  1. Great news Blake!! Totally cool that JPI is soooooooo good - very very nice to know!!! I bet you are smiling as you nick a small pothole and the "silence" of the LS continues on............
  2. Yes K9.........depreciation is killing us It'll probably keep up at a rate of $2500-3000 a year for another 3-4 years. :cries: At least it beats the $6-8k+ a year depreciation the previous owners took Our cars are virtually twins.....came from Park PLace Lexus in Dallas ---both with overfilled Tranny Fluid
  3. excellent K9!! take a few photos if possible ........I"m sure I'll be doing this eventually....... <_<
  4. my Chrysler Concorde Sticker Price was $41,500 brand new (Alaska Dealer Markups are BIZZATCH!!!) after my moms company discount (which gets us to 3% above invoice) it came out to $37,550. now, 3 years later, the car is worth $9,000. talk about depreciation...thats the only thing i hate about american cars!! ← Ouch!!!!!! Man, I'm sorry on that one - definately a rip............
  5. Yes.......you are toooooo High.................. Silvermate hit the nail on the head about Depreciation.....it just kills you (and me!) My 99 is just like your Dad's (except @ 70k miles) - I could probably get $18-19,000 for it........paid $22,500 just two years ago...... So, in two years I've lost $4 grand ---not good --it's just the way it is... :(
  6. Boy that's the truth silvermate I saw a white 95 LS two days ago, had very new, clean chrome rims on her (OEM baby) - and it just looked gorgeous!! I agree to stick with the OEM style
  7. I like chrome too............but the salt is bad for it....... Heck, water can ruin it too if its really wet all the time - like Seattle, etc... Most guys get a second set of tires & wheels for the winter and leave the chromes in the garage until March/April.... I think they're just a high matainence (& high dollar) item - need to rechrome every 3 years or so.... <_< Let's see what the experts say.......I'm just yappin'
  8. Monarch is referring to the Solenoid Screen (on the Rack)........it is cleaned with brake cleaner do a search and you'll find lots of info on this procedure..... & The screen within the PS Fluid Reservoir. I believe you remove the reservoir and flush with new Dex III and /or Brake cleaner...... Anyway, PS fluid should be flushed every 30K (in my book, every year) to keep the system clean.
  9. That's the way to do it Use a small head screwdriver, and work very slowly around and down....remember - that hose has never been off before.... My PS hose was stubborn too and it is only a 4 1/2 year old car at the time.
  10. Great story Vic!!! And thanks for the post & instructions
  11. Yea.........I hear ya........ :D the sticker price on my 99LS is $57,500 It was in the glove box when I bought the car..... I think the Line will hold!!!
  12. Just disconnect neg battery cable for 10-20 minutes....go inside and have lunch :D See Bartkat message above..
  13. That's a great Idea Blake......although the shear numbers will be expensive......
  14. Hey K9!!! Good to hear from you again....My LS is @ 69,500 miles.....nearly your twin :D Those "front strut rod bushings" are prone to failure....mine are still okay - for the moment. PM me if you need Manual Info :D BTW - We are planning on visiting again Oct 2005
  15. Its possible that was the latest update available.....they may only do this every 2 years........... Call em up and make sure, check with other dealers in your area too....
  16. run a search on ... Power Steering Solenoid as this is surely very dirty, it needs to be cleaned and then flush the fluid again. Unfortunatly, you are dealing with a 14 year old car that has NEVER had the PS unit flushed or serviced.........you would be in critical shape also..... Use Valvoline Dex III for higher mileage cars for the flush
  17. I almost bought the Avalon before the LS.......... I just couldn't get over the "star trek" dash board........I know - I'm shallow like Jerry Seinfeld The tire stance is a little weak too........ If they change the dash....I would probably buy it. It has MORE interior room than the 98-00 LS's for sure - It's gotta be close to the 01----current LS's... I'll definately look into one if I ever sell the LS :cries: -- NEVER!!!!!
  18. Yes.......definately on the totalled......... Glad you're ok -
  19. Sounds good Silver!!!! Can't wait for the pics!!
  20. I wish they were more readily available w/o the sunroof. I have no interest in them....
  21. ecu, Oh yeah....I do believe the wind noise was solved with a new TSB and better (thicker) gasket....that fix has worked okay...I believe.
  22. ecu, At this point, I would wait till post Jan 2nd.... Why not, its only 2 weeks and you'll save on property tax :D That "greyish" wood color became popular on the "platinum edition" LS's.....
  23. you need to get that Dex III outta there and use the toyota T-IV... Just do a couple more pan drains and you'll have it.... Your car will shift @ 2500 rpms/25mph..... into 3rd gear when its cold....it 's the way Lexus designed it. The coolant temp must reach 100 degrees or so for the smooth shift. the higher rpms are trying to warm the engine faster....
  24. Surely the air suspension will last 5-7 yrs minumum....... If I could get an 02 with even less miles for same or less money...I'd get it. I'm not one for lots of gadgets on my car though......they are usually worth very little when its time for resale.....
