  1. I can attest from living in southern California several years back that high-end sales people know that attire is not an indicator of financial ability to purchase an expensive car. There are a lot of wealth young beach bums running around. Tom
  2. I am undecided about the benefits if pure nitrogen versus the inconvenience of adding more if/when the pressure drops. Costco does it for free in Arizona so I gave it a try. I may have a later report. Tom
  3. But be careful of Dent Wizard. It's a franchise with a couple of weeks of basic training. The rookies are less experienced.
  4. Whatever do you think this stuff can possibly do to help a modern Lexus engine?
  5. Lexus411. One good way to find a skilled dent remover is to call some high-end car dealerships and ask who they use. All dealer use these guys to get rid of dents instead of painting. Tom
  6. Regarding a power steering fluid change, I recently did one on my Porsche 968. I chose a low-tech approach, namely sucking out the available fluid with a syringe and refilling several consecutive times--multiple dilutions so to speak. The extra fluid (ATF in my case) is quite cheap, and an easy tradeoff versus trying to disassemble the power steering system and remove every drop of fluid. Tom
  7. Welcome to the Lexus world. I have a new 07 RX400h and only the first oil change at 5000 miles is free; thereafter one pays. There are other posts here about this (try searching) and I think that the consensus is that Lexus dealers are somewhat expensive for oil changes as well as push additional service items. (Service writers are commissioned.) Apparently Toyota dealers are equipped to do the same quality service, and are cheaper. I may give one a try when I reach 10,000 miles and/or just do it myself. Tom
  8. I think the issue is more accurately, lower gas mileage with regular. But there is more to consider than simply fuel mileage. Running regular in a car designed for premium is possible because the engine computer adjusts, among other things, timing, to avoid detonation. I learned my lesson in a previous LS400 that running regular over time causes the engine to run hotter and degrades various engine components. I believe that this was the cause of numerous repairs over the years. Tom
  9. So how do you get the hidden menu? Tom
  10. Roland. Those Michelin prices sound high. Do you have access to Costco or Discount Tire in your area. If so, I'd get similar quotes. Tom
  11. I know it would be a large file but I would prefer the Factory Owner's Manual in one PDF. Is there any software to combine Adobe files? Tom in AZ
  12. It's an interesting idea but I'm not sure what value it will be while driving. Of course I haven't tried it so I'm not knocking it. Tom
  13. Tell this to the city of Scottsdale, AZ, where thay make a fortune on photo-radar tickets including around 200,000 over the last year on a section of freeway. Tom
  14. Husker. I purchased my 2007 hybrid at $1500 over invoice by phone shopping several dealers and playing one against the other. Tom
  15. Here ya go Colo Springs, 689 hybrid decals to choose from: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/search/poe/gif...amp;ru=&rn=
  16. Ditto re a paintless dent remover. You can usually get a referral from a high end dealer. Talented ones do amazing work.
  17. $1500 more, one MPG less, 3500# vs 2000# towing............
  18. Wrong site to post this, 93LSOwner....too may stuffed shirts here.
  19. Jeff. Did it ever occur to you that how other Lexus owners choose to display their cars is not you business? It always amazes me that people who have nothing positive to add to forums can nevertheless find something negative to post.
  20. Tired can't be rotated? Why?
  21. I'm new here with a recently purchased RX400h. Are there any updates to the discount dealers listed? Tom in Arizona
  22. Well, here comes the barbs :) I get oil changes in various vehicles at Walmart. I furnish my own filter and upgrade to premium oil. It's not rocket science and they seem to do fine. And I can shop while waiting. Basicially I'm paying around $20 to $25 for someone else to do the labor I no longer enjoy doing myself.
  23. Colorado. I just noticed on the Lexus site that they sell a small rear window sticker that says, "Lexus Hybrid Drive." Check it out. Tom
  24. Colorado. I don't know what year RX you have, but my 2007 has a chrome "hybrid" inset into the rear door mouldings. If you have a 2006 and it's different, and you have common color to the 2007s, you could probably buy the 2007 mouldings. That's also assuming Lexus doesn't want your right arm for them. Tom
  25. Get a quote from a Toyota dealer. Access to same parts, lower labor rates.
