally, even if both these wheels were a free option, I'd pick the stock wheels over these 2. But since you're willing to spend it, I'd use that money for some extra horses ;) Ohhh... so you'd pick 17" stock wheels? Or is there other 18" stock wheels? Once again off on a tangent...back to why buy a 250 instead of a 350.... The buyer of a 250AWD is not going to buy a 350. This poster lives in Buffalo and a rear wheel drive car in February is like a pig in the mud. As for the wheel selection. I have the car with 17" wheel and the car looks much better with 18" wheels. I am not clear on this but the 18" wheels come with summer tires and I am not sure the AWD car will have the same traction with the larger wheel and and all season tire. As for the look of one vs. the other - if $2400 is too much there are hundreds of after market alternative.
  13. Engine Passion - They should care because they will slowly erode customer confidence and go down the toilet. Just look at what is happening to a company like. DELL. Once considered the gold standard of quality and service. Right now they are in the tank on both. I am pushing the matter with them more to see if their is "anyone home" in that company or not - it is not a majopr problem with the car. But when you go to buy the thing they make it sound like it will brush your teeth for you....
  14. I got the same car like yours in the end of March this year but is black, after three week i got the same problem here(the noise), i went to the service at the first time they tell me it is normal, then i move to the dealer, the sales drove back right a way to the service, bacause he feels the same, lexus cars should not have that noise, the service guys saw i am very not happy with my car then they try to fix it, after they fixed, the noise reduced 90%, but i feel my car runs not normal, i don't know how to say here, sorry about my english, the car looks very good but......... MORE FROM LEXUS THEIR RESPONSE TO MY LETTER (posted on 28 June 2007)...AND MY RESPONSE BACK.... For your entertainment.... Names removed to protect the innocent... Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Lexus Customer Satisfaction regarding Concern. We appreciate the time you have taken to share your thoughts. As you requested, we are responding in writing. Lexus Of Northborough has indicated that your 2007 IS 250, was inspected and found to be operating within Lexus specifications. We apologize that the vehicle has not met your expectation. Please be assured that your dissatisfaction has been documented in our records for product improvement consideration. If you require further assistance, please respond to this e-mail, or contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-255-3987, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Pacific Time. Sincerely, LEXUS…. Dear LEXUS REPRESENTATIVE, Thank you for taking the time to speak with me on the telephone about the “official response” from LEXUS regarding my concern (copy below). As I mentioned to you and with all due respect…THIS IS A BOGUS RESPONSE FROM YOUR CORPORATION. I expect more from LEXUS. Why? Because LEXUS told me to expect more! As an aside, when I checked the vehicle into the Northborough Service Department, the service specialist assisting me said he used to work for Mercedes Benz and their standard tag line to a customer with a complaint was “…well the vehicle is performing to according to specifications…”. In other words…just live with it. Your response is not what I would have thought I would have gotten from LEXUS based on my wonderful experiences to date at a local level. I strongly suggest you look further into the issue outlined my letter dated 28 June 2007. Again, I am Architect and business owner with a successful growing business – likely to purchase one or more vehicles every two years. Your attention to this matter will assist me in determining whether LEXUS and their “pursuit of excellence” are rigorous enough to become a permanent member of my design team. As you know, my letter heaped praise on your employees and dealership in Northborough and I stand by those accolades. However, I do believe that this issue is not solvable at the dealership level. Corporate needs to be as responsive as that dealer, but use their greater resources to solve a most likely fixable design flaw in the IS. The fact that your local dealer (at least told me) that they have found the same problem on numerous 2007 IS models in their inventory alone speaks to a larger issue. Hate to be the squeaky wheel…but the wheel squeaks… and grease (even special LEXUS grease) is not going to solve this problem. Feel free to call me should you care to discuss this further. Respectfully XXXXXXXXX
  15. I would take a pic but it really doesn't come out that great to post. I have the Black Shappire with the Cashmere - which is a classic combination - really nice contrast interior to exterior. Best just to look on dealer lots or on the lexus website for color combos. I don't think you can go wrong with any interior color with the Black Shappire - what is nice aobu that exterior color is you get real depth to the colr - sometimes it looks black other times blue. Best of luck
  16. I don't have the answer - but found it troubling before I bought the car ( I drive 30K a year). I was told it varies on driving - city v. highway. I just resigned myself to see what happens since it was the only car I really liked. But I seems to me that AWD cars eat up tires faster.. For example when my wife bought a van the Toyota review in Consumer Reports on the Sienna indicated - "fast wearing, expensive to replace tires"
  17. It is my understanding that there is a TSB on this as the dealer offered to replace it (the piece is on backorder). Usre the Moderator know where to find the actual document as I believe it has been posted in the recent past.
