  1. I don't ever recomend using outside petrolium detergents in any of your systems. The slight pinging your getting is more than likely just in need of a valve adjustment as you mentioned it happens under slight accelaeration and full acceleration. While you may have some carbon build up in certian areas of your car, seafoam, techron, mystery marvel, and all those do very little if anything to fix anything. Don't waste your time or your money. You would be better off just replacing the fluids. Especially on a car with 145k miles on it. The seals and flex lines can easily be damaged by these. Thanks Much. Your logic makes sense and I figured such, but still felt the need to "tinker". I'm sure it's the safest route. Thanks agian....

  4. Hi all, I'm a bit clueless here....I have a 01 430 with 145K on her. She runs perfect although she has a little pinging on slight acceleration. I've read up on it a bit on this forum and it seems like Seafoam might help with the issue. I've purchased a can and read the instructions but I'm hung up on finding the brake booster line or vacuum line??? Can someone give me an idea where to look or which hose to use? Any help is very much appreciated.
  5. Thanks--that's a good idea--I'll do that tomorrow and see what happens.
  6. Do you have aggressive tread pattern tires? or get new tires? Usually most complaints I get are a humming noise that ends up being the tires. A wheel bearing will groan louder when loaded, like when you turn side to side. No, I have Yoko. Avid v4s I think. I've had the tire before with no noticeable noises....Thanks for you thoughts though...
  7. Hi all, I've got a 2001 GS430 with some noises...I think it's coming from the front wheels and I'm guessing it's the wheel bearings. However, I'm a bit confused. My left rear wheel bearing went bad a while back. It made an a humming noise, increasing to a peak around 35 mph and most notable while turning right it increase in volume then decrease when turning left or when I increased speed. My front seems like it's making the same noise except for the fact it happens at higher speeds--closer to 45-50 mph and doesn't seem to increase or be more noticeable when I turn either direction. Does this sound like a wheel bearing problem to you? I kind of assumed since the rear went bad, then it doesn't seem unreasonable that the front's might go bad as well but I assumed it would happen at the same speeds and have the same characteristics as the rear. It's rather expensive to fix them without knowing if this is the issues or not so I'm trying to get some other, more experienced opinions. Thanks in advance!
  8. I had the same problem many of you did--I replace my pedal assembly and it fixed the problem. See this thread... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...3516&page=4
  9. I had a similar problem although my car's check engine light never came on. My car would hesitate sometimes while driving, almost like I took my foot off the accelerator pedal but I didn't--drove me nuts. I replaced the pedal assemply--see thread below. It fixed my problem and sounds like it might be yours too. Good luck. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...3516&page=4
  10. I second what SRK said--stick with OEM pads. I switch to some "gimmick" pad and went through two sets in 40K miles. Switched back to original pads and I'm happy...
  11. when this happens, does it feel as if your accelerator pedal becomes somewhat spongy--like you took your foot off it but didn't? I had a somewhat similar situation and replaced my pedal accelerator assembly and that fixed it...
  12. if you struts are original then i believe it is definitely time to change them. the second generation also seem to have lower ball joint issues. you should check them out too Thanks--I'll look into it.
  13. Hello All, Happy Holidays--I have a 2001 GS430 with 128K. Whenever the weather gets cold, 50 degrees or below, the front of my car begins to make noises when I go over speed bumps or anything else that causes the car to move up and down. It appears to be noise generated when the shock/springs compress and then release. I don't know much about shocks, springs, coilovers, etc. and thought I'd get some expert opinions as to what to look for. To my knowledge, I have all original shocks and springs, etc. Thanks in advance, Brian
  14. Hello, So it looks as if I have a bad wheel bearing, rear left to be precise. I took the car to my local dealership to see if they could figure out what was going on and they said they think my wheel bearings gone bad. First off, they think??? Next, they want almost 1K to fix it? This seems a bit high--what do you guys think? Should I take it to bigo or some place like that? By the way, the car is an 01 gs430 with 124K on her. By the way again, thanks to SKPERFORMANCE and ANTHONYIEZ for helping to diagnose this problem!
