  1. I wouldn't even port the head. Stock flows really well. Surprisingly well. I would just replace the valve train while it's off instead. If your on a budget, I would be more concerned with building a boost safe motor than looking for more power.
  2. I think I would just keep looking. Neither car sounds like a good deal for that price range. I wouldn't be interested in anything other than factory paint over 8 years old. And there are too many cars in that price range to not be able to be somewhat particular. Is this going to be a daily driver? or a project car? additional car for the family?
  3. Do you have the electronic or manual adjustment? electronic adjustment has a small squarish toggle button on the side of the steering column under the turn signal stalk. The manual adjustments are under the culumn and "hide away" flush with the surface. You may need to stick your head under the steering wheel to get a visual of what your hand is feeling for. It's a bit further back than what you might expect.
  4. Ok, new crank case filter, and new battery. Anything else I'm missing? Looks good by the way. If you want to do some more engine dress up, and not have to spend alot of money on it, steel braided hose jackets are nice. One over the throttle cable, the power steering line would be a nice touch. Also get better battery terminal connectors. And you could also get an aluminum radiator cover for the top. that would be really nice. The new seats look great! I'm kinda surprised you didn't get black and yellow seats to further the paint scheme, but they still look great. Man, full race bolsters gonna take some getting used to gettin in and out of the car, But gotta love it!! Are you getting harnesses to go with it? Takata makes some nice ones.
  5. The top one is way better than the bottom one. The bottom pic would look like silver teeth on the RX imo.
  6. What design parameters are you referring to? I've always found that with the exception of very focused performance cars, most, if not all car mfgrs. use middle of the road geometries at best.
  7. idiot
  8. Oh, I somehow didn't see that in your first post. Sorry. But, good to hear you are doing it. I haven't used Eagle before,(Carrillo fan here) but everything else looks great. Are you doing any head work?
  9. They will fit fine. I've seen alot of ES's with IS rims on them.
  10. What color is your RX?
  11. Well, then.... Why just replace the head gasket? If it's going in the garage for awhile, might as well open it up and replace the internals, and go over the head. Then repalce the head gasket and bump the boost to 20 psi!
  12. Congrats on the new car, and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club! :) So how many miles have you put on it since you got it?
  13. How about this one? Soundlink
  14. Sorry to hear about the hg. that sucks. How much boost were you running? Are you doing the work yourself?
  15. You need 3 things for the motor to run. Air, fuel, and spark. I would try to isolate which one you don't have first. So after trying to start it far a minute, pull a few plugs out and look at it. It should be soaked in fuel if your geting fuel, but no spark. And it should be clean and dry if it's not. Once you figure out which one it is, then we can move on from there. I'm going to jump out and say i think your fuel pump is out.
  16. A respectable and valid answer. I've worked on everything. And your right about the all wheel drive systems with Jeep and Subaru, I would also include Audi, and Porsche to that list. But I think that Lexus along with Acura and a few others know that the RX and MDX and others will never see a real dirt road. The all wheel drive systems are more just improved traction in weather conditions, such as rain and snow. Not so much terrain conditions. And I think the RX just designed with a different philosophy. I think that there are basically 2 design ideas. A truck with car like abilities, and a car with truck like abilities. It sounds to me like you like the truck with some car like abilities better than the RX which is more a car with truck like abilities. Although, I do think that some of your issues are due to the fact that your 6'7'' and not so much a deficiency in the RX design. American made vehicles have allways seemed to cater to the larger, taller person than most of the Japanese, and even European designs. But to be clear, I understand your points. I have found it troubling about the past transmission issues. It seems they have since corrected it, but it does little for the vehicles that are already out there.
  17. I respect your right to have your opinion. But I am curious though, what SUV's you do like? and why.
  18. I wasn't being critical of your (or your wife's) decision to buy a RX, I was just coming to my own conclusion. Maybe I should look at Acura.... Just a note here, Honda has had the same issues, albeit different models. The Odessy was given an under powered transmissions also. They had a recall, and extended the powertrain warrentee. A friend of mine has gone thru 4 transmissions at 175k miles. The MDX has the clunking differential problems in past years also. So just be careful, and do your own research. Both Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus make great cars and trucks. But it's been a learning expereince for them also. The last couple of years models have been much better.
  19. Spaceballs
  20. Happy Birthday Raymsixsix! So where and when is the party?
  21. Yeah, that should be fine. I've put rims on closer than that and didn't have any issues.
  22. $2.08 here
  23. Here you go:
  24. THMotorsports has Siebon CF hoods for $480.00 shipped, and Siebon is probably the best as far as fitment, finish, and quality goes in that price range. THMotorsports