  18. Yes, that's what is was on mine - and i is fixed but they told me to expect it to return - keep us posted on yours
  19. That's the sweet spot! That is exactly the same spot as mine. Took it to Lexus I had the tech hanging out the rear window. Said the parking brake was out of adjustment and added some grease...let's see what happens. They said they had never seen it before then they tested another loaner and found another one the same. They also send a report to Lexus.. perhaps enough complaints will get it noticed... as they relentlessly pursue perfection.... I am taking it to Lexus this Friday. I 'll see what they can do. thanks everyone. ireven007 let me know what they say to you. clay1
  20. Get a Garmin Nav 350 or 360 or 600 they are great. I have a nav in the LEXUS - but my wife bought the Garmin for her car and I bought another for my 18 year old. Can fit in your pocket - talks - bleutooth on the two upper models - about $350.00 - good luck
  21. Since I only knew of the 07 problem that is all I could address. I will tell you this... If this is going to get fixed like the problem with the vibration in the rear view mirror with the sunroof open, or the TSB for the brake dust problem - we need to have many, many complains and letters written. Feel free to grab part of my letter and send you own to LEXUS Corporate and your local people. I am not trying to be negative on this with them, in fact I go out of my way to praise. They are ...in the pursuit of perfection... so they need to step up - they made that line up... not me - this ain't HONDA. They really are eroding the "Brand" in my mind and may effect another purchase in the near future. For me repeat business is 75% of my work...I would think repeat customers for LEXUS would be similar. Not to mention this is an entry level sedan... ten years from now I may be working my way into the Flagship of the Line.

I 'll see what they can do. thanks everyone. THIS IS A LETTER I SENT TO LEXUS THAT SUMMARIES PROBLEM< TEMP FIX AND REQUEST FOR A TSB: To Whom it May Concern, I am writing you to inform you of a potential design flaw in your 2007 IS 250 AWD. I purchased my car seven weeks ago, logged close to 5,000 miles, and have been experiencing some noise from the left rear-end; a” clickety-clack” when traveling at low speeds (15 mph) over bumpy roads or speed bumps. I took my car in to be serviced and the problem appears to be in the design left rear parking brake assembly. Although the problem appears to have been temporarily remedied with an adjustment of the parking brake and the addition of some grease – I was told that the noise is likely to re-appear. In fact, the Service Department then test drove several other new IS 250 AWD cars and found a similar rattle. I have also noticed this issue showing up as complaints from new owners on the “lexusclubforum.com” boards listed under “suspension noise”. Although I can not speak to the technical intricacies of the problem, I was told that LEXUS of Northborough did file a report with the Corporate Service Department. I would encourage the appropriate department at the corporate level contact that dealer to discuss the problem further and have your designers take a look at the problem, find a solution and issue a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to permanently rectify the problem. I am an Architect and Owner of a growing Architectural Firm in Boston. I understand that design is an” inexact science”. In fact, as an architect, all of my projects are “prototype designs”; each project distinctly different from the next. I understand that technical issues will arise and need to be corrected. I have purchased three cars over the last 16 months, the latest being the Lexus. I drive over 30,000 miles a year and expect to replace the Lexus (my primary vehicle) every 24 to 30 months. I purchased the LEXUS for several reasons including: LEXUS commitment to quality and brand reputation, car design and the wonderful sales staff at LEXUS of Northborough. In fact I would like to commend your Sales and Service Departments at that location, in particular, Jaime Chomo, Richard Kostigen, Danny Blinn and Dave - the service technician on my vehicle on my last visit. The responsiveness of this group is truly exceptional – they are courteous, responsive, professional and real problem solvers; every quality I would hope for in an employee of my company. For me spending hours a day in the car – cabin comfort and quietness are absolutely paramount. I had and still have high expectations from LEXUS. LEXUS has set the bar high in your “pursuit of perfection” campaign. For me technical design problems such as the one above, that cause “creeks and noises” diminish my enjoyment of the vehicle and erodes the integrity of your prestigious brand. However, how LEXUS handles permanently rectifying the problem is the true litmus test of your “motto”. I am going to be purchasing many, many vehicles over the coming years I am hopeful that you will find a speedy resolution to this problem and others that might arise in the future and make me a LEXUS buyer for life.
