  1. I'm confused now. Are we talking about the trim piece around the control panel in the dash? Or the dash itself? or the passenger side airbag cover? To remove the trim piece around the center control panel, you have to start by removing the the false floor panel in the tray at the top of the dash or if you have the 04-05 compartment, open it, and pull the fabirc bottom piece up to expose the 2 screws that hold the trya or compartment in. Once that is removed, you can work your way down by removing the ac controls and cd player. Make sure you tape off the trim piece with masking tape so you don't scratch it further. Then then small column at the bottom which holds the heated seat buttons on the auto and or the ETC for the manual trans versions, that piece just pops out by pulling out and downward at the same time. Once all these are out, then you can pull the trim piece out of the car for refinishing. ( Yeah, it's alot of work, but you do what you have to.) I used 1000 grit wet sand paper and LIGHTLY sanded the entire piece back to smooth again. Then I used automotive base coat paint with alot of flex added ( What they use for painting plastic bumpers ) and then I clear coated it with a flat Polyacrilic clear coat , actually I gave it several coats of that. It's been well over a year and looks as good as new.

  3. Hello, and welcome to the LOC! Unfortunately, he his telling you the truth. It's not for the keyless entry, it's for the security system in the ignition system. The code in the key has to match the code in the ECU for the security system to allow it to start. Have you looked in the owners manual and all around the car real good for the code? When the car was sold new, there is a business size card in a plastic bag with an emergency key. It's usually in the owners manual leather binder in one of the pockets. You might want to check in the trunk in the side panels and around there also. People can stuff things away and forget they were ever there. Go thru the glove box and check around for that code first. If you have that code, then you just need to have the key programmed and then you'll have a new master key again.
  4. With enouph money, it can allways be fixed. LOL!!! Is it just the door? If so, then your pretty lucky. They should be able to just pull the door off, fix it and repaint it to match with no blending. Which is allways the better option.

  8. It's probably just an 02 sensor. No big deal. You'll need to have the car scanned to get the codes, and replace the one that has gone bad. Happens all the time, with all makes and models.

Quixx Scratch Remover For Wood Trim And Exterior Paint http://clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3390136 I haven't tried it on wood, but I did use it where I had a little clearcoat scratch on my roof and with time and patience it worked out real well. There's a mild abrasive paste for blending the scratch and then a polish for shining the surface up again afterwards.   10. What did you think of the DTS? I have to say that I've always loved the styling even though most people don't! Thanks for the write-up on the MKS. I think they are great looking cars, and it's good to hear they are well built too! I like the DTS a lot. Cadillac still stuggles in the interior quality department an thats more evident in the DTS than in the STS or CTS, mainly because its an older model I'm sure. I've always liked the style of the current model too. The CTS and the CTS-V for 2009 interior has made even more improvements. I agree, Cadillac has come far with this model. I'm not a DTS fan though. I'm not that surprised about the MKS though. I remember not too long ago the Lincoln LS was Motor Trends Car of the Year, and really did look very nice. And with the huge success the Chrysler 300 had here in the states, it only shows that chrome and big grills still sell.
  11. Umm, yes you can, but why would you want to? I mean the stock nav unit in the IS 300 was not the pinnacle of Nav design by any means. You had to use a joy stick mounted on the center console to navigate the screens. You should really consider the Pioneer Avic D3 or Z3 instead. You'll get alot more features, and touch screen controls for way less money. Just an idea.
  12. Hello, and welcome to the LOC. I'm not really sure about being able to just replace the lens on the stock fog light units. And dollars for hassles, you might just want to get aftermarket foglights with the clear lenses already in them. The next issue your going to run into is getting a ballast set up for the HID bulbs you have as they aren't set up for that stock. You can get them easy enouph though from Ebay, and so on. Be careful which foglights you get though, I had a set of clear lenses and thought about doing the HID conversion also, but the length of the bulb wouldn't fit in the housing behind the lense. So I just used a hyper white halogen bulb instead. edit* Oh I just saw you have the HID kit already. So disregard the ballast issue then.
  13. Welcome to the LOC! 55K? I wouldn't think so. But there are allways abberations. Because I can't look at the car myself, I would take it to the dealership and have them look into it. Sort of a second opinion. I can't imagine that you would be having this problem at 55k miles though.
  14. Hey everyone, I just wanted you to know that we have figured out what happened to Alexander the ok. and he has been cleared. I hope everyone understands the steps I took were to make sure that the LOC remains a good, clean, and nonhostile environment for everyone at all times. I do suggest though that in the future you check your links before posting them here so we don't have this happen again.
  15. the issue here is that the symptoms your explaining are caused by a ton of different things that can go wrong. It could be a fuel pump issue, it could be your fuel injectors or just the fuel injector seals, it could be a coil issue, or a spark issue, it could be a tuning issue. Are you running a stand alone ECU or a piggyback? It could be a Blow off valve issue or it could also be a wastegate problem. And on and on and on. When you go boosted, you need to know your car or have a mechanic that is your goto guy. This won't be the last time you have some issue that results in boost problems. Website diagnostics are just not a very effective means for solving issues like this. You have to have the car in front of you to be able to eliminate possibles, and zero in on the probables.

  17. Have you pulled the spark plugs and checked them? So far it sounds like a spark issue. In turbo applications even iriduim plugs don't last all that long.

  19. Welcome to the LOC! For the in dash nav install, several of us have used the Avic D3 or Z2. Both a very nice indash units with lots of options. If you want to see what it looks like, try going to the Modifying an IS 300 Chronicles of a Dream Ride thread. It's a sticky at the top of this forum. I put one in my IS and I thought it was great. As for the short shifter, Carson has one available. I just put one in a Supra, and that came out really nice. But I haven't done one in an IS 300 yet.

  21. Your details must be really detailed! ;) I just bought some Adam's microfiber towels from a recent car show, and man, they are really nice! But the Griot's ones were right there when you consider the price. Adam's cost a bit more, but they were a bit better also. I have been using the Griot's spray wax after each car wash to help maintain the paint sealant. It really beads the water off!! It rained on the car one day in the parking lot, when I got in and closed the door, one of my friends lauphed and said all the water just fell off the car!
  22. You can just remove the sensor from the spare and then leave it in the vehicle and go with the 4 tire rotation paatern only from that point and completely ignore the 5th tire and only use it as a spare if you want.
  23. Actually, he panicked and over corrected which is where his roll over came from. It looks like he should have been ok and would have made it until he counter steered to far.
