  1. here ya go........ Attached to the frame and the lower control arm......... If removing, mark it so alignment will stay put.. comp.pdf
  2. Soon to be in the 300K Club..........and beyond I have gotten a little lazy Blake----------every other oil change is good for me. But that's only after I changed it 4 time the first 2 months I had the LS ; to get the tranny color pretty n' pink :D /...................... B)
  3. try irontoad.com or' lexus-parts.com
  4. Yea.......look into that for us Steve - that would be nice..... Other forums (not Auto-I"m LOC all the way :D ) I'm on have a simple way of uploading straight from my computer when making a new post------easy to do... People love photos and this forum could use an easier feature - we have a great group!!!!!
  5. Gumart, try a cordless drill (on LOW RPM) with a extraction screw made for stripped threads, it will dig into the stripped head and eventually grab and extract it... Or, first off, try another Oversized phillips and really press into it while turning - another trick is to use Locking Pliers..... Those bolts are Metric - I believe.......very close to 1/4-20 but not quite right... I think they may be 8mm.........so save one and go to Autozone or similar for replacement. Be sure to put a little WD on the new threads when you put the new plate on Your car looks great---I do like the color!!!
  6. Great news!! And welcome to LOC :D You have an excellent vehicle
  7. They should be pretty snug at the air filter housing........I'll check mine out for comparison
  8. Excellent!!! yeh- the interior of those 430's are sweet!!! Lotsa ROOM!!!
  9. Yes, they should look new --that's why I'd check them ---because I don't trust the service SWO - I also think the photo upload is second rate. There are lots of forums where you just upload right from your HD to your post, makes LOC's look very cumbersome---just my 2 cents....
  10. Factory interval should be 30K...........at least I wouldn't go beyond that.
  11. It's behind the lower glove box...........there is a removable plastic section and then you can get to the filter. Should be info in the owners manual- I think....It's about $45 from dealer for a new one - they are not cheap (what is on an LS anyway??? :whistles: )
  12. I change it every other oil change (10K)........2.5 quarts. I'm DIY though...... :D
  13. I would hope no problems exist :D CHeck the VIN, find out it's service record............ This is most likely a real "highway cruiser" so should be in good shape if serviced regulary....... SO.............what's the asking price???????????????????????
  14. totally agree with Lexus_lux on soaking the bolts "over time"........ spray 3-5 times a day for a few days or more and they will eventually loosen. I do think you can use epoxy type cement to replace the broken mount on the coolant reservoir - do give it a try!! That's a VERY, VERY low price for 98 LS......... The color isn't very popular so that helps a bunch in price ----well done. CHeck your air filter and cabin filter too!!
  15. check out the "PINNED-- Used LS400 buying guide".......... a lot of relevant info for any used car....... If you can run the VIN # where it came from you can get service history. Check ALL the fluids thoroughly.... Stick with one owner vechicle if possible.... Let me know how much the 99-00's are going for...............my guess from $18k up to $22k or so......... :D
  16. Thanks Blake!!! Good One!!
  17. yeah thats what throws the TB, when the water pump seizes/fails. its pretty rare for the belt to break on its own, they are extremely ridged. the Gen 1 LS400 is a non-interference engine, its a fact.........end of discussion. ← Agree again and again A buddy of mine has a 97 Coach edition w/ 120k+ and has no trouble with TB. If I don't hear any "growling" from the WP I'm not going to change it out either ---should get 120K+ w/ no problem Just keep an occasional eye on her for any leaks & ears open...........
  18. Sounds like the circulator inside the PS reservoir has got too much grime in it. I assume your PS fluid is full???? Anyway, there's a filter in the reservoir that probably needs a "thorough" cleaning to say the least..... Run a search on PS, PS Flush, etc... and you'll find a lot of info. You'll find a need for a 2-3 complete PS flushes to really clean out the system....
  19. Always check the beginning VIN letter to find where the car is built........ J = Japan
  20. No DVD.......its a hard drive based unit. Update is around $250-300. DVD units began in the 01 model year..... Now, I think you can swap out a newer DVD system (01's.....+) into the 00 model year --------run a search, it was on the board within 30 days I believe...???
  21. Why not try and find how much she's worth as is...........and then find another 93-95 LS. You may be able to just get another nice LS for 1-2k difference and no hassles with changing out the engine and all that......... I think if you drop another engine in yours it will open a big can of worms ($$$$$) to deal with.
  22. For a complete list..... GO to your local Lexus Service dept. and talk to them about the two different services --that you're looking in to getting it done... See if they'll give you a printout ---they most likely will. 90k service for my 99ls is $1500 basically all the fluids, filters, plugs, TB, Idler pulleys , TB tensioner....maybe brake pads.
  23. Good tip.........thank you Robert!!!
  24. They can be pushed out.......but dealers don't do it - they sell the entire rod.
